Custom Banana Bread Boxes
Custom banana bread boxes are long, low cartons and sleeves cut to the shape of a loaf tin, so a whole loaf or a few thick slices travel home without being squashed. We print them for home bakers, cafés and farm shops, with windows, liners and grease-resistant board on request.

Made for the Shape of a Loaf
Most cake boxes are square, and a loaf cake looks lost inside one. It slides from end to end, the crust gets knocked and the box takes up far more space on a counter than it needs. A loaf-shaped box fits the bake the way the tin did: long, fairly narrow and just tall enough to clear the domed top and any crack running along it.
The fit matters more than it might seem. Banana bread is moist and fairly heavy for its size, and a loaf that moves around in a box bruises along the edges. A snug box also looks deliberate on a café counter, where a row of identical boxed loaves reads instantly as a product you can pick up and take home rather than something cut to order.
The same shape works for lemon drizzle, ginger loaf, marble cake and fruit loaves, so a single box design often serves a baker's whole loaf range with only the label changing. Bakers who also sell brownies by the tray find the same low, long shape works for brownie boxes cut to a tray.
Box or Sleeve?
There are two main ways to pack a loaf. A full box encloses it completely, with a tuck lid, a hinged lid or a window on top. A sleeve slides over a loaf that is already wrapped or sitting on a board, leaving the ends open and the cake partly visible.
Sleeves are popular with bakers who wrap loaves in greaseproof paper or cellophane first. They use less board, look rustic and are quick to slide on. Full boxes give more protection for delivery and gifting and are the better choice if loaves are stacked or posted.
A third option, popular for gifting, is a loaf box with a fold-down front panel. The loaf slides in from the side rather than being lowered in from above, which makes packing quicker and avoids squeezing a soft, freshly cooled loaf between your fingers. Loaves baked in printed loaf pan liners can be sold in the liner inside a sleeve, which saves wrapping altogether.

Sizing Custom Banana Bread Boxes to Your Tins
The tin decides the box. A standard 2lb loaf tin bakes a loaf around 210 to 230 mm long and 100 to 110 mm wide, while a 1lb tin gives something closer to 170 by 90 mm. Measure a finished loaf rather than the tin, because loaves shrink slightly as they cool and the domed top often rises higher than you expect.
Add a few millimetres to length and width so the loaf drops in without catching the crust, and enough height to clear the highest point with a little room above. If you top loaves with sliced banana, crumble or a glaze, add a bit more so the lid never touches the decoration.
For slices, decide how thick you cut them and whether they lie flat or stand on edge. A slice box for a single thick wedge of banana bread is very different from one holding two thinner slices side by side. If you are unsure about the allowances, how to measure a product for its box shows the method with a worked example.
Board, Liners and Grease
Banana bread contains oil or butter and plenty of moisture, which can mark untreated board within hours. A grease-resistant board, or a coated inner face, keeps the outside print clean. Food-contact grade board is available on request, and many bakers also line the base with a sheet of greaseproof paper or a loaf liner for an extra barrier.
White board gives the brightest print and clean, café-style branding. Kraft board suits bakers whose look is homely and natural, and it hides small marks that appear when boxes are handled by busy staff. A mid-weight board copes with a single loaf; for gift boxes with extras, a heavier board keeps the base from flexing. The grease-resistant and food-contact options here are the same ones used across our printed bakery boxes for cakes and pastries.
Designs That Make People Pick One Up
A loaf on a counter is seen mostly from above and from the long side, so those are the panels to design first. A window along the top shows off a crackled crust or a scattering of walnuts, and the long side is the natural place for your name and the flavour. End panels suit a small label with the bake date and ingredients.
Keep the flavour easy to change. Many bakers print one box design and add a small sticker for each loaf flavour, which means a single print run covers banana, lemon, chocolate chip and anything new on the menu. Alternatively, a coloured band on the sleeve can be printed in a few versions, one per flavour.
Simple illustration, one or two bold colours and plenty of empty space tend to look better on a loaf box than a crowded design, because the cake itself provides the warmth and texture. Our free proof drawn on the loaf box dieline shows the top and long side flat, so you can judge the panels before anything prints.
Tips for Selling Loaves in a Café
Coffee shops often sell banana bread by the slice from a stand and then by the loaf from a boxed display near the till. Boxed loaves need to be easy to grab: stack them no more than a few high, with the window facing out, and make sure the price label sits on the end that faces the customer.
If you also sell through delivery apps, a fully closed box with a tamper sticker gives customers confidence that nothing has been opened on the way. For loaves posted to customers, place the boxed loaf in a snug outer mailer with a little padding at each end so it cannot shift.
Freshness labelling helps too. A small sticker with the bake date on the end panel tells customers how fresh the loaf is without opening it. Cafés that sell several bakes side by side can keep the look consistent across the bakery and cake box range.
Start From the Loaf Tin When You Order
Everything about a loaf box follows from the tin, so measure that first: internal length and width at the top rim, plus the height of a baked loaf at its dome, usually 20 to 30 mm above the tin. Let one cool fully and measure again, because banana bread settles. Add 5 mm to length and width and 10 mm to height and you have the box. Pick the style second: a sleeve if you already wrap loaves, a tuck-lid box if they sit on a shelf unwrapped, and a window box when the crust is the selling point. The window bakery boxes for display counters use the same film.
Keep the flavour on a sticker, so one run covers every loaf. Email the tin size, style, board and quantity and a custom quote comes back within one working day, with a free design proof after it. Boxes are made in 4 to 7 working days once the proof is approved and delivered free and tracked to any UK mainland address in 2 to 3 days. Minimums are quoted per job, and a box that arrives misprinted or crushed is reprinted or refunded when reported within 10 days.

Banana Bread Boxes Questions
What buyers ask before ordering banana bread boxes.
Will a 2lb loaf fit your standard box?
Our 2lb loaf box is sized around a typical loaf of about 230 by 110 mm. Send us your own measurements and we will confirm or adjust before proofing.
Will a warm banana bread loaf mark the box?
It can if it is boxed before it has cooled, because the steam and butter soak into untreated board. Let loaves cool fully, choose a grease-resistant board or a coated inner face, and add a greaseproof liner under moist recipes.
Should I choose a sleeve or a full box?
Sleeves suit loaves already wrapped in paper or cellophane and look rustic on a counter. Full boxes protect better for delivery, stacking and gifting.
Can I use one box for several loaf flavours?
Yes. Print one design and add a small flavour sticker, or print the sleeve band in a few colours. Both keep costs down.
Will the lid touch the top of the loaf?
Not if you measure the highest point of the bake, including toppings. We add clearance above it on the dieline.
Can I post banana bread in these boxes?
A closed loaf box with a tamper sticker travels well when placed inside a snug outer mailer with padding at each end.
Do you make boxes for single slices?
Yes. Slice boxes hold one thick slice on edge or two thinner slices flat, which suits coffee shops selling grab-and-go portions.
Does banana bread need a liner as well as the box?
A liner is optional for a cooled loaf in grease-resistant board. Very moist recipes, or loaves sold by the slice, benefit from a greaseproof sheet under the cake so the base of the box stays clean. Food-contact grade board can be specified when you ask for your quote.
What does a loaf box cost?
Simple loaf boxes and sleeves start from £0.25 each depending on size, board and quantity. We send a custom quote by email within one working day.
Can I add a window along the top?
Yes, a long clear window shows off the crust and toppings. It is placed so the box keeps its strength along the sides.
Can I order only a small batch?
Yes. Minimums are low and quoted per job, so a home baker can start with a short run and reorder as sales grow.
