Custom Round Rigid Boxes

from £0.25 a boxPriced per job · low minimums

Custom round rigid boxes are solid cylinders with a fitted lid that lifts off slowly, made for flowers, candles, gifts and anything that deserves a more graceful shape than a square carton. We wrap them in printed paper and finish them with foil, ribbon and inserts to suit what goes inside.

Why a Round Box Feels Special

Most packaging is square because square is easy to make and stack. That is exactly why a round box gets a second look. The curve catches the light differently, the lid lifts with a gentle pull of air, and the shape feels softer in the hand. Florists use round boxes for hat-box style arrangements, candle makers for pillar and jar candles, and gift brands for anything that benefits from a sense of occasion.

Rigid construction means the box does not fold flat. A thick greyboard tube and base are wrapped in printed or coloured paper, then a separate lid is made to fit over the top with just enough friction to stay put. The result is sturdy enough to be kept and reused, which is one of the main reasons brands choose it. A round rigid box often ends up holding jewellery, hair accessories or keepsakes long after the original gift is gone.

Styles of Round Rigid Box

Round rigid boxes come in a few distinct forms, each with its own feel: A stepped lid that sits on an inner collar is on our luxury round boxes with a shoulder page.

  • Lift-off lid: the classic hat-box style with a deep or shallow lid
  • Neck or shoulder box: a visible collar between base and lid for a refined look
  • Tube with end caps: a tall cylinder for bottles, scarves and rolled items
  • Window lid: a clear top shows flowers or products inside
  • Ribbon handle box: carry handles threaded through the base for flowers and gifts
  • Nesting sets: several sizes that fit inside one another for display or gifting

Sizing for Flowers, Candles and Gifts

Start with the item and the way it should sit. For flower boxes, measure the diameter of the arrangement at its widest and decide how much of the stems will sit inside the box; most florists use a water-holding liner or floral foam inside. Typical flower boxes range from about 150 mm across for a small posy to 250 mm or more for a full arrangement.

For candles, measure the vessel diameter and height and allow a few millimetres all round, plus room for a foam or card insert that stops the candle sliding. For gifts, list the items and arrange them in a circle on a table to find the diameter you need. Remember that round boxes lose some usable space at the edges compared with square ones, so give yourself a little extra diameter rather than less.

Lid depth changes the look. A deep lid covering most of the base feels luxurious and protective, while a shallow lid shows more of the base wrap and gives a lighter feel.

Wraps, Linings and Finishes

The outer wrap defines the look. Printed paper lets you cover the box in full colour patterns, photographs or brand artwork. Coloured specialty papers, such as matt black, textured cream or pastel shades, give a clean, high-end finish with a single foil logo on the lid. Velvet-touch and suede-effect papers add a soft feel that suits jewellery and beauty gifts.

Hot foil in gold, silver, copper or rose gold is the most requested extra, usually on the lid top. Embossing or debossing adds a tactile logo, and spot UV can add a subtle gloss pattern on a matt wrap. Inside, you can line the box with a contrasting colour or print a message under the lid, a small detail that makes the opening moment feel planned. Our wraps and foils compared guide shows a logo on a curved surface.

Inserts and Practical Extras

Round boxes often need help keeping contents in place. Foam inserts with circular cut-outs hold candles, bottles and jars. Card dividers split the space for multiple items such as macarons or chocolates. Flower boxes use a plastic liner so fresh stems can sit in water or wet foam without soaking the board.

Ribbon handles, satin pull tabs and a ribbon tied around the lid are all simple ways to make a round box easier to carry and open. If the box will be posted, we can make a plain outer carton to protect it, because rigid boxes are strong but their wrapped edges can scuff in transit.

For gift boxes that will be handed out at events or in shops, consider the carrying experience as a whole. A round box placed in a matching paper bag with a ribbon handle looks finished and is easy to carry, and the bag can be printed with the same pattern as the box wrap. If the box will sit on a shop shelf, a small printed band around the base with the product name helps shoppers know what is inside without lifting the lid.

Who Buys Round Rigid Boxes

Florists and flower subscription services use them for signature arrangements. Candle makers use them for luxury candles and gift sets. Chocolatiers and patisseries use them for macarons and truffles. Beauty brands use them for bath bombs, body butters and gift sets. Fashion brands use them for hats, scarves and accessories. Corporate gift teams use them for client presents that need to feel personal.

Many of these businesses order more than one size, so a family of round boxes in matching artwork can cover the full range from small gifts to statement pieces.

Wedding and event planners use them too, especially for favour boxes, bridesmaid gifts and table centrepieces, where a set of matching round boxes can carry the colour scheme of the day. Because the boxes are made to last, recipients often keep them, which turns a one-off gift into something that stays in the home and keeps your brand in sight. A printed tag or sticker can carry names or table numbers without changing the box artwork. Candle brands that want a dark wrap choose our black round boxes for candles.

Measure the Diameter Inside the Lid

Round boxes are specified by the inside diameter and the inside height, and the lid adds to both, so when you measure an existing box or a product, give us the inside figures and say whether the lid is a shallow cap or a full-depth sleeve. A candle jar needs 5 mm of clearance around it; a flower arrangement needs the diameter of the foam and the height to the tallest stem. Tell us what is going in, because a box for fresh flowers is lined and a box for a candle is not. Choose the wrap and the foil, and whether the inside is lined in a contrasting colour. Artwork is a logo for the lid and any inside print, sent as vector files, and the free proof shows the lid, the base wrap and the inside. A custom quote comes by email within one working day and nothing goes to production until you approve. Boxes are made in 4–7 working days after approval and arrive made up on free tracked UK mainland delivery. A lighter folding version is on our round gift boxes in folding card page.

Round Rigid Boxes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering round rigid boxes.

Can round rigid boxes hold fresh flowers?

Yes. We add a plastic liner that holds wet floral foam or water so the board stays dry.

Do round rigid boxes fold flat?

No, rigid boxes are made in their final shape. They take more storage space but feel much sturdier than folding boxes.

What size round box suits a candle?

Measure the vessel diameter and height and allow a few millimetres all round plus an insert. A 110 mm diameter box suits many jar candles.

Can we add ribbon handles?

Yes. Ribbon handles threaded through the base make flower and gift boxes easy to carry.

Which finish suits a luxury gift brand?

A coloured specialty wrap with a foil logo on the lid is the most popular choice. Velvet-touch papers add a soft, high-end feel.

Can the inside of a round lid carry print?

Yes, we can print a message, a pattern or a brand colour inside the lid, or line the base in a contrasting colour. The inside lining is applied before the lid is assembled. It is shown on the proof.

Can we order matching boxes in several sizes?

Yes. Families of round boxes in the same artwork are common, and nesting sets can fit inside each other for display.

Are round rigid boxes suitable for posting?

They are strong, but the wrapped edges can scuff. We can supply a plain outer carton for shipping.

Do you make tall round tubes for bottles?

Yes. Tubes with lids or end caps suit wine, spirits, scarves and rolled prints.

Can a round box lid have a clear window?

Yes, a clear window in the lid shows flowers or products inside while keeping them protected. The window is a disc of film fitted inside the rigid lid. Keep the contents below the lid so nothing touches the film.

How long does a run of round rigid boxes take?

We start making your order the day the proof is approved, finish it within 4–7 working days and send it free by tracked delivery, arriving on the UK mainland in 2–3 working days. Round boxes are made up by hand, so very large runs may take a day or two longer. We say so on the quote.
