Custom Scarf Boxes
Custom scarf boxes are shallow, usually square boxes and folders sized so a scarf can lie folded flat, its print uncreased and ready to be given. We make them with lift-off lids, magnetic flaps or windows that show the pattern, printed and finished to suit your label.

Presenting a Scarf Properly
A scarf is mostly pattern and drape, and neither shows well when it is stuffed into a bag. Folded neatly in a flat box, a silk square shows its border and central motif, a cashmere wrap shows its texture and a printed modal scarf shows its colours exactly as the designer intended. The box is a frame as much as a container.
For accessory brands, that presentation affects price. A silk scarf sold in a rigid box with tissue and a ribbon reads as a considered gift; the same scarf in a polybag reads as a quick purchase. Gift shops and museum shops know this too, which is why scarves near the till are so often displayed in boxes or windowed folders.
Flat boxes also protect the fabric. Pulls, creases and marks are the enemies of fine scarves, and a box keeps the folded scarf safe in a stockroom, a suitcase or a post bag.
Online sellers benefit just as much. A scarf that arrives folded in a printed box, under a sheet of tissue, photographs well for social posts and feels worth the price paid, which counts for a lot when a customer cannot touch the fabric before buying.
Styles of Custom Scarf Boxes
Scarves vary from small silk squares to large blanket wraps, so we make several formats:
- Lift-off lid box: a two-piece rigid or folding box, the classic presentation for silk squares and gifts.
- Magnetic flap box: a rigid box with a hinged lid that closes with a soft click, giving a luxurious opening.
- Window folder: a printed card folder with a die-cut window that shows the scarf's pattern, ideal for retail racks.
- Slide-out drawer box: the scarf sits in a tray that slides from a printed sleeve, a neat choice for gift sets with a matching accessory.
- Flat mailer box: a sturdy, shallow mailer for online orders, printed inside so the scarf is revealed on opening.

Folding and Sizing
The box size follows the fold, so decide how your scarf will be folded before measuring. A silk square is usually folded into a smaller square that shows the corner design; a long rectangular scarf might be folded into thirds lengthways and then in half. Fold a real scarf the way you want it presented, lay it on a flat surface and measure the folded size, then add a few millimetres all round.
Depth depends on fabric. A fine silk square needs only a shallow box, while a chunky wool or cashmere wrap needs much more height so the lid does not compress it. Allow for tissue paper and any card insert in the depth.
If you sell scarves of different sizes, two or three box sizes usually cover the whole range. Similar folded sizes can share a box, saving on designs and stock.
A practical tip: fold every scarf around the same piece of card when packing. It gives each one an identical shape, makes boxing quicker and means the window, if you have one, always frames the same part of the design. Tights and socks from the same shop use the same flat format as our hosiery boxes with a window.
Materials and Finishes
Rigid board boxes, wrapped in coloured or printed paper, give the most luxurious feel and suit silk and cashmere. Folding board boxes are lighter, ship flat and are better value for everyday ranges or for gift shops selling at lower price points. Window folders are made from a single piece of folding board and are the most economical of all.
Finishes that suit scarves include soft-touch lamination, which echoes the softness of the fabric, foil blocking for a logo, and embossing for a subtle pattern on a plain lid. Textured papers, such as linen-effect wraps, also work well with textile products.
Inside, a sheet of tissue in your brand colour, perhaps with a printed logo sticker, finishes the presentation. A ribbon around the lid or a printed belly band adds a final touch for gifts.
Using the Window Well
A window lets shoppers see the scarf's print without opening the box, which is especially helpful in shops where customers cannot easily handle fine fabrics. Place the window where it frames the most attractive part of the folded scarf, often a corner motif or the centre of the pattern.
Window shapes can echo your brand: a simple square or circle is timeless, while an arch, a leaf or a custom shape gives a distinctive look. A clear film keeps the scarf clean while it is on display.
Think about what is behind the window too. If the scarf is folded around a card insert, the insert keeps the visible area flat and smooth, so the pattern does not ripple behind the film. A plain white or brand-coloured insert also stops the scarf slipping sideways when the folder is handled, which keeps the best part of the design centred in the window. Upload the scarf design through the free proof request and we will show the window over the motif.
Who Orders Scarf Packaging
Scarf boxes are ordered by accessory and fashion labels, textile designers and artists selling printed scarves, museum and gallery shops, heritage and tourist attraction shops, department store concessions, corporate gift companies and bridal shops selling wraps and shawls.
Artists who turn paintings or illustrations into silk scarves often use a box with a printed card inside the lid telling the story of the artwork. It turns a scarf into a collectable piece and justifies a higher price.
Hosiery, tie and pocket square brands use the same shallow box formats, and a coordinated range of boxes across scarves and other accessories gives a shop display a strong, unified look. Knitwear sold alongside goes in the deeper apparel boxes with lids in the same wrap.
Fold Every Scarf Around the Same Card
Scarf boxes are sized from the fold, so settle the fold first and make it repeatable: cut a piece of card to the folded size you want, fold every scarf around it, and the bundle is the same shape every time. Measure that bundle for length, width and depth, remembering a silk square needs 30 mm of depth and a cashmere wrap closer to 70 mm. If the box has a window, note which corner or motif should sit behind it, because the card keeps that part flat and centred.
Send the folded sizes, the style, lift-off lid, magnetic flap or window folder, and the quantity, and a custom quote comes back by email within one working day with low minimums quoted per job. The free proof shows the lid, base, window position and wrap. Production takes 4–7 working days after approval and tracked delivery to UK mainland addresses is free, taking 2–3 working days. Scuffed or misprinted boxes reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded. Tie and pocket square ranges from the same label usually share the wrap with our bow tie boxes in matching paper.

Scarf Boxes Questions
What buyers ask before ordering scarf boxes.
How do I work out the right box size for my scarf?
Fold the scarf exactly as you want it presented, measure the folded size and add a few millimetres all round. Thicker fabrics also need extra depth.
Can the window show the scarf's pattern?
Yes, we place the window to frame the best part of the folded scarf, often a corner motif or the centre of the design. Fold every scarf around the same card so that part always sits behind the film.
Which box suits a silk scarf best?
A rigid lift-off lid or magnetic flap box with tissue gives silk the luxurious presentation it deserves. The 180 x 180 x 30 mm silk square box in our size table is the usual starting point.
Do you make boxes for chunky wool wraps?
Yes, deeper boxes give thick wraps room without crushing them. Tell us the folded thickness and we will size the depth.
Can I post scarves in these boxes?
Rigid presentation boxes are best posted inside a mailer. Flat mailer boxes, printed inside, can be posted on their own.
Is a window folder strong enough for retail?
Yes, for display and carrying home. It is made from a single piece of folding board and is the most economical option for shop racks.
Can I add a card telling the story of the design?
Yes, a printed card inside the lid or tucked under the tissue is a lovely way to share the artist’s story or care instructions. We print it in the same order so the paper and colours match.
Can one box size fit several scarves?
Scarves with similar folded sizes can share a box. Most brands manage with two or three sizes for their whole range.
How long will my scarf boxes take?
Production takes 4–7 working days after proof approval, then 2–3 working days for free tracked UK mainland delivery. Rigid boxes arrive built and window folders arrive flat.
What details help you quote for scarf boxes?
Send the folded size, the style and the quantity. Our custom quote for scarf packaging comes back by email within one working day.
Will the window film ripple over a thick wool wrap?
It can if the wrap presses against the lid, so for wool and cashmere we suggest a lift-off lid without a window, or a window folder reserved for the silk range. A card insert under a silk square keeps the film flat. Boxes that arrive scuffed or misprinted are reprinted or refunded when reported within 10 days.
