Custom Magnetic Calendar Boxes
Custom magnetic calendar boxes turn a desk calendar, planner or diary into a gift that feels worth keeping. The rigid box closes with a quiet magnetic snap, holds its shape on a desk and carries your logo in foil or print, which is why companies use them when sending calendars to clients and teams.

Why Box a Calendar at All
A branded desk calendar is one of the few promotional items that stays in view every working day. It sits by a keyboard, gets glanced at every time someone checks a date and carries a logo the whole time. But a calendar posted in a plain envelope or shrink wrap can look like an afterthought, and some never make it out of the post tray.
A magnetic box changes that first impression. The recipient opens a rigid box with a satisfying snap, finds the calendar presented on a tray or in a cut-out, and immediately understands this is a considered gift. Many people keep the box itself for storing stationery, cards or keepsakes, which gives your brand another place on their desk.
For planners and diaries sold at retail, a magnetic box adds perceived value and makes the product easier to give as a present.
Teams who receive one also notice the care taken, which reflects well on the company that sent it.
How the Box Is Built
Magnetic calendar boxes are rigid boxes: thick greyboard wrapped in printed or coloured paper. The most common style is the book-style box, where the lid is hinged along one long edge and folds over the front, with thin magnets hidden under the wrap to hold it closed. The base is a solid tray that the calendar sits in.
Inside, a fitted insert holds the calendar. Desk calendars with a tent-style easel are often packed flat with a card or foam insert that keeps the stand from moving; spiral planners sit in a shallow cut-out; diaries can sit in a well with a ribbon pull to lift them out.
Because the boxes are rigid, they arrive fully made up, not flat. That is worth bearing in mind for storage space when ordering larger quantities.
Magnet strength is set so the lid closes firmly but opens with a light pull. Too strong and the box feels stiff; too weak and the lid lifts in a bag. We balance it to the size and weight of the lid.
- Book-style magnetic flap: the classic, opens like a hardback
- Magnetic flap with window: shows the calendar cover
- Shallow tray with deep lid: for thicker diaries and planners
- Collapsible magnetic box: ships flat and folds into shape, saving storage

Sizing Custom Magnetic Calendar Boxes
Measure the calendar as it will be packed. Desk calendars that stand on an easel are usually packed folded flat, so measure the closed calendar's width, height and thickness, including the wire binding. Wall calendars are packed flat or rolled, and planners and diaries are measured as books.
Add a few millimetres all round for the insert and an easy fit. A rigid box that is too tight makes it hard to lift the calendar out, and one that is too loose lets it slide. If you plan to include extras, such as a pen, a card from the company or a small gift, allow space and cut-outs for them in the insert.
If you are boxing more than one product, such as a calendar and a matching notebook, lay them out as you want them presented and send us the footprint. Our method for measuring a desk calendar covers the stand and the binding.
Wraps, Foils and Finishes
The outer wrap sets the tone. Plain coloured papers in deep blue, black, forest green or burgundy look elegant with a foil logo. Fully printed wraps can carry patterns, photographs or brand colours edge to edge. Textured papers such as linen or leather-effect add a tactile, premium feel.
Foil stamping in gold, silver or copper on the lid is the most popular finishing touch, often paired with blind embossing or debossing of a pattern. The inside of the lid can carry a message from the company, contact details or a short thank-you. A ribbon pull on the tray helps lift the calendar out.
Wraps in darker colours show scuffs less than pale ones on boxes that will be handled and posted a lot. If you love a pale colour, a matt lamination over the wrap helps it stay clean. The wraps and foils are shown side by side in our wraps and foils compared guide.
Corporate Gifting Done Well
Businesses send calendars to clients, suppliers and staff as a way of staying in touch. Accountants, solicitors, estate agents, recruitment firms, logistics companies and manufacturers all use them. The calendar carries the brand every day; the box makes sure it arrives looking like a gift rather than marketing.
If you send calendars by post, the rigid box goes inside a postal carton or padded mailer. If you hand them out in person at meetings or events, the box itself is the presentation. In both cases, include a personal card in the insert; a short handwritten note in a well-made box is remembered far longer than the calendar's first page.
Some firms print the box generically with their logo and reuse the same design for planners and notebooks throughout the year, ordering a larger run to bring the unit cost down. Firms sending a mixed set rather than a calendar alone use our corporate gift boxes for client sets.
Planning Timings
Calendar gifting tends to come in a rush, so plan the box alongside the calendar itself. Get your calendar size confirmed first, then send us the measurements to start the box. That way the proof can be approved as soon as the calendar artwork is final, and both arrive together.
Allow for proof changes, production and delivery, and add a buffer for packing and posting to recipients. Rigid boxes take up more space than flat boxes, so make sure you have room to receive and pack them.
If you send calendars to a list of clients every time, keep a record of quantities used and recipients added. It makes the next order quicker and helps avoid either running short or storing boxes you do not need. Many firms print the calendar itself with us as wall calendars printed alongside so the two arrive together.
Confirm the Calendar Size Before the Artwork Is Final
Calendar boxes are ordered against a deadline, usually a corporate gifting date, and the step that saves the most time is confirming the calendar or planner size before its artwork is finished. Once the trim size and the thickness are fixed, the box proof can run while the calendar is still being designed, and the two arrive together. Measure the calendar with its stand or binding, and say if a pen or a card goes in beside it, because that changes the insert. Choose the style, a lift-off lid or a magnetic flap, then the wrap and the foil, and whether the lid should carry a client's logo as well as your own. Artwork for the box is a vector logo and a colour reference, and the free proof shows the wrap, the lid foil and the insert layout. A custom quote comes by email within one working day with prices from £0.25 depending on size and finish, and boxes are made in 4 to 7 working days after approval with free tracked UK mainland delivery. Diaries with a spine suit our book style gift boxes for diaries.

Magnetic Calendar Boxes Questions
What buyers ask before ordering magnetic calendar boxes.
Do magnetic boxes arrive flat?
Standard rigid magnetic boxes arrive made up. Collapsible versions ship flat and fold into shape if storage is tight.
How should I measure a desk calendar?
Measure it folded flat as it will be packed, including the wire binding. Add a few millimetres for the insert.
Can the box hold a pen as well?
Yes. The insert can include a cut-out for a pen, a card or another small item.
Which wrap and foil suit a corporate calendar box?
A plain coloured or textured wrap with a foil logo is the classic choice, in navy, charcoal or forest green with silver or gold foil. Embossing the logo as well adds depth without adding colour. We can send wrap swatches with the quote.
Can I add a personal message inside?
Yes, either printed inside the lid or as a card in a slot cut into the insert. A printed message is the same for every box; a card can be personalised per recipient. We show the position on the proof.
How do I post a rigid box?
Place it in a postal carton or a padded mailer so the corners and the wrap are protected in transit. We can supply a plain outer carton sized to the box in the same order. Hand-delivered boxes do not need one.
Can the same box work for planners?
Yes. Many firms use one design for calendars, planners and notebooks if the sizes are similar.
Can I see the calendar through the lid?
A window version shows the calendar cover. It suits retail planners more than corporate gifts.
When should I order the boxes?
As soon as the calendar size is confirmed, so the box proof is ready while the calendar artwork is being finished. Allow 4 to 7 working days for production after approval and 2 to 3 for delivery. Ordering in early autumn avoids the gifting rush.
Will the magnets damage anything?
The magnets are small and hidden in the wrap. Avoid storing the boxes directly against bank cards or sensitive devices.
Can I add a ribbon to lift out the calendar?
Yes, a ribbon pull under the calendar makes it easy to lift out of the tray without bending the corners. The ribbon colour can match the foil. It is fitted during assembly.
