Custom Small Burger Boxes
Custom small burger boxes are compact clamshells for one modest burger, a kids' meal or a single slider, sized so the bun sits snug rather than sliding around a box built for a double stack. Printed with your logo and colours, they keep service quick and make the smaller items on your menu look as considered as the big ones.

Why a Smaller Clamshell Makes Sense
Plenty of takeaways use one burger box for everything. It is simple to stock, but a small cheeseburger in a box made for a loaded double rattles about, cools faster and arrives with the top bun on the lid. A box that fits the burger keeps heat in, holds the stack together and looks far more generous when opened, because the food fills the space.
Small boxes also save money and room. They use less board per unit, take up less space in a delivery bag and stack more tightly behind the counter. For a menu with a kids' meal, a junior burger or a value option, a dedicated small box usually pays for itself in reduced waste and fewer complaints about squashed food. For kids' menus that come with a toy or a drink, our printed kids meal boxes hold the whole order.
There is a practical side for the kitchen too. A box that matches the burger means the person on the pass does not have to judge whether a burger will slide. They drop it in, close the lid and move on. Fewer re-packs and fewer remakes make a real difference on a busy Friday night.
Built for Fast Service
During a lunch rush nobody has time to fiddle. Our small clamshells fold from a flat blank into a hinged box with a locking front tab in a couple of movements, and once made up they nest inside each other so a stack can sit on the pass ready to fill. The lid closes with a positive click that tells the person packing the bag it is secure. Kitchens that box burgers and sides together can step up to burger and chip boxes for combo meals.
- One-piece clamshell with a hinged lid and front locking tab
- Pre-glued corners on request so the box pops up ready to fill
- Vent holes in the lid to let steam out and keep buns from going soggy
- Nesting design so made-up boxes stack in a compact column

Sizing Small Burger Boxes for Your Menu
Measure your smallest standard burger fully assembled, including any salad, sauce and the top bun, and take the width at its widest and the height from the base to the top of the crown. Add around 10 mm of clearance across and 10 to 15 mm on height so the lid does not press the bun flat. For a typical 90 mm bun the inside of the box will be around 100 x 100 mm.
Sliders are a different case. If you sell them in threes or fours, a long tray or a multi-slider box is more practical than several tiny clamshells. If you sell a single slider as a side or kids' option, a mini clamshell around 80 mm square is neat and easy for small hands to open. Very small builds are an even closer fit for our slider burger boxes for mini buns.
Bear in mind how the burger is built. A small burger with a tall brioche bun needs more height than a flat smash-style patty, even if the width is identical. Measure a few from a normal service rather than the perfect one made for photos, because real burgers vary and the box should cope with the tallest of them.
Board, Grease and Heat
Burgers are hot, oily and often wrapped in paper that still lets juices through. The board for a burger box needs a grease-resistant inner surface so oil does not soak in, spread and stain the printed outside. We use white or kraft folding board with a barrier coating on the food side, and food-contact grade board is available on request.
White board gives the brightest colours and suits playful kids' menus. Kraft board has a darker, more rustic look that suits street food stalls and smokehouses. Both can be printed in full colour, though bright shades look softer on kraft.
If you serve very wet sauces, or the burger rests in its box under a heat lamp, a printed greaseproof liner or wrap adds another layer. It also gives you a second branded surface the customer handles before they eat, and you can match its print to the box. Our printed burger wrapping paper can carry the same artwork as the box.
Printing That Works in a Delivery Bag
A small box has less surface, so design for the lid first. That is what the customer sees when they open the bag, and it is what appears in photos. A bold logo, a simple pattern or a single line of brand personality usually beats a busy collage. The sides can carry your social handle or a menu reminder, and the inside of the lid is a fun spot for a joke, a puzzle or a colouring outline for children's meals.
If you run several sizes, use the same artwork system across them so a small and a large box clearly belong to the same kitchen. Many clients keep one design and just scale it, which also keeps setup simple when we print both sizes together. The larger size in the set is usually our standard custom printed burger boxes, printed from the same file.
Allergen information is best kept off the box itself if your menu changes often, because reprinting boxes every time a recipe changes gets expensive. A small sticker or the receipt is a more flexible place for that detail, while the box carries the lasting brand.
- Lid: logo and the one line you want remembered
- Inside lid: a message, game or colouring panel for kids
- Sides: website, social handles or allergen reminder
- Front tab: a sticker zone for order numbers
Ordering and Restocking
Tell us your burger size, the style you want and how many boxes you get through in a typical fortnight, and we will suggest a sensible first order. Your custom quote comes by email within one working day, followed by a free design proof. Production takes 4–7 working days from approval, and the flat-packed boxes go out on free tracked delivery to UK mainland addresses in 2–3 working days.
If anything turns up misprinted or crushed, report it within 10 days and we reprint or refund. Minimums are low and quoted per job, so a new burger van or a pop-up can order a realistic quantity without filling the stockroom.
Most takeaways find it useful to reorder before the last bundle is opened. Note how long a pack of boxes lasts during a normal week, and set a reminder to request your next run while there is still a fortnight of stock on the shelf.

Small Burger Boxes Questions
What buyers ask before ordering small burger boxes.
What size is a small burger box?
Most small burger boxes have an inside of around 95 to 105 mm square and 70 to 85 mm tall. That suits a single burger on a 90 mm bun with the usual salad. We size yours to your actual burger.
Are small burger boxes big enough for a kids' meal?
A junior box holds the burger itself, and a separate box or bag usually takes the fries and toy. If you want everything in one pack, ask about a burger and chip box instead. We can print both in matching artwork.
Will grease show through the print?
Our burger board has a grease-resistant coating on the food side that holds oil back for the time a burger normally spends in the box. Very oily items left for a long time may still mark. A wrap or liner adds extra protection if your recipe is especially juicy.
Can I get vent holes in the lid?
Yes. Small vents let steam escape so the bun stays soft rather than soggy on a delivery run. We place them so they do not cut through your logo.
How fast are they to fold?
Our clamshells fold from flat in a few seconds and lock with a front tab. Pre-glued corners make it even quicker if your team prepares boxes during service. Folded boxes nest in stacks.
Can I print inside the lid?
Yes. Many family-friendly takeaways print a puzzle, joke or colouring panel inside the lid for children. It is printed in the same run as the outside.
Should I choose white or kraft board?
White makes bright colours pop and suits playful branding. Kraft has a rustic look that suits smokehouses and street food. Both have a grease barrier on the food side.
Can small and regular burger boxes be ordered together?
Yes, and printing both sizes in one order often keeps setup cost down. We can scale one design to each size so they clearly match. Each size appears on the proof.
Can a single slider go in a small burger box?
A mini slider clamshell of around 80 mm square is made for that. For three or four sliders served together, a slider tray or multi-slider box is more practical. We can quote both.
What if a delivery arrives damaged?
Report it within 10 days with a photo, and we reprint the affected boxes or refund you. Flat-packed bundles are boxed for transit to avoid crushed corners.
Is there a minimum order for a new burger van?
Minimums are low and set per job, so a new van can start with a modest quantity. Tell us your expected weekly use and we suggest an order that will not tie up cash or storage.
