Gift Boxes That Do Half the Work
A good gift box makes the thing inside feel more generous before anyone has seen it. That comes down to weight, finish and how the box opens. A rigid lid that lifts slowly, a magnetic flap that closes with a click, or a drawer that slides out on a ribbon all add a moment that a plain box cannot.
We make gift boxes in whichever construction suits the budget and the product. Rigid greyboard gives the most premium feel and can be kept for years. Folding card is lighter, ships flat and costs less, while still taking full colour print and foil. Corrugated gift mailers combine the two when the gift has to go through the post.

Adding the Details
Ribbon pulls, ribbon ties, tissue, printed cards and fitted inserts can all be built into a gift box. Tell us what goes inside and how it should be presented, and the free design proof will show the layout. For hinged flap styles see custom magnetic boxes.
Matching the Box to the Occasion
Gift boxes cover a wide range of construction and budget. The usual pairings:
| Occasion | Common style | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Corporate and client gifts | Rigid lid and base or magnetic | Weight and a premium feel |
| Weddings and events | Folding card or pillow boxes | Light, economical in larger runs |
| Hampers and food gifts | Corrugated lid and base | Strong enough for jars and bottles |
| Retail gift sets | Rigid box with a fitted insert | Each item held and presented |
| Staff and team packs | Printed mailer box | Posts without an outer carton |
Gift sets with several items usually need an insert. See custom inserts for gift sets for the options.
Planning a Gift Box Order
With those details, the custom quote can compare two constructions side by side, which helps when a budget is fixed.
- List what goes inside, with the size and weight of each item.
- Decide whether the box is handed over or posted.
- Pick a construction: rigid for weight, card for economy, corrugated for posting.
- Choose one feature finish, such as foil on the logo or a ribbon pull.
- Add your date if the gifts are for an event, so the proof and production are planned around it.
Finishing Touches That Matter
Small details change how a gift box is received. A ribbon pull makes a lid easier to lift. A printed message inside the lid is a personal note that costs little to add. Tissue in a brand colour softens the inside and hides the insert edges.
Keep finishes in proportion to the gift. One foil detail on a soft touch lid usually looks more considered than several finishes competing. For gifts that are mostly handed over in person, rigid gift boxes in wrapped greyboard give the most weight in the hand.

A ribbon and printed card turn a plain lid into a gift.

Gift Boxes Questions
What customers ask before ordering gift boxes.
Which gift box style feels most premium?
Rigid boxes with a soft touch wrap and a foil logo feel the most premium. Magnetic flap boxes are a close second because of the way they close.
Can gift boxes be sent in the post?
Rigid and folding gift boxes are best packed inside a mailer or carton. If you want one box that posts and presents, ask about a printed E flute gift mailer.
Can you add a ribbon?
Yes. Ribbon pulls, ties and bows can be added in a colour to suit your design.
Do you make round gift boxes?
Yes. Round rigid boxes with a lift-off lid are made to order. Tell us the diameter and height you need.
Can I print a gift message inside the lid?
Yes. A printed message, pattern or thank-you inside the lid is seen as soon as the gift is opened, and it costs little to add because the lining is already being printed.
Can gift boxes hold food?
They are often used for wrapped chocolates, biscuits and sealed treats. Let us know what goes inside and we will advise on inserts or liners.
Do you make gift boxes for hampers?
Yes. Larger rigid or E flute boxes with dividers or shredded fill make good hamper boxes.
Can I order gift boxes for a single event?
Yes. Minimums are set per job, so a run for one event, a client gifting round or a staff pack is fine. Tell us the date and we plan the proof and production around it.
How long do gift boxes take?
Production takes 4–7 working days after proof approval. Free tracked delivery to the UK mainland takes 2–3 working days.
What if gift boxes arrive marked or damaged?
Report it within 10 days with a photo and we reprint or refund the affected boxes. The returns and reprints page explains how.
