The Wrap Around the Wrap
A burrito is one of the most demanding foods to package. A large flour tortilla packed with rice, beans, meat, salsa and sour cream is heavy, hot and wet, and it wants to fall apart the moment it leaves the griddle. The paper around it does the structural work: it keeps the roll tight, catches drips, holds in heat and gives the customer something clean to grip while they peel it back bite by bite.
Because the customer holds the paper for the whole meal, it is also one of the most visible pieces of branding a burrito shop owns. A boldly printed sheet shows up in every photo posted from a lunch break, sits on desks across an office and travels down the street in people's hands. Plain foil does the job, but it says nothing about who made the food.
The right sheet also speeds up the line. Staff who can wrap a burrito in one smooth movement, with a sheet that is the right size and folds cleanly, serve the queue faster than those wrestling with an oversized roll of foil. A wrap that doubles as a plate is the same idea behind burger wrapping paper for street food, just in a larger square.
Foil-Lined or Greaseproof?
Foil-lined paper, sometimes called honeycomb or insulated wrap, has a thin aluminium layer laminated to paper. The foil side faces the food, holding in heat and steam, while the paper side carries your print. It folds and holds its shape better than plain foil, so the burrito stays rolled even when half eaten. It is the go-to choice for hot, saucy burritos and for delivery orders.
Greaseproof paper is a plain paper treated to resist oil. It is lighter, lets a little steam escape so tortillas do not go soggy, and takes print well on both sides. It suits smaller burritos, wraps eaten straight away, and kitchens that grill or toast the tortilla after wrapping.
Some shops use both: greaseproof for dine-in, foil-lined for takeaway and delivery. Printing both with the same design keeps the look consistent. Plain greaseproof for the inside layer can be seen on the greaseproof paper sheets page, which lists the standard sheet sizes.

Choosing a Size of Custom Burrito Wrapping Paper
Sheet size follows tortilla size. A 300 mm tortilla, the common size for a full burrito, wraps comfortably in a sheet of around 350 by 350 mm, which leaves room to fold the ends and tuck the bottom. Larger tortillas and overstuffed burritos need 400 mm square or more. Smaller wraps, quesadillas and tacos to go can use 250 to 300 mm sheets.
Square sheets are easiest to wrap with. Rectangular sheets suit shops that roll the burrito diagonally with the end left open for eating. If you are not sure, wrap a few burritos in plain paper of different sizes and see which leaves the neatest fold with the least waste.
Sheet size also affects cost and storage. An oversized sheet used across a whole menu wastes paper on every small order, so many shops keep two sizes on the line. The tortilla test is the paper equivalent of the advice in our guide to measuring your product: wrap the real thing first.
Print That Works on a Food Wrap
Wraps are folded, crumpled and partially covered by hands, so all-over patterns work far better than a single centred logo. A repeating pattern of your logo, an icon such as a chilli or cactus, or a short phrase means the brand is visible however the sheet ends up. One or two bold colours print cleanly on both foil-lined and greaseproof stocks.
We keep ink away from the food wherever possible: food-contact grade paper is available on request, and we print on the outer side of foil-lined sheets so the food touches the foil, not the ink. For greaseproof, many shops print a light pattern so it reads well without heavy ink coverage near the food.
Colour-coded sheets are handy for busy kitchens. A red print for spicy, green for vegetarian and a plain design for the standard menu helps staff and customers tell orders apart in a delivery bag. Ink choices and how they sit on absorbent paper are covered in the print options comparison.
Using Burrito Paper on the Line
Store sheets flat, close to the assembly station and away from steam. Pre-cut sheets in a dispenser box let staff pull one at a time without tearing. For foil-lined paper, place the tortilla on the foil side, roll tightly, fold in the ends and give one final roll so the paper overlaps itself; the foil memory holds it closed.
For delivery, wrap the burrito and then place it seam down in a box or bag so it does not unroll. A printed sticker across the seam can carry the order number or flavour, which speeds up packing.
Train new staff on a few spare sheets before service. Wrapping tightly is a knack, and a tidy wrap holds together better than any paper can on its own. Kitchens that line baskets with the offcuts tend to order lighter deli paper sheets for that job and keep the burrito paper for wrapping.
Beyond Burritos
Once you have custom paper, it often finds other jobs. The same foil-lined sheets wrap breakfast rolls, kebabs, shawarma and hot sandwiches. Greaseproof sheets line baskets of nachos and trays of tacos. A few kitchens use a larger sheet as a tray liner under rice bowls so the branding still appears on dine-in orders.
Thinking about these uses before ordering helps you pick the size and stock that cover the most dishes with the fewest variations, which simplifies stock and keeps costs down.
Some shops also print a small run of sheets for collaborations, pop-ups or a guest chef menu. Because the sheet is cheap per piece and quick to swap, a limited design is an easy way to create a bit of excitement without changing any of your permanent packaging. For lining a tray under loaded fries, the general food wrapping paper in the same print saves ordering a separate pattern.
Test the Fold With Your Largest Tortilla
Before settling on a sheet size, wrap your biggest burrito in a sheet of plain greaseproof cut to the size you are considering. If the ends do not tuck under with at least 40 mm of overlap, go up a size. A 12 inch tortilla rolled tight usually needs a 300 by 300 mm sheet; a 14 inch loaded burrito wants 350 by 350 mm. The test takes a minute and saves a run of sheets that are slightly too small.
Then send the sheet size, the paper type, the number of ink colours and a rough monthly quantity, or send a tortilla size and let us suggest a sheet. A quote arrives by email within one working day. The free proof shows the repeat pattern at true scale so you can judge how much of the logo is visible once the paper is rolled. Sheets are printed in 4 to 7 working days after approval and arrive by tracked courier, included for UK mainland addresses; faint or smudged print reported within 10 days is reprinted or refunded. Vans that also serve tacos usually order smaller taco paper sheets in the same pattern.

Burrito Wrapping Paper Questions
What buyers ask before ordering burrito wrapping paper.
Which paper keeps a burrito hottest?
Foil-lined paper holds in heat and steam best, and it keeps the roll tight. It is the usual choice for takeaway and delivery.
What size sheet fits a 300 mm tortilla?
A sheet around 350 mm square wraps a full 300 mm burrito with room to fold the ends. Overstuffed burritos may need 400 mm.
Does the ink touch the food?
On foil-lined sheets we print the paper side, so the food sits against the foil. Food-contact grade paper is available on request for greaseproof sheets.
Can burrito paper be printed on both faces?
The outside face carries the design, and we print the inside only when you ask for it, since that face sits against the tortilla. Most vans keep the inside plain and use the outside for a repeat pattern, which hides the join wherever the roll finishes. A one-colour inside print is possible for a slogan that appears as the wrap is opened.
Why use a repeating pattern rather than one big logo?
Wraps are folded and held, so a single logo is often hidden. A repeat pattern keeps your brand visible however the burrito is wrapped.
Will greaseproof paper make the tortilla soggy?
Greaseproof lets a little steam escape, which helps prevent sogginess on wraps eaten quickly or toasted after wrapping.
Can the same sheets wrap other dishes?
Yes. Many shops use them for breakfast rolls, kebabs and hot sandwiches, or as tray liners for dine-in orders.
Do you supply sheets in a dispenser?
We can pack pre-cut sheets in dispenser boxes so staff pull one at a time without tearing the stack.
How much does printed burrito paper cost?
Sheets start from £0.25 each on smaller runs and become cheaper with volume. You will receive a custom quote by email within one working day.
Can I order two sizes in one design?
Yes. Using the same artwork across two sheet sizes keeps your brand consistent while reducing waste on smaller orders.
How soon could a new food truck have its paper?
Allow four to seven working days after proof approval, then two to three working days for free tracked delivery to the UK mainland.
