The Everyday Box, Made to Measure
Most businesses need a plain, reliable box long before they need a printed one. Our custom cardboard boxes are exactly that: corrugated board cut to the size you need, in the style that suits how you pack. Choose a four-flap carton, a tuck-top mailer, a lift-off lid or a one-piece folder.
Ordering to size means no more padding a box that is twice the product. It also means your boxes stack neatly on a shelf, because every one is the same. When you are ready to add your brand, the same box can carry a logo in 1 colour or full colour artwork without changing the size or board.
What People Use Them For
- Packing online orders that do not need a printed unboxing
- Storing stock, spares and paperwork in matching boxes
- Outer boxes for sealed jars and bottles
- Workshop parts, kits and trade orders
Picking a Style
If the box travels on its own, a mailer style or a four-flap carton are the safe choices. If it lives on a shelf, a lid and base or a tuck-top is easier to open and close repeatedly. Not sure? Tell us how the box is used and we will suggest a style. For the strongest cartons, see custom shipping boxes.
Which Cardboard Style Fits the Job
Cardboard box is a broad name. The styles below cover most everyday packing, and each can be made to your size:
| Style | How it closes | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Four-flap carton | Tape across the top and bottom | Stock, moving goods, general shipping |
| Mailer with lid | Locking tabs, no tape | Online orders and gifts |
| Lid and base | Separate lid lifts off | Storage, presentation, hampers |
| Crash-lock base | Base locks as it opens | Fast packing of heavier items |
| Wrap-around tray | Folds around the product | Books, flat items, framed prints |
If a box has to look good as well as travel, the self-locking mailer box style is usually the better choice.
Measuring and Ordering
That is enough for a custom quote. If you are working from an old box, measure the inside rather than the outside, because board thickness adds several mm to the outer size.
- Measure the product at its widest points, including any handles or caps.
- Add room for tissue, filler or an insert, usually a few mm each way.
- Give us those as the internal length, width and depth in mm.
- Tell us the weight and how the box travels: courier, pallet or hand delivery.
- Say whether you want it plain, with a logo or fully printed.
Our guide to measuring your product for a box covers odd shapes and sets.
Storage and Everyday Use
Cardboard boxes are delivered flat in bundles, which keeps storage simple. Keep them somewhere dry, because damp board loses much of its strength, and store bundles flat rather than on their edge so the creases stay true.
Plain boxes often end up doing several jobs: storage on a shelf, a shipping carton for wholesale orders and an outer for smaller printed boxes. If that is the plan, choose B flute so one size handles all three. For a natural brown look across your range, compare kraft boxes in brown board.

Plain kraft boxes with no print are quoted the same way: send size and quantity.
Popular Cardboard Boxes Sizes
Internal sizes in mm. Cardboard boxes are cut to order, so any size is fine.
| Length × Width × Depth | Often used for | Board |
|---|---|---|
| 150 × 150 × 150 mm | Cube gifts, mugs, candles | E flute |
| 200 × 150 × 100 mm | Small parts, cosmetics orders | E flute |
| 300 × 200 × 150 mm | Books, homeware, kits | B flute |
| 350 × 250 × 200 mm | Stock storage, mixed orders | B flute |
| 400 × 300 × 300 mm | Bulky items, archive storage | Double wall |
| 450 × 450 × 450 mm | Large or heavy items | Double wall |

Every box arrives flat and folds up in seconds.
Board
E flute for slim boxes, B flute for most cartons and double wall for weight. Kraft is the usual outer liner; white gives a cleaner look and brighter print.
Leave them plain, add a 1 colour logo, or print full colour on white board. Printing on two sides and the lid is common for boxes seen on a shelf.
Styles
Four-flap carton, tuck-top mailer, lift-off lid and base, or a one-piece folder. The custom quote can include more than one style if you want to compare.

A lift-off lid suits storage boxes that are opened again and again.

Cardboard Boxes Questions
What customers ask before ordering cardboard boxes.
Can I order plain cardboard boxes with no print?
Yes. Plain boxes are made to size in the same way as printed ones. Just choose no print on the form.
Which cardboard box style should I choose?
For posting, a mailer style or a four-flap carton. For storage or retail, a lid and base or a tuck-top. Describe how the box is used and we will suggest one.
Is corrugated the same as cardboard?
In everyday speech, yes. Technically, corrugated board has a fluted middle layer between two liners, which is what gives a box its strength. Thin folding card has no flute.
Can I get white cardboard boxes?
Yes. A white outer liner is available on E flute, B flute and double wall, and it makes printed colours look brighter.
Can cardboard boxes hold food?
They are often used as outer boxes for sealed or wrapped food products such as jars, bottles and packaged snacks. Tell us what goes inside so we can advise on the board.
How do I measure for a cardboard box?
Measure the length, width and height of the product, add a few mm each way for wrapping, and send those as internal sizes in mm. Our guide to measuring your product has more detail.
What is the strongest option?
Double wall corrugated is the strongest board in this range. It suits heavy contents and boxes that will be stacked.
Do you supply boxes in mixed sizes?
Yes. One order can include several sizes. Each size is priced on the custom quote.
What is the smallest run of cardboard boxes you make?
Minimums are low and set per job rather than fixed. Plain cardboard boxes in one size are the simplest to make in a short run, and the custom quote shows the price for the quantity you ask for.
How long do cardboard boxes take to arrive?
4–7 working days for production after you approve the free proof, then 2–3 working days for free tracked delivery to the UK mainland.
