Custom Essential Oil Boxes With Inserts

from £0.25 a boxPriced per job · low minimums

Essential oil boxes with inserts hold a collection of small bottles upright in their own holes, so a starter set, a blend trio or a full aromatherapy kit arrives with every bottle standing in its place. Built for Collections, Not Single Bottles

A single bottle of oil usually ships in a slim tuck carton. Once you sell a set, the job changes. Several small glass bottles in one box will clink, tip and roll unless something holds them apart, and a loose bottle with a dropper cap can leak if it lies on its side for a day in a van. An insert with a hole for each bottle fixes all of that in one piece of card or foam.

Sets also sell differently. They are gifts, starter kits and bundles that justify a higher price, so the box carries more of the selling. Customers want to see every bottle at once when they lift the lid, read the names easily and feel that the set has been put together with care. The insert is what makes that first look tidy.

There is a practical side for the seller as well. A fixed insert means anyone on the team can pack a set the same way every time, in the same order, with no guesswork about which oil goes where. Missing bottles are obvious at a glance because there is an empty hole, which cuts down on incomplete orders and the awkward emails that follow.

Insert Layouts That Work

The simplest layout is a single row of holes, which suits a trio of blends in a slim box. A grid of two rows by three is the classic six-oil starter set. Larger kits of nine or twelve oils use a square or rectangular grid, sometimes with a gap in the middle for a diffuser, a roller bottle or a small booklet. Mixed sets can combine different hole sizes, for instance 10 ml dropper bottles alongside larger 30 ml carrier oil bottles. Sets that include a candle or a diffuser use the mixed layouts on our aromatherapy gift boxes with candles page.

  • Single row of three or four holes for blend trios
  • Two-row grids for starter sets of six
  • Larger grids for full collections
  • Mixed hole sizes for oils, roller bottles and carrier oils
  • Recessed areas for a booklet, pipette or small diffuser

Card, Foam or Rigid Platforms

A folded card insert is the most common choice. It has a top deck with die cut holes and folded legs underneath that set the height, so each bottle sits with its shoulders just above the deck. It prints in the same colour as the box and folds flat for storage until you pack. For most dropper bottles it holds firmly enough for retail and careful posting.

Foam inserts grip harder and protect better against knocks. Each bottle presses into a cut-out slightly smaller than its diameter, which stops rattling completely. They suit glass that ships long distances or gift sets that will be opened and closed many times. Rigid gift boxes can take a covered board platform with holes, finished in the same paper as the box, which looks the most premium of all.

Getting the Hole Size Right

Bottle diameters vary between suppliers, even for bottles sold as the same volume. A 10 ml amber dropper from one supplier might be noticeably wider than another, so measure the actual bottle you use, at its widest point, with the cap on. Tell us the height as well, including the dropper or cap. For card inserts we add a very small clearance; for foam we cut slightly under so the bottle is gripped.

If you plan to switch bottle suppliers later, mention it now. We can cut holes that suit both, or design the insert so a new version can be made without changing the outer box. Posting us a sample bottle is the surest way to an accurate fit.

Height matters as much as width. If the insert deck sits too low, bottles disappear into the box and the caps are hard to grip; too high and they wobble. A good rule is for the deck to hold the bottle around its shoulder, with the cap and label top clearly visible. We set the leg height of card inserts to achieve that for your bottle. Our method for measuring dropper bottles covers the pipette and the shoulder.

Box Styles Around the Insert

The insert sits inside whichever box suits your price point. A tuck end carton with a window lid keeps costs down and lets shoppers see the bottle tops. A two-piece lid and base box gives a classic gift feel. A magnetic book box opens like a cover and shows the oils in a single reveal. Drawer boxes with a printed sleeve slide open and are popular for collections sold online.

For direct-to-customer shipping, a printed mailer box with a card insert does two jobs at once: it protects the bottles in the post and presents them neatly on opening, so there is no need for a separate retail box and outer shipper.

Whatever the style, keep the inside depth close to the bottle height plus the insert legs, so the lid presses gently on the caps and stops any lift in transit.

Printing for Aromatherapy Brands

Many aromatherapy brands use calm, natural palettes, and the print can reflect that: soft greens, warm neutrals and botanical illustrations work well on matt or soft touch finishes. Kraft board with one dark colour gives an apothecary look. If you want the box to explain the set, print each oil name and a short description on the inside lid in the same order as the holes, so customers can match them without reading every label.

Foil stamping on the lid adds a quiet luxury touch, and embossing a botanical motif gives texture without extra ink. Keep important safety or usage wording on the outer box in clear type, as some retailers expect it to be visible without opening. Oils sold on their own can match the set with our single oil boxes in the same print.

Send One Bottle of Each Size in the Set

Insert holes are cut to the bottle, so the surest route to a good fit is to post us one bottle of each size in the set, caps and droppers fitted. Glass from different suppliers varies by a millimetre, which is enough to make a hole loose or tight. If posting is not practical, measure each bottle at its widest point and its full height with the dropper on. Then tell us the layout, a row of three, a grid of six, a circle of twelve, and whether a booklet or a roller ball needs a slot too. Decide card, foam or a rigid platform by how the set travels: foam for courier parcels, card for shop shelves. Artwork is the box design and the insert colour, sent as vector files, and the free proof shows both together. A custom quote comes by email within one working day, minimums are quoted per job, and production takes 4–7 working days after approval with free tracked UK mainland delivery. Sets that deserve a wrapped rigid box move to our rigid boxes for premium sets.

Essential Oil Boxes with Inserts Questions

What buyers ask before ordering essential oil boxes with inserts.

What hole size do I need for 10 ml dropper bottles?

It depends on your bottle supplier, as diameters vary. Measure the widest point with the cap on, or post us a sample. We cut card holes with a slight clearance and foam holes slightly under size so the bottle is gripped.

Can one insert hold different bottle sizes?

Yes. Mixed inserts can hold 5 ml, 10 ml and 30 ml bottles together, or roller bottles alongside droppers. We plan the layout so the tops sit at a pleasing height.

Is card or foam better for posting oil sets?

Foam gives a tighter grip and better shock protection for posting. Card works well for retail and short journeys. A printed mailer with either insert is a good choice for direct shipping.

Can I add space for a booklet in the set?

A recess or a slot in the insert can hold a booklet, a usage card or a pipette. It keeps the extras tidy and visible when the lid opens.

Will the insert be printed in my brand colours?

Card inserts can be printed in the same colours as the box. Foam is supplied in standard colours such as black or white, and rigid platforms can be wrapped in a matching paper.

Can I change bottle supplier later?

Mention it before ordering and we can size the holes to suit both bottles, or design the insert so it can be remade without changing the box. A new insert is cheaper than a new box. Keep one bottle from each supplier for checking.

What box style shows the oils best?

A magnetic book box or a lid and base box shows all the bottles in one reveal. A window carton lets shoppers see the tops without opening.

Can you print the oil names on the insert?

Oil names can be printed on the insert deck beside each hole or inside the lid in a matching layout. Customers can then find each oil quickly.

Do inserts arrive folded?

Card inserts usually arrive flat and fold into shape in a few seconds. Foam inserts arrive ready to use. Rigid platforms come fitted in their boxes.

How soon can a new oil collection be packed?

Allow 4–7 working days for production after you approve the proof, then 2–3 working days for free tracked delivery to UK mainland addresses. The insert and the box are made together, so they arrive in one delivery. Add a few days at the start for the proof.

What if bottles are loose in the delivered inserts?

If inserts do not match the agreed proof, report it within 10 days and we reprint or refund. Check a sample bottle fit as soon as stock arrives.
