Custom Kraft Box Dividers

from £0.25 a dividerPriced per job · low minimums

Custom kraft box dividers are slotted strips of brown card that lock together into a grid, giving every item in a box its own cell. They stop jars clinking, bottles knocking and small gifts tumbling into a heap, all with a natural brown finish that suits plain or kraft packaging.

What a Divider Grid Actually Does

When several products share one box, they move against each other in transit. Glass rattles and chips, labels scuff, and soft items get squashed under heavier ones. A divider grid fixes each item in place and turns one big space into a set of small compartments. The products arrive in the order you packed them and look neat when the lid comes off.

Dividers also stiffen the box. The vertical walls of the grid support the lid and help the box resist crushing when cartons are stacked. For mixed gift sets and multipacks, that extra strength is often enough to let you use a lighter outer box.

Because the strips slot together by hand, there is no glue and no special equipment. Your team drops the grid into the box and fills each cell.

Grids can be lifted out in one piece, too. That matters for gift boxes where the customer wants to take everything out at once, and for trade customers who reuse your boxes for storage. A grid that comes out cleanly and drops back in again keeps the box useful long after the first delivery.

Why Choose Kraft Box Dividers

Brown kraft card blends with kraft mailers and plain corrugated boxes, so the inside of the pack looks like it belongs with the outside. It has a natural, handmade character that suits food, drink, candle and craft brands, and it hides minor marks from handling better than white board does.

We do not add any environmental marks for you, but the material itself is simple and familiar.

  • Matches kraft and brown corrugated boxes
  • Hides scuffs and handling marks
  • Slots together without glue
  • Can be printed in one or two colours

Card or Corrugated: Picking the Right Weight

Solid kraft card is thin and neat, ideal for small items such as candles, jars of jam, cosmetics or sweets in a gift box. It takes up very little space, so you lose almost nothing from the inside of the box.

Corrugated kraft is thicker and much stiffer. Use it for wine and beer bottles, heavier jars, glassware and anything that will be shipped by courier. The flutes act as cushioning between products and stop glass touching glass. For very heavy items, double-wall corrugated dividers give extra protection.

If you are unsure, send us the product weight and how the box will travel. Retail shelf packs and hand-delivered hampers can use lighter card; courier parcels usually need corrugated. Bottles and heavier jars move to our corrugated dividers for heavy bottles.

Planning Cell Sizes and Layouts

Start with the inside dimensions of the box and the size of each product. The grid is made from strips that run the length and width of the box, with slots cut halfway so they lock together. Each cell needs to be slightly larger than the item it holds, with a little extra if the products are irregular, like handmade candles or hand-labelled jars.

Common layouts include two by two for four items, two by three for six bottles, three by four for twelve jars and single rows for long products such as chocolate bars. You can also mix cell sizes, such as one large cell for a bottle beside several smaller ones for accessories.

The height of the divider usually matches most of the product's height. For tall bottles, a divider covering two thirds of the bottle is enough to stop movement and saves board.

Allow for the thickness of the board itself. Every wall in the grid takes a little space from the box, so a three by four grid in corrugated eats more room than the same layout in thin card. If the box is already fixed, tell us and we will work backwards to the largest cells it can hold. Sending one of each product, or a photo next to a ruler, is often the quickest way to get the cells right first time. Our method for measuring jars for a cell covers lids and labels.

Printing on Dividers

Most dividers are left plain, but a single colour logo or pattern on kraft can lift a gift box. A line of text along the top edge, such as your brand name or a product name above each cell, helps customers find what they ordered in a mixed box.

White ink on kraft gives a soft, stylish result; black or a dark brand colour gives stronger contrast. Keep the print simple, since the strips are narrow and the slots break up any design across them.

Another idea is to print a short note on the outer strip that faces the customer when the box opens, such as a pairing suggestion for a beer selection or the scent name in a candle set. It costs little and turns a purely practical piece of card into part of the presentation. Our print on kraft compared guide shows how one colour sits on brown card.

Where Kraft Dividers Get Used

Drink brands use them in multipacks and subscription boxes. Candle and home fragrance makers use them for gift sets. Food producers put them in hampers, jars of chutney and honey, and cheese selections. Craft and haberdashery sellers use small grids to keep reels, buttons and paints apart. Warehouses use them to organise small parts in storage boxes.

They are also popular with businesses that ship mixed orders. A standard box with a set of interchangeable dividers can hold three bottles one day and six jars the next, so you can keep fewer box sizes in stock. Trade case packs with twelve or more cells are usually made as box partitions for case packs.

Count the Jars Across and Down

A kraft divider is a grid, so the brief is two numbers: how many cells across and how many down. Open your box, measure the inside length, width and depth, then line the products up along each side to see how many fit with a finger's gap between them. Those counts, with the diameter and height of the product, let us draw the strips and the slot spacing. Decide the strip height next, about two thirds of a tall bottle or the full height of a short jar, and whether the grid needs a base pad underneath. Choose plain kraft card for jars and candles or kraft corrugated for bottles over 500 g. Dividers rarely carry print, so the quote is quick, but a logo on the strips is possible; the free proof shows the strips and the slot positions before cutting. A custom quote comes by email within one working day, minimums are low and quoted per job, and dividers are cut in 4–7 working days after approval and shipped flat on free tracked UK mainland delivery. Kraft Box Dividers Questions

What buyers ask before ordering kraft box dividers.

Do kraft dividers need glue?

No. The strips have slots cut halfway through, so they lock together by hand into a grid. Your team just drops the grid into the box.

Should I choose card or corrugated dividers for glass bottles?

Corrugated. It is thicker and cushions the bottles so glass does not touch glass in transit. Use double-wall for heavy bottles.

Can you make dividers to fit boxes I already have?

Yes. Send us the inside dimensions of your box and the size of each product, and we will design the grid to fit.

How tall should kraft dividers be for jam jars?

For a standard jam jar, the full height of the jar below the lid is best, so the jars cannot tilt and clink. For tall bottles, around two thirds of the height is enough to stop movement. Tell us the product height and we set the strip height.

Can I have different-sized cells in one box?

Yes. Mixed layouts, such as one large cell for a bottle and smaller ones for accessories, are easy to cut.

Can dividers be printed?

Yes, in one or two colours. White ink on kraft is popular, and product names above each cell help customers find what they ordered.

Will kraft dividers mark glass jars?

No, plain kraft card has a smooth, unprinted surface that does not scuff glass or labels. The strips are cut cleanly so there are no rough edges against the jar. For very glossy labels a thin tissue wrap is an extra precaution.

Can one divider set work for different products?

If your products are similar in size, yes. A standard grid can hold bottles one day and jars the next, which reduces the number of box sizes you need.

Do you sell matching kraft boxes?

Yes. If we make the boxes too, we design the divider to fit them exactly and quote both together.

Can I get a base pad under the dividers?

Yes. A base pad protects the bottom of each product and adds cushioning. A top pad under the lid can also help with tall items.

Are small quantities possible?

Yes. Minimums are low and quoted per job, so a small brewery or candle maker can order a short run.
