Custom Sock Sleeves
Custom sock sleeves are printed card bands that slide over folded or rolled socks, holding a pair or a multipack together while carrying your brand, size and fibre details. They are one of the most economical ways to make socks look shop-ready, and they suit everything from market stalls to department store hooks.

What a Sock Sleeve Does
Socks are awkward to sell loose. They come apart, get mixed up by size and say nothing about the brand. A sleeve fixes all three at once: it binds the pair or pack together, shows the size clearly and gives the brand a printed surface that can be seen from across a shop floor.
Compared with a full box, a sleeve uses far less material and leaves most of the sock visible, so customers can see the colour, pattern and knit. That matters with patterned and novelty socks, where the design is the reason someone buys them. For plain socks, the sleeve does more of the selling, so the print and wording carry more weight.
Sleeves are also quick to apply. Staff or a packing team can slide a folded pair into a sleeve in a few seconds, with no glue, tape or assembly.
For brands moving from loose socks to packaged ones, a sleeve is usually the gentlest first step on cost. If you need a second format, our printed hosiery boxes can carry the same design.
Sleeve Formats and Shapes
The simplest sleeve is a flat printed band wrapped around the middle of a folded pair and closed at the back with a glued seam or an interlocking tab. A wider sleeve covers more of the sock and gives space for size charts and fibre content. A J-hook or header sleeve adds a top panel with a hang hole so the pack can hang on retail pegs.
Die-cut shapes give character. A sleeve cut into the outline of a foot, a sock, an animal face or a brand icon makes a display more playful and is popular for children's and novelty ranges. Window cut-outs let more of the pattern show through while keeping a printed surround. Multipacks that need a closed box rather than a band use our sleeve boxes for multipacks.
- Wrap band with glued or tab closure
- Wide sleeve for multipacks and size details
- Header sleeve with a hang hole or euro slot

Board and Print Choices for Custom Sock Sleeves
Sock sleeves are usually printed on folding card or a heavier board between 300 and 400 gsm, which is stiff enough to hold a pair flat and to support a hang hole without tearing. White board shows full colour artwork vividly, while kraft card gives a natural, handmade feel that suits wool, merino and outdoor sock brands.
Print can be full colour on the front with simple one-colour text on the back, or full colour throughout. A matte finish feels softer and suits premium brands; gloss works for bright, playful designs. Foil on the logo is an affordable way to lift a gift range.
Keep the back panel organised: size range, fibre composition, care symbols and a barcode are the essentials. A clean layout makes the pack look trustworthy and saves the shop answering questions. The gsm figures are explained in our board weights for sleeves guide.
Sizing Sleeves Around Folded Socks
Fold or roll the socks exactly as they will be sold, then measure the width and the thickness of the bundle in the middle where the sleeve will sit. Ankle socks, crew socks, knee-highs and chunky boot socks all fold to very different sizes, and a multipack of three or five pairs needs a sleeve sized for the whole stack.
The sleeve should hug the socks without squeezing them out of shape. Allow a couple of millimetres of ease around the bundle so packers can slide it on easily. For thick wool socks, measure a few pairs and use the largest, since natural fibres vary slightly.
If you sell the same sock in several sizes, a single sleeve design with a printed size box or a size sticker can cover all of them as long as the folded width is similar.
Send us a sample folded pair if you can. Measuring the real bundle is far more reliable than working from a flat sock, and it lets us check the fit before the proof is drawn. Our method for measuring folded socks shows where to take the thickness.
Who Uses Sock Sleeves
Independent sock brands are the biggest group, from bamboo and merino specialists to novelty and gift sock designers. Sports and running brands use sleeves to show technical features such as cushioning zones and arch support. Clothing retailers and boutiques sleeve own-label socks to match their store branding.
Gift shops and subscription box companies like sleeves because they make a single pair feel finished. Charity shops and fundraising events sometimes use them for branded sock appeals, and corporate teams order sleeved socks as promotional merchandise or staff gifts.
Wholesalers supplying several shops often sleeve their socks once at source so every retailer receives stock ready for the shelf. That saves the shops time and keeps the brand presentation consistent wherever the socks end up, which matters when the same design is stocked by very different stores. Brands that also label the heel use our sock labels for the heel in matching print.
Tips for a Sleeve That Sells
Put the most important message in the middle of the front panel, because the edges of the sleeve can curve around the socks and become harder to read. A short benefit line, such as a fibre type or a comfort feature, helps more than a long paragraph.
Use the inside of the sleeve for a message or a size guide if you have one. Customers often keep the sleeve when they give socks as a gift, and an inside print is a nice surprise. Finally, consider a colour coding system for sizes so customers can find their size quickly on a crowded peg.
If your socks are sold in sets for gifting, think about how the sleeves look side by side. A shared layout with a different accent colour per design makes a row of packs look like a collection rather than a jumble, and it encourages customers to buy more than one pair. Rails rather than shelves suit our hang tags for rail display instead of a sleeve.
Fold a Pair the Way the Shop Will See It
Sock sleeves are sized from the fold, so the first job is to fold or roll a pair exactly as it will sit on the shelf and measure the width, the height and the thickness of that bundle. A rolled pair needs a wider sleeve than a flat-folded pair of the same sock, and a multipack of three is a different sleeve again. Tell us those figures, the quantity per design and if you need a hang hole for peg displays, because the hole changes the dieline. Decide how much of the sock should show, since a narrow band shows the pattern and a wide band carries more information. Artwork is the front panel plus the size range, fibre content and care symbols for the back, sent as vector files and shown on a free proof. A custom quote comes by email within one working day, sleeves start from £0.25 and minimums stay low and quoted per job. Production takes 4–7 working days after approval with free tracked UK mainland delivery. The same band around other products is covered on our packaging sleeves for other products page.

Sock Sleeves Questions
What buyers ask before ordering sock sleeves.
Do sock sleeves need glue to close?
Not always. We can make sleeves with an interlocking tab that closes without glue, or supply them pre-glued into a loop so packers simply slide them on.
Can a sleeve hold a multipack together?
Yes, a wider sleeve in heavier card holds three or five pairs together securely. We size it to the stacked bundle.
Can you add a hang hole for retail pegs?
Yes, a round hole or euro slot can be cut into a header panel above the socks. We reinforce the board weight so the hole does not tear.
Will the sleeve hide the sock pattern?
A narrow band leaves most of the sock visible. If you want more on show, a window cut-out keeps the printed surround while revealing the pattern.
Can I use one sleeve for several sock sizes?
Usually yes, if the folded widths are similar. A printed size box or a size sticker covers the different sizes without separate print runs.
Which board suits wool socks?
Kraft card complements natural fibres and outdoor ranges well. Use a heavier weight if the socks are thick, so the sleeve holds its shape.
Can the sleeve be shaped like a foot?
Yes, die-cut shapes such as feet, animals or logos are popular for novelty and children's socks. We show the shape on the proof.
What goes on the back of a sock sleeve?
Size range, fibre composition, care symbols and a barcode are the essentials, with the brand website if there is room. Keep the layout in one column so the barcode scans cleanly. We set the back panel from the text you send.
Is there a minimum order for sleeves?
Minimums are low and quoted per job, so small brands and pop-up sellers can order a modest quantity of each design. Short runs are priced per job rather than per thousand. Reorders can be smaller again because the files are kept.
How soon can I have sleeves for a market stall?
Production is 4–7 working days after proof approval and free tracked UK mainland delivery takes 2–3 working days. Mention your market date when asking for a quote.
What if the sleeves are cut wrongly?
If a misprint or a cutting fault is on our side, report it within 10 days of delivery with a photo and we reprint the sleeves or refund you. Check the fold line positions on the proof carefully first. A sample sleeve from a first run is a good way to test the fit.
