Custom A4 Presentation Folders

from £0.25 a folderPriced per job · low minimums

Custom A4 presentation folders hold proposals, price lists, contracts and welcome letters together in one branded cover, with a slot for a business card so the client always knows who to call. We print them on heavy board with pockets, laminate them so they survive a briefcase, and size them to take A4 sheets with room to spare.

Why Loose Paperwork Lets You Down

A proposal printed on good paper loses much of its effect if it is handed over as a loose stack or slid across the table in a plastic wallet. Pages get separated, the brochure ends up in a different pile from the price list, and a week later the client cannot remember which company sent which document. A printed folder keeps everything in one place and puts your name on the outside of the pack.

Folders also signal care. When a prospective client, new employee or parent receives a folder printed in your colours, with documents neatly tucked into a pocket and a business card held in a slit, it feels prepared. That first impression carries into how seriously the contents are read.

Because a folder is reused, it tends to stay on desks and in filing trays far longer than a single leaflet. Every time it is opened, your brand is in front of the reader again. Firms that send paperwork out by post often slip the finished folder into printed C4 envelopes that match, so the branding carries through from letterbox to desk.

Pocket and Card Slit Options

The standard layout is a folder that opens like a book with one pocket on the inside right flap. Two-pocket folders have a pocket on each side, which lets you separate a proposal from supporting documents or a form to return. Pocket shapes can be straight across, angled or curved, and the pocket edge can be glued or folded with locking tabs.

Business card slits are small die-cut cuts in the pocket that hold a standard card at the corners. One slit is usual, but two slits let a team include both an account manager and a technical contact. A slot for a USB stick, a CD sleeve or a capacity spine for thicker documents can be added if needed.

Think about the order in which the reader should meet each document. The sheet at the front of the right pocket is what they see first, so that is where a cover letter or summary belongs, with detailed terms and appendices behind it. In a two-pocket folder, the left side often holds background material such as a company brochure, while the right holds the documents that ask for a decision. Getting this sequence right makes the pack easier to follow and gives the most important page the best position. Brands that want the card to be the first thing a client sees sometimes swap the slit for a shallow pocket folder with a card window.

Sizing Custom A4 Presentation Folders

An A4 sheet measures 210 x 297 mm, so the closed folder needs to be slightly larger to protect the edges of the paperwork. A typical closed size is around 220 x 310 mm, which leaves a margin all round. If you plan to insert brochures that are slightly larger than A4, or documents in clear sleeves, tell us so the folder and pockets can be sized up a little.

Capacity matters too. A flat folder holds a modest stack of sheets comfortably. If you regularly include a brochure, a price list, a contract and several letters, a capacity spine of a few millimetres stops the folder bowing open. We show the spine and pocket depth on the proof. Our measuring guide for custom packaging explains how to work out a spine width from a stack of paper.

Board, Print and Lamination

Presentation folders are printed on heavy board so they stand up in the hand and protect the documents inside. A silk or gloss board gives sharp colour reproduction, while uncoated board has a softer, more natural feel that suits writing on. For folders that will be carried around and handled often, matt or gloss lamination protects against scuffs, coffee rings and fingerprints.

Soft-touch lamination is a favourite for law firms, architects and premium brands because it feels smooth and expensive. Spot gloss on the logo, foil blocking or embossing can be added for extra impact on the front cover. The inside is a useful space too: print your services, contact details or a short welcome message on the inside left flap so it is visible as soon as the folder is opened.

If you want staff to write on the folder, such as a client name or reference number, leave an area unlaminated or use an uncoated board. The board and card types explained page compares the weights we print folders on.

Who Uses Printed Folders

Our A4 folders are ordered by sales teams handing over proposals, estate agents and letting agents preparing property packs, solicitors and accountants sending engagement documents, schools and colleges issuing prospectus and welcome packs, hotels and venues sending wedding and event information, and HR teams onboarding new staff.

Conference organisers use them for delegate packs, charities use them for donor information, and healthcare practices use them for patient information. Each use benefits from a slightly different layout: a school might want two pockets for forms to return, while a sales team often wants one pocket and a card slit.

Recruitment agencies hand them to candidates attending interviews, and training providers use them to hold course notes, so the folder is often kept on a shelf for reference long after the meeting has ended. Recruiters and training companies often order a run of foil-stamped folders for senior candidates alongside the standard printed version.

Making the Folder Work Hard

Keep the front cover simple and confident. A logo, a short line about what you do and perhaps a strong image are enough. The back cover is a good place for contact details, a map or social links. Resist the urge to fill every space; the documents inside carry the detail.

Order enough to avoid running out mid-campaign, but avoid printing dates, prices or staff names on the folder itself, as these change. Put them on the documents inside instead. A general design that suits every department lets you order one run for the whole organisation and keep unit costs down.

Finally, check the folder with real documents before a big meeting. Slide in the actual pack, close it and carry it around for a moment. If the pocket bulges or the documents slide out when the folder is tilted, a deeper pocket or a capacity spine on the next run will fix it. Loose inserts such as price lists can be printed to match; the folded brochures printed to size fit a standard A4 pocket.

Decide the Pocket Layout Before the Artwork

The order that saves most time on folders is this: settle the inside first, then design the cover. Pick one pocket or two, decide which side carries the business card slits, and work out if a capacity spine is needed for thicker packs. Each of those changes the dieline, and a cover designed before the dieline exists usually needs shifting when the pocket glue flaps are added. The flat dieline comes with the free proof, so you can see exactly where fold lines and slits fall.

From there the process is short. A custom quote comes by email within one working day, folders start from £0.25 each depending on board and lamination, and minimums are set job by job. Printing and finishing take 4 to 7 working days after you sign off the proof, and tracked delivery to UK mainland addresses is free, arriving in 2 to 3 working days. A folder that arrives misprinted or marked is reprinted or refunded if reported within 10 days. If you present larger drawings or plans, the A3 presentation folders for larger documents use the same pocket and slit options.

A4 Presentation Folders Questions

What buyers ask before ordering A4 presentation folders.

Will A4 sheets fit inside without sticking out?

Yes, the folder is made slightly larger than A4, typically around 220 x 310 mm closed. That leaves a margin so sheet edges are protected.

How many sheets can a presentation folder hold?

A flat folder holds a modest stack comfortably. For thick packs, add a capacity spine of a few millimetres so the folder closes neatly.

Can I have two business card slits?

Yes, slits can go on one or both pockets. Two slits are useful when a pack includes cards for two contacts.

Which lamination is best for folders handled often?

Matt or gloss lamination resists scuffs and spills well. Soft-touch feels premium but can show marks a little more over time.

Can staff write on the folder?

Laminated surfaces are hard to write on with ordinary pens. Leave an uncoated area or choose uncoated board if you need to write names or references.

Is it worth printing the inside of an A4 folder?

Yes, when the inside carries something a reader needs, such as a welcome note, a list of services or contact details for the account manager. Full-colour inside print is priced on the custom quote alongside the cover, and the proof shows both faces.

Can I add a slot for a USB stick?

Yes, a die-cut slot or a small pocket can hold a USB stick on the inside flap. Send us the stick size so the slot holds it firmly.

Do you print matching letterheads and inserts?

Yes, we can print letterheads, price lists and inserts to match the folder so the whole pack is consistent.

Should I print prices or dates on the folder?

Better not. Keep the folder design general and put changeable details on the documents inside so your folders stay usable for longer.

Are kraft folders suitable for professional firms?

Kraft folders with a dark one-colour print look modern and understated. They suit design studios and smaller firms, while law and finance firms often prefer white or dark laminated board.

What if some folders arrive bent?

Folders are packed flat in sturdy cartons. If any arrive damaged or misprinted, report it within 10 days and we will reprint or refund.
