Custom Burger Boxes
Custom burger boxes are the folding card clamshells that carry a burger from the grill to the customer's hands, printed with your branding on every side. We size them to your burgers, line them to resist grease and send a free design proof before printing.

The Workhorse of the Takeaway Counter
The card clamshell is the most familiar burger box for a reason. It folds up in seconds from a flat sheet, locks shut with a tab, stacks neatly on the pass and costs less than most alternatives. For a busy burger joint or food van serving hundreds of burgers on a Saturday night, that speed and simplicity matter more than anything else.
A printed card box also does a lot of marketing. It sits on the table in front of the customer for the whole meal, it appears in photos posted online and it travels home in delivery bags. Your logo, colours and social handles on that box keep working long after the food is gone.
Compared with plain stock boxes, printed boxes also help a smaller business look established. A customer comparing two vans at a market will often pick the one with clean, branded packaging.
Board and Grease Resistance
Burger boxes are made from folding board, usually with a grease-resistant coating on the inside. That coating stops fat and sauce soaking into the card, keeps the box rigid while the customer eats and stops grease spots showing through the printed outside.
White board gives the brightest print and suits colourful branding. Kraft board has a natural brown finish that suits gourmet and street food styles and hides small marks. Corrugated board, with a thin fluted layer, is stiffer and keeps heat in better, which suits delivery-heavy kitchens and larger burgers.
Food-contact grade board is available on request.
If you are unsure which board suits your menu, order a few samples of each and run them through a Friday night service.

Sizing Custom Burger Boxes
Measure your burger fully built, with toppings, sauce and the top bun, rather than measuring the patty. Allow 10 to 15 mm of space around the sides and above the top so the lid closes without squashing the bun. A box that is too tight smears sauce across the lid; one that is too large lets the burger slide and fall apart.
Many kitchens use two or three sizes: a small box for sliders and kids' burgers, a standard box for singles and a larger box for doubles and loaded burgers. Meal boxes with a second compartment for fries are another option that cuts down on packaging for meal deals.
If your burgers vary a lot, start with a sample pack of sizes and test them on a busy service before committing to a large order. Stacked or double-patty builds usually need the taller double burger boxes with extra headroom instead.
- Slider or kids box for mini burgers
- Standard box for single burgers
- Large box for doubles and stacks
- Meal box with space for fries
- Tall box for burgers with height
Vents, Locks and Handling
Steam is the enemy of a good bun. A burger sealed in a box with no airflow sweats, and the bun goes soft within minutes. Small vent holes in the lid let steam escape while keeping the burger warm, and they make a noticeable difference for delivery orders.
The locking tab on the front of the box holds the lid closed in the bag. A firm lock matters for delivery, when boxes are tipped and jostled. For dine-in, a simpler tuck lid opens more easily. We can supply either.
Boxes arrive flat in cartons and fold up quickly. Keep a stack of folded boxes at the pass before service starts, and the rest flat in storage.
Delivery bags deserve a check too. Many insulated bags are cut for a particular box footprint, and a box that is a few millimetres too wide will not sit flat, which tips burgers on their side. Measure your bags before choosing a final size.
Designing a Burger Box People Remember
Bold, simple designs work best on burger boxes. A large logo on the lid, a pattern or colour on the sides and your social handle or website on the back is a proven layout. Designs that are too detailed lose impact at the size of a burger box.
The inside of the lid is another canvas. A message like 'Enjoy it while it is hot', a fun fact or a QR code linking to your menu is seen the moment the box is opened. Some burger joints print a different design for limited burgers or collaborations.
One or two colours on kraft board keep costs down and look confident. Full colour on white board suits brands with illustration or photography.
Matching packaging across the order makes a bigger impression than any single item. A printed burger box, a fry box in the same colours and a sticker sealing the delivery bag look like one brand, and customers notice the care that went into it even if they never say so.
Who Orders Printed Burger Boxes
Burger joints, food vans and street food traders are the core buyers, followed by pubs, cafés and takeaways with burgers on a wider menu. Dark kitchens running several delivery brands from one site order different printed boxes for each brand.
Event caterers, stadium food outlets and festival traders use them because they are quick to pack and easy to eat from while standing.
Butchers and farm shops selling burger kits, with raw patties, buns and sauces for cooking at home, also use printed boxes, although these are usually larger cartons rather than clamshells.
Schools, sports clubs and charity events that run a burger stand once or twice a year sometimes order a small run with their club badge, which makes the event feel more organised and gives supporters something to remember it by.

Burger Boxes Questions
What buyers ask before ordering burger boxes.
Will custom burger boxes go soggy with grease?
Not with a grease-resistant inner coating. It keeps the box rigid and stops grease marks showing through the print.
How much space should a burger have in the box?
Allow 10 to 15 mm around the sides and above the top bun so the lid closes without squashing the burger.
Do vent holes really help?
Yes. Small vents let steam escape so the bun stays firmer, which is especially helpful for delivery.
Should I choose white or kraft board?
White board gives the brightest colours. Kraft suits gourmet and street food brands and hides small marks.
Can I print inside the lid?
Yes. The inside lid is seen as soon as the box opens and is great for a message or QR code.
Can you make a box for a burger and fries?
Meal boxes with a second compartment hold a burger and fries together, which suits meal deals.
Is corrugated board worth it for delivery?
Corrugated board is stiffer and keeps heat in better, so it suits delivery-led kitchens and large burgers.
Can a dark kitchen order boxes for several brands?
Yes. Different designs for each brand can run on one order to keep costs down.
Do the boxes arrive flat?
Yes, flat in cartons. They fold up in seconds with a locking tab.
How many sizes should a burger menu have?
Most kitchens manage with two or three sizes. Test samples with your own burgers to decide.
What if boxes arrive crushed?
Take a photo of the carton and the crushed boxes before you unpack further and send it within 10 days. Transit damage is reprinted or refunded; we do not ask you to post the boxes back.
