Custom Sunglasses Boxes

from £0.25 a boxPriced per job · low minimums

Custom sunglasses boxes are printed outer boxes that hold a pair of frames in their hard or soft case, often with space for a cleaning cloth and a care card. Eyewear brands and boutiques use them to protect stock and to give each pair a polished retail presentation.

More Than a Case

Most sunglasses already come with a case, so why add a box? Because the case protects the frames, while the box sells them. A printed box gives your brand space to show its logo, model name and lens details on the shelf, and it keeps the case clean and unscuffed in the stockroom and in the post. For online eyewear brands, the box is the first thing a customer touches, and it sets their expectations for the frames inside.

Boxes also protect against pressure. A hard case can take a knock, but a soft pouch cannot, and frames inside a pouch can bend if they are squeezed in a parcel. A snug box with an insert holds everything in place.

Finally, boxes make gifting easy. Sunglasses are a popular present, and a smart box removes the need to wrap.

For online sellers, a proper box also reduces returns. Frames that arrive bent or scratched are almost always sent back, and the cost of a well-made box is small compared with the cost of a return and a lost customer. Opticians selling prescription frames use the same constructions as our glasses boxes for opticians.

Printed Sunglasses Boxes: Choosing a Style

The style depends on how you sell. Retail boutiques often prefer drawer or lid boxes that display well and open smoothly in front of a customer. Online brands may choose mailer-style boxes that double as the shipping carton. Brands selling through shops on pegs may need a hanging box with a window.

If you sell in both channels, one drawer box design can work for boutiques, then go inside a plain mailer for online orders. That keeps stock simple while giving both sets of customers the same unboxing. Our guide shows drawer, lid and hanging styles compared if you are undecided.

  • Drawer box: slides out of a printed sleeve, ideal for unboxing
  • Two-piece lid and base: classic retail presentation
  • Magnetic closure box: premium frames and gift sets
  • Mailer box: ships and presents in one
  • Window hanging box: peg display with frames on view

Fitting Frames, Case and Cloth

Start with what goes in the box. A typical hard case measures around 160 x 65 x 50 mm, while a soft pouch with folded frames is closer to 160 x 60 x 40 mm. Oversized and wraparound frames need more length and height. If you include a cleaning cloth and a care or warranty card, allow 5–10 mm of extra depth.

We can design a card insert with a recess for the case and a slot for the cloth and card, so everything sits neatly. Send us your case or frames, or exact dimensions, and we will create a box that holds them snugly without forcing.

Lens protection matters too. If frames travel without a hard case, a soft pouch and a snug insert stop the lenses touching the box walls, which is where most scratches come from.

Board, Print and Finish

Folding boxes in 350–400 gsm board suit everyday retail and online orders. Rigid boxes made from greyboard and wrapped in printed paper feel more luxurious and suit designer frames and limited editions. Kraft board gives a relaxed, outdoorsy look that works well for surf, cycling and festival eyewear brands.

Matt and soft-touch laminations suit minimalist eyewear brands. Gloss suits colourful, fashion-led brands. Foil stamping adds a premium highlight to a logo, and spot gloss can pick out a lens shape or a model name. Inside print, such as a colour or a pattern on the inner flap, makes opening the box more memorable.

Think about the angle customers see the box from. In a boutique, a box on a shelf is often seen from above, so the lid matters most. Online, customers see the box in photos from a three-quarter angle, so the front and top work together.

Kraft boxes printed with a single dark ink look great for brands with an outdoor or travel feel, and they pair naturally with a cotton pouch and a simple paper care card inside, giving a relaxed but carefully considered unboxing. You can see soft-touch and foil finishes compared in our finish guide.

Information Panels

Eyewear packaging often carries model names, colour codes, lens types and protection details. Keep these on a side or end panel, so the front stays clean for branding. A small sticker on the end of the box with the model and colour code makes stock management easier and saves printing a different box for every variant.

If you include care instructions, print them on a separate card or inside the lid, where customers will read them once they have the frames in hand.

A short line about lens protection or polarisation on the front can be helpful, as long as it accurately describes the frames inside. Keep wording factual and let the product details speak for themselves. Colour codes are easiest handled with small colour code labels on the end panel.

Eyewear Labels, Opticians and Sports Brands

Independent eyewear brands are the main buyers, both those selling online and those supplying boutiques. Opticians use branded boxes for premium frames and prescription sunglasses. Fashion and accessory boutiques use them for own-label lines. Sports brands use them for cycling, running and ski glasses, and promotional merchandise suppliers use them for branded sunglasses at events and festivals.

Ski and snowboard shops use larger versions for goggles, and fishing tackle shops stock polarised glasses in sturdy boxes that survive a tackle bag.

Corporate clients order branded sunglasses in printed boxes as staff gifts and event giveaways, where a neat printed box makes an inexpensive pair feel like a proper present worth keeping on the desk afterwards.

Measure the Case, Not the Frames, and Plan for Colourways

Sunglasses boxes are sized from the hard or soft case the frames ship in, so measure the case closed at its longest, widest and deepest points and add 5 mm each way, plus a little depth if a cloth and care card go on top. Then count the colourways. Printing one box per model and adding a small end label for each colour code keeps print runs long and stock simple, while a window shows the frame colour without opening the box. Decide early whether the box is a drawer for unboxing, a lid and base for a counter or a hang tab window box for peg display, because each changes the dieline.

Send the case dimensions, style, board, finish, artwork and quantity, and a custom quote comes by email within one working day. The free proof shows the dieline, insert and print positions. Production takes 4 to 7 working days after approval; folding boxes arrive flat and rigid boxes made up, by tracked courier to UK mainland addresses. Dented or misprinted boxes reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded.

Sunglasses Boxes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering sunglasses boxes.

What size box do I need for a hard case?

A typical hard case of 160 x 65 x 50 mm needs an inside of about 165 x 70 x 55 mm. Send your case dimensions and we will confirm.

Can the box hold a cleaning cloth and care card too?

Yes. We add 5–10 mm of depth and can design an insert with a slot for the cloth and card.

Is a drawer box good for online orders?

A drawer box gives a lovely unboxing, but it should travel inside a mailer. A mailer-style box can ship on its own.

Can I show the frames through a window?

Yes, a window with clear film suits hanging boxes on retail pegs.

Which finish suits a minimalist eyewear brand?

Matt or soft-touch lamination with a single foil logo looks clean and refined.

How do I handle many colourways?

Print one box for the model and add a small label on the end with the colour code. It saves printing separate boxes.

Do you make rigid boxes for designer frames?

Yes, rigid greyboard boxes wrapped in printed or textured paper suit premium and limited-edition frames.

Can a sunglasses drawer box be printed inside the sleeve or tray?

Yes. Inside print on the tray or the inner flap makes sliding the drawer open part of the brand experience, and it costs little on a folding board construction.

Can one box work for boutiques and online orders?

Yes. A drawer or lid box presents well in shops and can travel inside a plain mailer for online orders, giving both sets of customers the same unboxing.

Can a new eyewear label order a short run for its first collection?

Yes. Minimums are low and quoted per job, so a first collection can launch with a modest run of each box and reorder as models sell.
