Custom Cake Pop Boxes

from £0.25 a boxPriced per job · low minimums

Custom cake pop boxes have a card insert with holes that hold each cake pop upright on its stick, so the decorated tops never touch the box or each other. Home bakers, bakeries and party planners use them to sell, gift and transport cake pops without smudges or broken coatings.

The Problem With Loose Cake Pops

Cake pops take time to make. Each one is shaped, dipped, decorated and left to set, often with sprinkles, drizzles or tiny piped faces. Laying them flat in a box squashes the coating and smudges the decoration. Standing them in a cup or tumbler works for display, but not for transport. A box with a holed insert solves both problems, holding every pop upright and separate so it arrives looking exactly as it left the kitchen.

Boxes also turn cake pops into a product that can be sold and given. A set of six or twelve in a printed window box is a ready-made gift, a party favour or a counter treat, and it can be priced and stacked like any other bakery item.

For bakers selling at markets or online, a reliable box is the difference between a fragile novelty and a product that can be shipped, delivered and stocked.

A box also helps with pricing. Selling cake pops in sets of four, six or twelve makes it easier for customers to choose, and it lifts the average sale compared with selling single pops.

Cake Pop Boxes With Logo: How the Insert Works

The insert is a raised card platform with holes cut to the stick diameter. The stick pushes through the hole and rests on the base of the box, while the cake pop sits above the platform. The height of the platform is set so the pop sits just below the lid with a little clearance.

Holes are usually spaced 50–60 mm apart, centre to centre, depending on the size of the cake pops. Standard pops are about 35–40 mm across, so this spacing leaves room for decorations. Larger or more elaborate pops need wider spacing.

Inserts can also be printed or coloured on top, which shows through a window and frames the cake pops neatly. A scalloped edge or a simple pattern on the platform is a small detail that makes a box look more finished. Single pops for weddings share the foil and sizing of our favour boxes for sweets and treats.

Windows, Lids and Display

Cake pops are colourful and fun, so most bakers want them on show. A window in the lid or front panel lets customers see the decoration before buying. For box styles where the pops stand upright, a window across the top of a deep lid works best. Some bakers choose a fully clear lid for maximum visibility.

Handled boxes, such as gable boxes with inserts, make cake pops easy to carry and suit party favours. Two-piece boxes with lift-off lids feel more like a gift. Tuck-top boxes are the most economical choice for regular counter sales.

If you sell cake pops in different themes, such as birthdays, baby showers and weddings, a plain box with a window and a themed sticker or ribbon lets one box cover every occasion. Slices sold beside the pops at a market tend to go in cake slice boxes with a window in the same print.

Sizing Around Your Cake Pops

Measure the diameter of the finished cake pop, including any decorations that stick out, and the length of the stick. Standard lollipop sticks are about 150 mm long, though many bakers use shorter sticks for boxes. The box height must take the stick length below the platform plus the cake pop above it, with 5–10 mm of clearance under the lid.

For a box of six standard pops on 115 mm sticks, an outer of around 180 x 120 x 140 mm works well. Send us your pop size and stick length, and we will design the insert and box around them.

Remember that heavier decorations, such as fondant figures or large sugar flowers, add weight and height. Test one finished pop in a plain sample box before printing a full run, so you know the lid closes without touching the decoration. Our guide to measuring products for a box covers clearance under the lid.

Board, Print and Food Contact

Most cake pop boxes use 300–350 gsm white folding board, which gives a clean, bright base for colourful print. Kraft board suits rustic and natural bakery brands. Food-contact grade board is available on request, though cake pops are usually wrapped in clear bags before going into the box.

Bright patterns, polka dots and pastel colours suit cake pops well, but simpler designs with a strong logo let the decorated pops take centre stage through the window. Matt lamination looks modern; gloss makes colours sparkle. Foil adds a touch of celebration for weddings and special occasions. The board weights and lamination choices page shows how matt and gloss look on white board.

Keep the insert colour in mind. A white insert makes pastel pops look fresh, while a black or dark insert makes bright colours pop. Printing the insert in a brand colour is a small extra that makes a big difference through a window.

Inside print on the lid is another nice touch for gift boxes, such as a short thank-you or the baker's social handle.

Home Bakers to Dessert Tables

Home bakers and small cake businesses are the main buyers, selling at markets, online and to friends and family. High street bakeries and cafés use them for counter sales. Wedding and party planners use them for favours and dessert tables. Corporate clients order branded cake pops for events and product launches, and children's party venues use them for party bag treats.

Dessert caterers and coffee shops use single-pop boxes as an upsell at the till, where a pretty box makes a small treat feel worth buying on impulse. Celebration orders often add a matching box for the main cake so the whole table ties together.

Stick Length Sets the Box Height

Before anything else, decide the stick you will use, because the box height is the stick below the platform plus the cake pop above it. A 115 mm stick with a 40 mm pop needs a box around 140 mm tall; a full 150 mm stick needs a taller box and more board. Many bakers trim sticks for boxed sets for exactly that reason. Then pick the count per box, measure one finished pop with its sprinkles, and tell us whether each pop will be bagged first.

Send those four details with the quantity and a logo, and a custom quote arrives by email within one working day, with minimums quoted per job so a home baker can order a sensible run. The free proof shows the box, the hole spacing on the insert and the window shape. Production takes 4–7 working days after approval and boxes ship flat with free tracked delivery to UK mainland addresses in 2–3 working days. Misprinted or damaged boxes reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded. Bakers who also sell cupcakes usually order cupcake boxes with the same artwork at the same time so the stall looks consistent.

Cake Pop Boxes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering cake pop boxes.

How does the insert hold cake pops upright?

The stick pushes through a hole in a raised card platform and rests on the box base, so the pop sits above the platform without touching anything. The platform height is set from your stick length.

How far apart should the holes be?

Usually 50–60 mm centre to centre for standard pops. Larger or heavily decorated pops need wider spacing.

Do I need to wrap cake pops before boxing?

Many bakers wrap each pop in a small clear bag for hygiene. The insert holds wrapped or unwrapped pops.

Can I use shorter sticks?

Yes, and many bakers do. Tell us your stick length and we will size the box height to match.

Will a window over six upright pops show all of them?

Yes, if the window runs across the top of the lid rather than the front. Pops stand in two rows of three, so a top window around 150 x 90 mm shows every decorated head. A clear lid shows the sticks and insert as well.

Will the box suit delivery?

Yes. The insert stops pops moving, so boxes travel well by car. For posting, put the box inside a sturdy outer carton.

Can I get boxes for a wedding?

Yes, single and four-pop boxes with foil names make lovely favours. We set minimums job by job, so a small batch for one wedding is no problem.

Do I need food-contact board if every pop is in a cello bag?

Not usually, because the bag is the only thing touching the cake. Food-contact grade board is available on request for bakers who box unwrapped pops. Say which you do when you ask for the quote.

Can one box cover different party themes?

Yes. A plain window box with a themed sticker or ribbon lets one design cover birthdays, baby showers and weddings without separate print runs.

How much do the boxes cost?

Prices start from £0.25 per box depending on size, insert, window and quantity. Send your details and a custom quote comes back by email within one working day.
