Essential Oil Boxes
Essential oil boxes are small printed cartons made to hold a single dropper bottle firmly and carry the blend name, botanical name and safety notes. We size them for 5ml, 10ml, 15ml and 30ml bottles for aromatherapy brands, therapists and gift shops.

Small Bottles, Plenty to Say
An essential oil bottle has very little label space, yet the customer wants to know the oil, its Latin name, the origin, how to dilute it and what to avoid. The carton is where most of that information lives, which is why it carries more text than a plain 10 ml bottle box. A well-planned box gives the front panel to the brand and the oil name, a side panel to directions, and the back to cautions and batch details, so the bottle label can stay clean.
The box also keeps light off amber glass on a bright shop shelf and stops bottles rolling around in a delivery parcel. For brands sold in gift shops and spas, it is often the deciding factor when a shopper compares two lavender oils at the same price.
Therapists who blend oils for clients use boxes in a slightly different way. A plain branded carton with space for a handwritten blend name lets them hand over a personal mix that still looks professional, without printing a new design for each client.
Gift shops, meanwhile, often stock oils next to candles and diffusers. A carton that shares colours with those products ties a small range together and encourages a shopper to buy two or three items at once.
Getting the Fit Right for Each Bottle
Bottle sizes vary more than people expect. A 10ml euro dropper from one supplier may be several millimetres taller than another once the orifice reducer and cap are fitted, so follow the guide to measuring a product with the closure on. Measure the bottle with its cap on, at its widest point, and tell us if you use a dropper cap, a roller ball or a pipette, since a glass pipette adds real height.
A neck insert, a simple card piece with a hole for the bottle shoulder, stops the bottle sliding inside the carton and keeps the cap from pressing against the lid. It costs little and makes the box feel more considered.
If you are switching bottle suppliers, order a few sample bottles first and send us the measurements of the new ones. Even small changes in shoulder shape can make a neck insert too loose or too tight.
For multi-pack sets, such as a trio of sleep, focus and calm blends, we can make a wider box with a three-hole insert rather than three separate cartons. Shoppers like a set as a gift, and you save on handling.
- 5ml and 10ml: slim tuck end cartons with a neck insert
- 15ml: slightly wider carton, often with a hang tab for display
- 30ml: taller box that suits a pipette or pump top
- Roller bottles: narrow carton with extra height for the ball fitting

Board and Print That Suit Aromatherapy
White folding boxboard gives sharp, true colour for botanical illustrations and photographic artwork. Kraft board suits brands with a herbal, apothecary feel, and it takes white ink or a single dark colour well. Many oil ranges use one shared design with a colour band that changes per oil, so a shopper can find peppermint, tea tree and eucalyptus at a glance.
Where oils might leak, ask for a laminated inside face. It will not make the box waterproof, but it stops a small drip from soaking through and staining the print.
Board thickness matters on tall 30ml cartons. A thin board can bow on a tall, narrow box when it is squeezed in a shopping bag; a slightly heavier board keeps the corners square and the print smooth.
Finishes for Shelf Presence
Matt lamination gives a calm, soft look that suits wellbeing brands. Soft-touch lamination feels velvety in the hand and pairs well with gold foil on the oil name; the print and finish options compared page shows both. Spot gloss can pick out a leaf or flower on an otherwise matt box. Embossing a botanical motif adds texture without any extra ink, which some brands prefer for a minimal look.
If your boxes will hang on pegs in a shop, add a hang tab to the top flap; a euro slot is the usual choice.
A useful habit is to order one small proof run of a new finish before committing a whole range. Soft-touch and foil look different under shop lighting than on a screen, and seeing them on the shelf helps you decide.
Building a Range That Grows
Most aromatherapy brands start with a handful of single oils and add blends, roll-ons and carrier oils over time. Designing the first boxes with that growth in mind saves reworking later, and the aromatherapy gift boxes can share the same artwork. Keep the logo, typeface and layout consistent, and let one element, often a coloured strip or a small illustration, change from oil to oil.
When a new oil joins the range, we only need the new name, colour and any text changes. The dieline stays the same, so the new boxes match the existing stock exactly and the proof is quick to approve.
It also helps to note which oils sell fastest. Ordering larger quantities of your best sellers and smaller runs of the rest keeps cash free for stock rather than tied up in boxes waiting on a shelf.
Planning the Text Panels
Write your box copy before artwork begins. List the oil name, botanical name, volume, directions for use, dilution guidance, cautions and the batch and best-before area, as you would for a printed candle label. Check the text with whoever handles your product compliance, as we print what you supply. Keep small text at a readable size in a dark ink on a light background, and leave a clear area for a batch sticker or stamp if those details change each run.
For a range of many oils, one dieline and a set of artwork files that change only the oil name and colour band keeps the order simple and the price sensible.
Two languages on a 10ml carton is possible but tight, so we may suggest a slightly larger box or a folded leaflet inside.
Write the Dilution and Caution Text Before the Bottle Is Measured
Essential oil cartons are small and text-heavy, so the copy decides the layout more than the bottle does. Write the oil name, botanical name, volume, directions, dilution guidance and cautions first, check them against your own compliance advice, and count the lines; a 10 ml carton with six lines of cautions needs a different panel plan from one with two. Then measure the bottle with its dropper, roller or pipette fitted, at its widest point. If you sell several oils, list them all so one layout with a colour band can cover the range and each version gets its own proof.
Send the bottle sizes, the number of oils and the quantity of each, and a custom quote comes by email within one working day, from £0.25 a box depending on size and quantity, minimums low and set per job. A free design proof is sent for every version. Production takes 4 to 7 working days after approval and free tracked delivery reaches UK mainland addresses in 2 to 3 working days. Brands adding a roll-on line usually order the oil boxes with a neck insert in the same run.

Essential Oil Boxes Questions
What buyers ask before ordering essential oil boxes.
How do I measure my oil bottle for a box?
Measure the height with the cap or dropper fitted and the width at the widest point. Tell us the closure type too, because pipettes and roller balls change the height noticeably.
Do I need a neck insert in a 10ml box?
It is not essential, but it stops the bottle sliding and protects the cap. Most brands add one because it makes the box feel neater when opened.
Can I print one design across many different oils?
Yes. A shared layout with a colour band and oil name that change per version is common. We proof each version so you can check every name.
Will the box stop oil from staining through?
A laminated inner face helps stop small drips soaking through the board. It is not a sealed container, so the bottle itself still needs a good closure.
Can you add a hang tab for peg display?
We can add a euro slot or round hole to the top flap. Let us know the peg spacing if you are fitting an existing display.
Is kraft board a good match for herbal oils?
Kraft suits an apothecary look and prints well with dark inks or white ink. Fine small text stays readable on kraft as long as it is set in a dark colour rather than a pale one.
Who checks the safety text on my boxes?
You supply the text and should check it against your own compliance advice. We print exactly what is on the approved proof.
Can I order a 30ml carton alongside 10ml boxes?
Yes. We can quote both sizes together and match the design across them, which suits brands selling single oils and larger carrier oils.
How soon can a new oil range be on shelves?
After proof approval, production takes 4 to 7 working days, then free tracked UK mainland delivery takes 2 to 3 working days. Approve every oil's proof together so the whole range arrives in one delivery.
What does a small run of oil boxes cost?
Prices start from £0.25 a box and depend on size, finish and quantity. Send your details and we will reply with a custom quote within one working day.
Can I leave space for a batch code?
Yes. We can print a clear panel on the base or side for a stamp or small label, so batch details can change without new print.
