Custom Fish and Chip Paper
Custom fish and chip paper is the greaseproof sheet your fryer staff reach for again and again through a busy night, printed with your shop name so every open parcel on a park bench carries your branding. We cut it to the size your counter already uses and print it in inks that sit happily against hot, vinegary food.

Printed Fish and Chip Paper for the Busy Counter
Walk into most chippies and the wrapping routine is the same: a cod or haddock fillet goes on a pile of chips, a scoop of mushy peas might sit in a pot alongside, and the whole lot is folded into a tight parcel in a few seconds. The paper has to fold cleanly, hold its shape once the corners are tucked, and stop fat from seeping out onto the customer's hands or car seat. Plain sheets do the job, but they say nothing about who cooked the food.
A printed sheet changes that without slowing anyone down. Your shop name, phone number or a simple newsprint-style pattern goes on the outer face, so the parcel looks like yours from the moment it leaves the fryer. Customers who eat on the seafront or in the car see your branding the whole time they are eating, and regulars start to recognise the paper as part of the meal. The same print files can be reused for printed greaseproof paper if you want a matching range.
Choosing the Right Greaseproof Grade
Not every greaseproof paper behaves the same under a portion of freshly fried fish. Lighter sheets are fine as an inner wrap or a liner under a cardboard tray, where they only need to catch drips. If the paper is the whole parcel, a heavier grade with better grease resistance keeps the outside dry for longer and is less likely to split when staff fold it tight.
We usually suggest one of three set-ups. Some shops use a single printed sheet and nothing else. Others pair a plain inner sheet with a printed outer sheet, which keeps the print looking clean even with very oily batter. A third option is a printed liner under a box or tray, popular with shops that sell a lot of takeaway delivery and want the box to do the structural work. Shops that serve chips in cones or baskets can add printed fries paper liners in the same design.
- Lighter greaseproof for liners, cones and tray inserts
- Mid-weight sheets as an everyday full wrap for a standard portion
- Heavier grades for large portions, family packs and very hot, oily batter
- Food-contact grade paper available on request for the face that touches food

Sheet Sizes That Match Your Portions
The quickest way to waste paper is to buy one size for everything. A child's portion of chips wrapped in a sheet meant for a large cod looks lost, and staff end up tearing sheets by hand. Most shops settle on two sizes: a smaller sheet for chips, sausages and kids' meals, and a larger one for fish suppers and anything with two pieces of fish.
If you are not sure, measure the sheets you buy now, or send us one in the post. We match the dimensions so your wrapping technique does not change, then adjust if staff tell us they are always folding over an extra flap. Sheets come cut and stacked in packs that sit flat beside the fryer, so there is no roll to wrestle with during the Friday rush.
Think about storage as well. Packs of cut sheets live next to a hot range, so we band them in quantities your staff can lift with one hand and keep them flat in the carton until they are needed. Sheets kept away from steam and splashes stay crisp, fold neatly and print stays sharp to the last pack in the box. If you also wrap burgers or sausages, our branded burger wrapping paper comes in smaller sheets.
Print Styles That Survive Hot, Wet Food
Fish and chip paper does not need complicated artwork. Bold one or two colour designs read best on greaseproof, and they keep each run affordable. A repeating pattern of your logo across the whole sheet means the branding shows however the parcel is folded, which matters because no two staff members wrap in quite the same way.
Mock newspaper prints remain a favourite. They nod to the old way of serving chips without putting real newsprint anywhere near food, and you can fill the columns with your own menu, opening hours or a short story about the shop. Other owners prefer a clean chequerboard or a simple border with their name in the corner. We send a free design proof before anything is printed, so you can see how the repeat lands on the sheet size you have chosen. Our guide comparing print methods and finishes covers how print sits on different stocks.
- Newspaper-style layouts filled with your own headlines and menu
- All-over logo repeats that show on every fold
- Chequerboard or stripe patterns in your shop colours
- Single corner logo for a tidy, low-ink look
Who Orders Branded Chip Paper
Traditional fish and chip shops are the obvious buyers, but they are not the only ones. Seaside kiosks use printed sheets to make a small hatch look established. Pubs that run a fish Friday menu wrap portions in branded paper and serve them in enamel trays for a casual look. Food vans that trade at markets and events want something that photographs well, because customers post their food online before they take a bite.
Caterers who serve fish and chips at weddings and parties also order short runs with the couple's names or an event logo. Because minimums are quoted per job, a one-off run for a single event is possible, and you can come back later for your everyday sheets in a different design.
Fish and chip shops that also do a takeaway delivery round find printed paper useful in a different way. When the parcel is opened at home, the branding is the first thing on the kitchen table, which keeps your name in mind next time the family argues about where to order from. A phone number or web address printed along one edge turns the wrapper into a menu card nobody has to remember to pick up. Cafés with a basket service often add printed food basket liners to the same order.
Ordering Tips Before You Send Artwork
Start with the sizes and the grade, then think about the design. Send us the sheet dimensions, how many you use in a typical week and whether the paper is a full wrap or a liner. We reply with a custom quote by email within one working day, with prices from £0.25 depending on size and quantity, and suggest any changes that could make the job cheaper.
Once you approve the proof, production takes 4–7 working days, and delivery to UK mainland addresses is free and tracked, normally arriving in 2–3 working days. Order enough to cover your busiest weeks plus a buffer, because running out on a Friday and falling back to plain paper undoes the effort. If anything arrives misprinted or damaged, tell us within 10 days and we reprint or refund it. The full food wrapping papers range lists the other sheets you can print alongside your chip paper.

Fish and Chip Paper Questions
What buyers ask before ordering fish and chip paper.
Will the print rub off onto hot chips?
The print goes on the outer face of the sheet, and the side that touches the food can be left unprinted. If you wrap with two sheets, the plain inner sheet keeps the food away from ink altogether. Food-contact grade paper is available on request for the face against the food.
Can you copy the size of the paper I already use?
Yes. Measure a sheet or post one to us and we match it so your staff do not have to change how they fold. If you find you are always trimming or overlapping, we can adjust the size on the next run.
Is a mock newspaper design allowed on food paper?
A printed newspaper-style layout is fine because it is your own artwork printed in inks suited to food wrapping, not real newsprint. Many shops fill the columns with their menu, history or opening times. We set it out on the proof so you can check every headline.
How heavy should the paper be for a full wrap?
If the sheet is the only layer around a fish supper, a mid-weight or heavier greaseproof grade is the safer choice. Lighter paper is better kept for liners and cones. Tell us how you serve and we recommend a grade in the quote.
Can I order brown paper instead of white?
Yes, brown greaseproof gives a more rustic look and hides small grease marks well. Dark single-colour print shows up clearly on it. White paper suits brighter, multi-colour designs.
Do you supply the sheets cut or on a roll?
We supply cut sheets stacked in packs, which is what most counters prefer because staff can grab one sheet at a time. Pre-folded sheets are also possible if your wrapping method suits them.
I run a food van at markets. Is a small run worthwhile?
Minimums are quoted per job, so a shorter run for a van or market stall can work. Ask for a custom quote with your sheet size and rough weekly usage and we will give you options.
Can the paper match my chip cones and boxes?
Yes. If you also use printed cones, trays or boxes, we can set the paper design in the same colours and logo so everything on the counter looks like one set.
How quickly can I get a reorder before a busy weekend?
Reorders of an approved design skip most of the setup, then production takes 4–7 working days and free tracked delivery to the UK mainland takes 2–3 working days. Order a couple of weeks ahead of your busiest period to be safe.
What happens if a pack arrives with smudged print?
Report it within 10 days with a photo and we reprint the affected sheets or refund them. Keep the packaging so we can check what happened in transit.
Can I put allergen or ordering information on the sheet?
You can add a short line such as your phone number, website or a note to ask staff about allergens. Keep detailed allergen information on your menu board, as the sheet is folded and torn open during eating.
