Custom Cookie Dough Boxes

from £0.25 a boxPriced per job · low minimums

Custom cookie dough boxes are made for edible dough that lives in a fridge: cartons, tub sleeves and scoop boxes that handle condensation and still look appetising under chiller lights. We print them for dessert brands, dough bars and cafes selling ready-to-eat dough by the pot or by the scoop.

What Chilled Dough Asks of Its Packaging

Edible cookie dough is soft, rich and usually kept cold. That combination is tough on packaging. Fats in the dough mark untreated board, fridge humidity softens weak card, and moving a cold box into a warm shop creates condensation that can make printed surfaces sticky or blotchy. A box designed for dry baked cookies often struggles in a chiller cabinet after a day or two.

Cookie dough boxes start from a board with a moisture-resistant coating, an inner barrier that stops fat from soaking in and a print finish that copes with damp fingers. The result is a pack that looks as fresh on day five as it did when it went into the fridge.

Handling is the other test. Staff stock fridges quickly, often with cold or damp hands, and customers pick up two or three tubs before choosing one. Corners that crush, sleeves that slide off and print that rubs away all make a shelf look tired by the end of the week. A sturdy board, a snug sleeve and a protective varnish keep the display looking freshly stocked. p2 Brands that also sell baked cookies by post use our printed cookie bags for single portions for the dry product.

Formats for Custom Cookie Dough Boxes

Many brands sell dough in a plastic or paper tub with a printed sleeve or carton around it. The sleeve carries all the branding and information, while the tub holds the product. This keeps the tub simple and lets you change flavours by changing the sleeve. Others use a fully printed carton with a lid, which suits dough sold in portioned balls or bars.

Dough bars and cafes serving by the scoop use small open-top scoop boxes or cups with a spoon slot, similar to an ice cream tub. Gift boxes holding several mini tubs of different flavours are popular for online orders and as treats.

Think about how people will eat the dough. A tub with a lid suits customers who take it home and come back to it over several days. A scoop box suits someone eating straight away at the counter or walking down the street. Gift boxes suit treats sent to friends, birthdays and office celebrations, and they benefit from an inside print or a short message on the lid.

Board, Coatings and Food Contact

We use folding board with a coating suited to chilled and moist conditions, and an inner barrier where the board will touch the dough directly. Food-contact grade board is available on request for the inner surface, which matters for scoop boxes and open trays where the dough sits against the card. For sleeves around a separate tub, the board does not touch the dough, so the main concern is moisture resistance on the outside.

If your dough is frozen rather than chilled, tell us. Frozen storage brings its own challenges, such as ice crystals and very cold handling, and the board and adhesive need to suit those conditions. p1 Frozen dessert lines use the same board as our cartons for frozen food, which are made for freezer handling.

Sizing Around Tubs and Portions

For sleeves, measure the tub's height and its diameter or dimensions at the top and bottom, because many tubs taper. The sleeve is cut to grip the tub without slipping off. For cartons, measure the portioned dough at its widest and tallest, and add space for any liner or tray.

Common sizes run from small single servings of around 100 g to sharing tubs of 500 g or more. Scoop boxes are sized to the scoop: a single scoop box is small and shallow, a double or triple scoop box is larger. If you sell several sizes, we can create a range with a consistent look across all of them.

Before ordering a full run, try a sleeve on a filled, chilled tub rather than an empty one at room temperature. Cold plastic contracts slightly, and a sleeve that fits snugly on a warm empty tub can feel loose once the tub has been in the fridge overnight. p2 The guide to measuring a product covers tapered tubs and lids.

Making Dough Look Irresistible in a Fridge

Chiller cabinets are bright, busy and cold-coloured. Warm, rich colours, such as caramel browns, chocolate tones and bright flavour accents, read clearly against white shelves and steel. Big, close-up photography of dough with visible chocolate chunks makes people hungry. A small window can show the real product, but make sure the window film suits chilled conditions.

Flavour names should be large and easy to read from a metre away, because shoppers scan fridges quickly. Put essential information such as ingredients, allergens, storage instructions and the use by date on the side or back, and leave a clear patch for date codes and price labels.

Shelf-ready trays can help too. If you supply retailers, a printed tray that holds six or twelve tubs can go straight into the chiller, saving staff from unpacking each pot. The tray front becomes a small billboard for your brand, and it keeps your flavours grouped together rather than scattered among other desserts. p2 Gift boxes of mini tubs usually go in a printed dessert box with a divider inside an insulated shipper.

Dessert Brands and Dough Bars

Dessert brands selling edible cookie dough through supermarkets, delis and farm shops use printed sleeves and cartons to meet retailer requirements and hold their own on the shelf. Dough bars and dessert cafes use scoop boxes and branded cups for counter service. Online dessert brands send gift boxes of mini tubs in insulated shippers. Bakeries that add edible dough to their menu often start with a simple printed sleeve over a standard tub.

Many dough brands launch with one or two flavours and grow from there, so a flexible design with a changeable flavour area is a sensible starting point.

Events and pop-ups are another outlet. A dough brand trading at a food market or a festival needs scoop boxes that can be stacked beside a portable freezer and handed over quickly, with the brand name big enough to be seen across a busy crowd.

Test the Sleeve on a Cold Tub, Not a Warm One

Dough packaging is judged in the fridge, so size it there. Fill a tub, chill it overnight and measure the diameter at the rim and the base once it is cold, because plastic contracts a little and a sleeve cut to a warm empty tub can feel loose on day two. Send those figures with the storage temperature and the number of flavours, and say if any dough is sold frozen, since frozen storage changes the board and the glue.

Leave an unvarnished patch for the date code on the artwork from the start; it is the detail most often added after a proof. The custom quote arrives by email within one working day, the minimum is set per job, and a plain printed sleeve starts from £0.25.

The free proof shows the pack flat with the information panels marked; approve it and production takes 4 to 7 working days, followed by free tracked delivery to UK mainland addresses. Brands that sell dough by the scoop beside baked cookies often order standard cookie boxes in the same print so both lines match on the counter.

Cookie Dough Boxes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering cookie dough boxes.

Will the box go soggy in a fridge?

Not if it is made from moisture-resistant coated board. We specify a board and finish that cope with chilled storage and condensation.

Can the board touch the dough directly?

Board for direct contact can be supplied on request. For sleeves around a separate tub, the board does not touch the dough.

Can the boxes be frozen?

Yes, if the board and adhesive are chosen for frozen storage. Tell us if your dough is sold frozen.

How do I size a sleeve for a tapered tub?

Measure the height and the diameter at both the top and bottom. The sleeve is shaped to grip the tub without slipping.

Can I show the dough through a window?

Yes, with a window film suited to chilled conditions. It lets shoppers see the chunks before they buy.

Which colours get noticed on a cookie dough tub in a chiller?

Warm browns, caramel and a bold flavour accent read well against white shelves and steel. Close-up photography of dough with visible chocolate chunks does more than any pattern, and a large flavour name is what shoppers scan first.

Can scoop boxes include a spoon slot?

Yes. A small slot in the lid or side holds a wooden or plastic spoon for eating on the go.

Can I change the flavour without reprinting everything?

Use one layout with a changeable flavour panel, or a printed sleeve per flavour, so each change is simple. Many brands print the sleeve per flavour and keep one plain tub.

Where should use by dates go?

We leave a clear, unvarnished patch on a side or base panel so date codes can be printed or stamped clearly. Tell us which printer or stamp you use and we size the patch to it.

What if sleeves arrive creased?

Send us details within 10 days of delivery. Damaged or misprinted sleeves and boxes are reprinted or refunded.
