Custom Luxury Round Boxes in Hat-Box Style

from £0.25 a boxPriced per job · low minimums

Custom luxury round boxes are rigid, hat-box style cylinders with a lift-off lid and often a ribbon handle, the shape now linked with boxed roses and high-end gifting. Florists and gift brands use them because a round box feels special in a way that a square one rarely does, and customers keep it long after the contents are gone.

Why a Round Box Feels Different

Most packaging is square for practical reasons: it stacks, ships and stores easily. A round box gives up some of that efficiency, and that is precisely why it feels luxurious. It has no corners to dent, it looks soft and elegant on a table, and it echoes the old hat boxes from milliners and department stores. When a customer lifts the lid of a round box filled with roses, it feels like an event.

The round shape also suits what goes inside. Flowers arranged in a dome, macarons stacked in rings, a candle, a scarf folded in tissue or a set of beauty products in a circular insert all look natural in a cylinder. Many customers reuse the box for storage, so your brand stays on a shelf for years.

For florists, round boxes have also changed what customers expect to pay. A dozen roses in a printed round box is seen as a gift in itself, and many florists price boxed arrangements well above the same stems wrapped in paper.

The box is also highly photogenic. Customers share pictures of boxed flowers far more than of bouquets, and a foiled logo on the lid travels with every one of those photographs. The same lift-off lid in folding board, for lighter gifts, is made as one of our round gift boxes.

Box Constructions for Flowers and Gifts

Round rigid boxes come in several constructions, each with its own feel.

  • Lift-off lid with a deep base, the classic hat-box look.
  • Lid with ribbon handles threaded through the base, for carrying flowers like a bag.
  • Shoulder neck boxes, where an inner collar shows a contrast band when the lid is lifted.
  • Boxes with a clear lid that show a flower arrangement from above.
  • Nested sets of two or three sizes for gift collections or display.

Florist Boxes: Water, Foam and Arrangements

Florists use round boxes for arrangements of roses and other blooms set in floral foam. That brings one major requirement: water. Wet foam will soak through ordinary board in hours. We fit round flower boxes with a waterproof liner, either a plastic insert or a laminated inner wall and base, so the foam can be watered without damaging the box.

For preserved flowers, which need no water, a standard rigid box works. Size the box to the arrangement: the diameter should be a little wider than the dome of flowers, and the base deep enough to hold the foam with the flower heads sitting just at or above the rim when the lid is off. With the lid on, there must be room above the heads so they are not crushed.

Florists sending arrangements by courier rather than by hand should consider preserved flowers or a sealed liner with a lid insert, as watered foam and courier networks are a risky combination.

Wraps, Colours and Finishes

Round boxes are wrapped in paper over greyboard, and the wrap sets the mood. Matt black and white are timeless; blush pink, sage, navy and deep green are popular with florists; textured and linen-effect papers suit premium gift brands. Velvet-touch papers give a soft feel that customers love to stroke.

Foil blocking on the lid is the most common decoration, often a logo or monogram in gold, rose gold or silver. A printed or foiled ribbon adds a finishing detail. Inside, a contrasting lining paper or a printed message under the lid adds a surprise. Because the shape is curved, artwork that wraps round the side is laid out carefully on the proof so the seam falls in an unobtrusive position.

Contrast works well on round boxes. A black outer with a blush pink inner, or a white outer with a gold-foiled lining, gives a moment of colour when the lid lifts and costs very little extra. The wrap papers and foils we stock are shown together on our finish page.

Sizes From Single Stems to Statement Boxes

Round boxes cover a wide range of sizes. A small box holds a single rose, a small candle or a few chocolates. Medium boxes hold a classic dome of roses or a gift set. Large boxes make statement arrangements for anniversaries and events. Tall narrow boxes suit long-stemmed flowers standing upright or bottles of perfume and spirits.

If you want a family of sizes that nest or stack in a display, plan them together so the proportions look right side by side. Send us the items you want to pack, or the arrangement sizes your florists create, and we will suggest diameters and heights.

Tall boxes need a slightly heavier board, so they do not lean when the lid is lifted off a full arrangement. Our guide to measuring products for a box covers domes and circular inserts.

Delivering Round Boxes Safely

Round boxes are strong but can roll, so they need care in delivery vans and couriers. Florists usually deliver locally by hand, keeping boxes upright in a van with a non-slip mat or crate. For courier delivery, place the round box inside a square corrugated outer with corner padding, so it cannot shift or tip.

Ribbon handles make carrying easy for customers but should not be used to lift a heavy, watered arrangement without a hand under the base. A printed card in the box with care instructions for the flowers helps them last longer at home.

Delivery drivers appreciate a simple sticker on the lid marking which way is up and asking for the box to be kept level, especially when watered foam is inside. The rest of the luxury and gift box range covers the square outers those boxes travel in.

Say Whether Water Goes in the Box

One answer shapes a round box more than any other: fresh flowers in wet foam, or not. Watered foam needs a plastic liner or a laminated inner wall and base, and the box is then sized so the foam sits with the flower heads at the rim and clear space above them under the lid. Preserved flowers, candles and gift sets skip the liner. Measure the dome of a typical arrangement, or the items for a circular insert, and plan nested sizes together.

Say if ribbon handles are wanted. Send the diameters and heights, wrap, liner, logo and quantity, and a custom quote comes back by email within one working day, with low minimums quoted per job. The free proof shows the lid, the base and where the wrap seam falls. Production takes 4–7 working days after approval and tracked delivery to UK mainland addresses is free, taking 2–3 working days, with the boxes built. Damaged or misprinted boxes reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded. Stems sold wrapped rather than boxed use our printed flower wrapping paper in the same colours.

Luxury Round Boxes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering luxury round boxes.

Can fresh flowers in wet foam go in a round box?

Yes, with a waterproof liner. We fit a plastic insert or laminated inner wall and base so the foam can be watered without soaking the box.

Do preserved flowers need a liner?

No. Preserved flowers need no water, so a standard rigid round box works well.

How do I size a box for a rose dome?

Make the diameter a little wider than the dome and the base deep enough for the foam, with room above the heads when the lid is on. A dozen roses usually suits the 200 mm medium hat box.

Can the box have ribbon handles?

Yes. Ribbon handles threaded through the base let customers carry the box like a bag. Support heavy arrangements from below as well.

Which colours are popular with florists?

Matt black and white are classics, with blush pink, sage, navy and deep green also popular. We can match a colour to your brand.

Where does the seam of the wrap go?

We show the seam position on the proof and place it where it is least noticeable, usually at the back of the box. Patterned wraps are laid out so the repeat meets at the seam.

Can I order a set of nested sizes?

Yes. Nested sets of two or three sizes work well for displays and gift collections. Plan the sizes together for good proportions.

How should round boxes be couriered?

Inside a square corrugated outer with corner padding, so the box cannot roll or tip in transit. Preserved flowers travel far better than watered foam by courier.

Does a contrast lining add much to the price of a hat box?

Very little, because the lining paper is applied in the same pass as the outer wrap. A blush inner on a black box, or a gold-foiled message under the lid, is the detail customers mention most. The proof shows the lid open so you can see the contrast.

Do round boxes suit gifts other than flowers?

Yes. Candles, chocolates, scarves, beauty sets and macarons all look beautiful in round boxes with a circular insert.

Can a small florist order modest quantities?

Yes. Minimums are low and quoted per job, so a single shop can order just the sizes it uses.
