Custom Cylinder Perfume Boxes
Custom cylinder perfume boxes are rigid paper tubes with a lid that slides off to reveal the bottle standing inside, a round alternative to the usual square carton. We build each tube to your bottle's height and diameter, fit an insert to hold it steady and wrap it in printed paper finished to suit your fragrance.

Why Fragrance Brands Go Round
Walk along any perfume counter and almost all the boxes are rectangles. A cylinder breaks that line at once. It catches light differently, it sits comfortably in the hand and it suggests something made with care rather than folded on a machine. Niche perfumers, attar houses and independent fragrance labels use the round form to signal that their scent is worth a second look.
The opening matters too. Lifting a snug lid from a tube creates a slow, gentle release as air works its way in, and the bottle rises into view standing upright. It is a small moment, but it is exactly the kind of detail people mention when they post an unboxing or give the fragrance as a present.
A round tube also travels well. With no sharp corners to crush, it tolerates a knock in a courier bag better than a thin carton, and it slips neatly into a gift bag or a hamper without catching. For brands selling mainly online, that combination of protection and presentation is hard to beat. Brands that keep a square carton for retail and a tube for gifting pair this page with the custom perfume boxes for retail shelves.
How Custom Cylinder Perfume Boxes Are Made
The body of the tube is wound from layers of paperboard into a rigid core, then cut to length. A base disc closes one end, and a lid tube with a slightly larger diameter slides over the top. The outside is wrapped in a printed or coloured paper, and the edges are rolled neatly inside so no raw board shows. The result feels solid, holds its shape under pressure and does not dent the way a thin folding carton can.
There are a few construction options to choose from. A two-piece tube has a lid and base of equal or unequal height. A three-piece tube adds an inner neck that stands proud of the base, so the lid sits on a ledge and the join looks clean. Some brands prefer a full-height lid that slides all the way down to the base for a clean, uninterrupted cylinder. The same construction with a heavier wrap is shown on the luxury paper tubes with thick walls page.
- Two-piece tube: lid and base, simple and elegant
- Three-piece tube: inner neck for a flush, tight-fitting lid
- Full-height lid: one continuous surface for wrap-around artwork
- Window tube: clear panel cut into the wall to show the bottle

Sizing the Tube Around Your Bottle
Perfume bottles come in every shape, from slim roll-ons to heavy faceted glass with a large cap. A cylinder has to clear the widest point of the bottle, which is often the shoulder or the cap rather than the base. Measure the diagonal across a square bottle, not just its width, because that diagonal is the smallest inside diameter that will fit.
Height is measured from the base to the top of the cap with the atomiser fitted. We then add room for the insert underneath and a little headroom above. Sending a bottle sample is the most reliable way to get a perfect fit, especially for unusual shapes, but accurate measurements and a photo usually give us enough to prepare the proof.
Think about the label on the bottle as well. Some fragrance labels are slightly raised or have a ribbon tag around the neck, and these add a few millimetres to the diameter. A tube that is too tight will rub the label over time, so it is always better to build in a little clearance and let the insert do the work of holding the bottle steady. Our guide to measuring a product for packaging covers bottles with wide caps.
Inserts That Stop the Bottle Rattling
A round tube around a square or oval bottle leaves gaps, and gaps mean movement. An insert fills that space. The simplest is a card disc with a cut-out matching the base of the bottle, placed in the bottom of the tube. For heavier glass, a foam or EVA insert lined with velvet or satin holds the bottle by its sides, so it cannot tip even if the tube is laid on its side.
Cap protection is often overlooked. A shaped card collar near the top of the tube supports the shoulder, keeping the cap away from the lid so it never knocks against it. That matters most for metal or wooden caps that could mark the inside of the lid over time. Foam and card collars are drawn up the same way as the inserts we cut for product boxes.
Wraps, Colours and Finishing Touches
The outer wrap carries the brand. A printed art paper takes full colour artwork, gradients and photography. Speciality textured papers, such as linen-effect, laid or leather-grain stocks, add a tactile, high-end feel with very little print. A deep black or rich jewel tone paper with a single gold foil logo is a perennial favourite in fragrance packaging.
Finishes can be layered. Soft-touch lamination gives a velvety feel, foil stamping adds metallic accents that wrap around the curve, and embossing or debossing lifts a logo from the surface. Because a cylinder is seen from every angle, it is worth thinking about how the design flows around the tube rather than designing a single front face.
Matching the Tube to the Rest of Your Range
A cylinder can sit within a wider family. Many brands use tubes for their full-size eau de parfum and slim tubes or matching discovery boxes for samples. Others keep the same wrap paper and foil colour across body mists, candles and room sprays so the brand is instantly recognisable.
If you sell several scents, consider a fixed design with one changing element, such as a coloured band on the lid or a differently coloured base. It keeps print costs sensible and lets customers identify a scent on a crowded vanity.
Retail buyers appreciate consistency as well. If a department store or concept shop takes your range, tubes of one diameter in two or three heights line up neatly on a shelf and look deliberate. Mixing many diameters can look untidy, so where possible we suggest choosing a small set of standard tube sizes and adjusting the inserts to suit each bottle rather than creating a new tube for every product. Gift pairs of a bottle with a body mist suit the perfume gift boxes with two compartments.
Measure the Cap Separately From the Bottle
Perfume bottles are usually narrower than their caps, and a tube sized to the glass alone will not close over a wide wooden or metal cap. Measure the bottle's diameter at the shoulder, then the cap at its widest point, and the full height with the cap on. The tube is built to the larger of the two diameters with 3 mm of clearance, and the insert holds the bottle at the shoulder so the cap never touches the lid. Tell us how many units you need per scent, as sizes are often shared across a range with different inserts.
A custom quote is emailed within one working day, with minimums kept low and quoted for the job, which suits a small-batch perfumer testing a launch. The free proof is sent before production; tubes are made in 4 to 7 working days after approval and delivered free and tracked across the UK mainland in 2 to 3 working days, and any that arrive dented or misprinted are reprinted or refunded if reported within 10 days. Discovery sets of several vials for the same range are covered on the perfume sample boxes for discovery sets page.

Cylinder Perfume Boxes Questions
What buyers ask before ordering cylinder perfume boxes.
Will a square perfume bottle fit in a round tube?
Yes, as long as the tube clears the bottle's diagonal. We then add an insert to fill the gaps so the bottle cannot move.
How tight should the lid be?
Snug enough to hold on when the tube is lifted by the lid, but loose enough to slide off smoothly. A three-piece tube with an inner neck gives the most controlled fit.
Can a cylinder perfume box show the bottle through a window?
Yes. A window is cut in the tube wall before wrapping and backed with clear film, and it works best for bottles with an unusual shape or coloured juice. The proof shows the window on the flat wrap so you can check it lines up with the bottle.
Which insert is best for heavy glass bottles?
A foam or EVA insert lined with satin or velvet holds heavy glass by its sides. A card base disc is enough for lighter bottles.
Can artwork wrap all the way around?
Yes. The wrap paper is printed flat and rolled around the tube, so patterns can run continuously. We mark the join line on the proof.
What finishes suit a luxury fragrance?
Soft-touch lamination with gold or silver foil is a classic choice. Textured papers with a debossed logo give a quieter, tactile luxury.
Can I use the same tube for several scents?
Many brands do. Keep one tube size and change a coloured band, foil colour or label for each scent, with quantities split in one order.
Can you add a ribbon to pull the bottle out?
A ribbon pull tab under the insert lets the bottle be lifted out cleanly from a tight tube, which is handy for slim bottles.
Do cylinder boxes cost more than folding cartons?
They usually do, because each tube is wound and wrapped. Your custom quote will show the price for your size and quantity so you can compare.
Do you need a sample bottle to size a cylinder perfume box?
For an unusual bottle shape, yes, because the insert is cut around it and a sample is the surest way to get the fit right. For standard round or square bottles, accurate measurements of the glass and the cap plus a photo are usually enough.
How quickly can tubes be ready for a launch date?
After the proof is approved, allow 4 to 7 working days for production, then 2 to 3 working days for free tracked UK mainland delivery.
