Food That Needs Holding Together

Wraps and rolls are among the most popular food-to-go items, but they are tricky to package. A tortilla wrap cut in half on the diagonal wants to unroll; the filling wants to fall out of the cut end, which is why a plain sheet of burrito wrapping paper is only half the answer. Spring rolls are crisp and lose their crunch if steam has nowhere to go. Filled baguettes and sub rolls are long and can bend. Sushi rolls need to stay upright so their cut faces stay neat.

A box designed for these foods holds them in position. The internal width keeps wraps snug so they do not unroll; a sloping front or angled window frames the cut face; and the length matches standard rolls and baguettes. When the food stays put, it arrives looking as appealing as it did on the prep counter.

Speed matters on a busy prep line. A box that folds in a second and lets staff slide a wrap in without fiddling makes a real difference at lunchtime, when hundreds of items might be packed in a couple of hours. Pre-glued wedges and boxes with simple tuck closures are popular for exactly this reason.

Wrap and Roll Boxes in Different Styles

The wrap wedge is a triangular carton that holds two halves of a wrap standing up, cut side facing a window. It is the classic grab-and-go fridge pack. A long open tray or clamshell box suits spring rolls, sausage rolls and samosas served hot. A long tuck box with a window suits filled baguettes and sub rolls. Sushi rolls sit well in a shallow tray with a clear lid or a window box with a divider.

For catering, larger platters hold several wraps or rolls cut into pieces, often with dividers to separate fillings. Clamshell boxes with a vented lid work well for hot rolls delivered to offices.

Board and Food Contact

Wraps and rolls often contain sauces, dressings and oily fillings, and hot rolls release steam and fat. Our boxes are made from a board with a grease-resistant inner surface, so the carton stays firm and the print stays clean; the board and card types guide explains the coated grades. Kraft board gives a fresh, natural look that suits delis and street food; white board shows colourful branding brightly.

Where a wrap or roll touches the carton directly, ask us for food-contact grade board, which we can supply on request. Window films are clear and fixed to the inside of the carton. For hot food, vents or an open-ended design let steam escape so pastry and spring rolls stay crisp.

Sizing Around Your Portions

Wraps are usually made from 25 or 30 cm tortillas, which give a filled wrap of around 60 to 70 mm diameter. Cut in half on the diagonal, each half stands around 120 to 150 mm tall, which the guide to measuring your product shows how to allow for. A wedge box is sized around those halves, with just enough room to slide them in without squashing.

Filled baguettes and subs vary from around 150 mm for a petit pain to 300 mm for a full sub. Spring rolls range from small party rolls of 60 mm to large rolls of 150 mm. For sushi, the box width depends on the roll diameter and the number of pieces. Measure your actual products, with fillings, and we will size the box to fit.

If you sell several items, try to cover them with two or three box sizes. A wedge for wraps, a long box for baguettes and a tray for hot rolls covers most menus.

Before ordering a large quantity, ask for a sample box and pack a few real wraps and rolls in it during a normal shift. Staff will quickly tell you whether it is too tight, too loose or awkward to close. Small changes to the size or the closure are easy to make at the proof stage and save frustration later.

Printing for the Fridge and the Counter

A food-to-go fridge is crowded, and shoppers decide in seconds. A clear window shows the filling; a printed band or printed product label names the product and the main ingredients; and a bold brand colour helps people find your range again. Keep the design simple so the food is the star.

Back and side panels carry the ingredients, allergens and use-by area, or a space for a printed label. Many businesses print a generic box and apply a product label for each filling, which keeps box stock simple while allowing daily menu changes. Make sure your allergen information meets current rules, as we print the text you supply.

For street food and hot rolls, a printed logo and a social media handle are often enough. The box will be photographed and shared, so make the logo clear.

Who Uses These Boxes

Sandwich bars, cafés and delis use wrap wedges and baguette boxes for their grab-and-go ranges. Office caterers use platters and clamshells for meetings, often beside custom sushi boxes on the same buffet. Street food traders use trays and clamshells for spring rolls, sausage rolls and burritos. Sushi bars and supermarkets with sushi counters use trays and window boxes. Schools, universities and hospital cafés use them for daily meal deals.

Whatever the setting, the aim is the same: food that looks fresh, travels well and carries the brand of the business that made it.

Event caterers and festival traders find long roll boxes handy for hot dogs, kebab wraps and loaded rolls that need to be carried through a crowd. A box with a tuck closure and a window keeps the food warm and clean on the walk back to the seat, while the print carries the trader's name.

Cut a Filled Wrap in Half and Stand It Up Before Choosing a Box

A wrap box is sized from the cut halves standing on end, so make your fullest wrap, cut it on the diagonal and stand the two halves side by side with the cut faces forward; measure the height, the width of the pair and the depth of a single half. Do the same for a baguette lying flat and for a tray of spring rolls, because the three shapes rarely share a box. Decide whether one printed box with a label panel covers every filling, and whether hot rolls need vents in the lid so the pastry stays crisp in a delivery bag.

Send the products and portion sizes, the box styles, the quantities and your artwork, and a custom quote is emailed within one working day, wrap and roll boxes from £0.25 each depending on size and style, minimums low and quoted per job. A free proof shows the dieline, the window and the artwork. Production takes 4 to 7 working days after approval and the boxes reach any UK mainland kitchen free and tracked in 2 to 3 working days. Cafes that sell sandwiches too usually add sandwich wedge boxes in the same colours.

Wrap and Roll Boxes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering wrap and roll boxes.

What box keeps a wrap from unrolling?

A wedge box sized snugly around the wrap halves holds them upright with the cut face forward. The narrow width stops them unrolling. A window shows the filling.

Can hot spring rolls stay crisp in a box?

An open tray or a clamshell with vents lets steam escape. Sealed boxes trap steam and soften pastry. For deliveries, vents are especially important.

Is the board grease-resistant?

Yes, our boxes use board with a grease-resistant inner surface. It keeps the box firm with oily fillings, and a food-contact grade option can be specified on your quote.

Can one box style fit wraps and baguettes?

Wraps and baguettes are different shapes, so separate boxes usually work best. A wedge for wraps and a long box for baguettes covers most menus. A shared design keeps them consistent.

Can I use printed labels for different fillings?

Yes, many businesses print one box and add a label per filling. It keeps box stock simple and allows daily changes. Leave a blank panel for the label.

What size wedge fits a 30 cm tortilla wrap?

A wedge around 150 x 75 x 75 mm suits two halves of a typical 30 cm wrap. Generous fillings may need a little more. Send us a sample measurement.

Do you make sushi boxes?

Yes, shallow trays with clear lids or window boxes suit sushi rolls. Dividers can separate types. We size them to your roll diameter and piece count.

Can I order catering platters too?

Yes, larger platters hold mixed wraps and rolls for meetings. Dividers keep fillings apart. They can be printed to match your other boxes.

Where should allergens go on the box?

Allergens usually go on a side or back panel, or on the product label. Make sure the wording follows current rules. We print what you supply.

Can a wrap wedge be sealed for delivery apps?

Yes, a printed seal label across the opening shows the box has not been opened, which delivery platforms and fridge ranges both want. It can carry your logo and a use-by date panel.
