Custom Sweet Boxes with Dividers
Custom sweet boxes with dividers keep each kind of sweet in its own compartment, so the fudge does not stick to the boiled sweets and the truffles arrive looking the way they left the counter. We make them for sweet shops, confectioners and chocolatiers selling pick-your-own selections and ready-made assortments.

Why Assortments Need Compartments
An assorted box is only as good as its worst-travelled sweet. Soft fudge picks up sugar dust from sherbets, sticky toffees cling to everything, chocolate truffles smudge against hard sweets, and anything with a strong flavour, like mint or aniseed, can taint its neighbours. Loose in one open box, a mixed selection turns into a jumble within a short car journey.
Dividers solve this by giving each variety its own space. Customers see the full range at a glance when they lift the lid, which makes the box feel generous and well put together. For the shop, compartments also make portioning easy: staff fill each section to the same level, so every box looks consistent and pricing is simpler to manage.
Divided boxes also encourage customers to try more. A box with six or nine sections invites them to pick a little of everything, which often means they discover a new favourite and come back for a bigger bag of it. Shops that already have boxes can order sweet box inserts for existing boxes on their own.
Divider Layouts That Work
The layout depends on the sweets and how you sell them. A grid of equal squares suits truffles and fudge cubes. Long channels suit rows of chocolates or strings of liquorice. A mix of large and small compartments suits shops that pair a big portion of a signature sweet with smaller tasters.
Dividers are usually card inserts that slot together in a grid or fold up from a single sheet. They can be printed to match the box, or left plain white or kraft for a clean look.
Divider height is a detail worth thinking about. Full-height dividers keep strong flavours apart and stop pieces jumping between sections, while lower dividers look more open and show off the selection when the lid comes off. For boiled sweets and sherbets, full height is safer; for truffles in cups, low dividers are usually enough. Chocolatiers use the same grids in chocolate boxes with dividers for bonbons.

Sizing Custom Sweet Boxes with Dividers
Start with the sweets. Decide how much of each kind goes in a compartment, measure a typical piece and work out how many sit in each section without being squashed. Fudge cubes of around 25 mm fit neatly in compartments of 30 to 35 mm; truffles in paper cups need a little more. Allow headroom so the lid never presses down on soft or decorated pieces.
Boxes holding around 200 to 300 grams of mixed sweets typically measure about 150 to 200 mm square and 35 to 50 mm deep. Larger family selection boxes reach 250 mm or more. Send us your intended contents and approximate weights, and we will propose a layout and box size on the proof.
If you want one box to serve many selections, choose equal-sized compartments, which accept almost any sweet and make the box flexible across your range. Our guide on how to measure a fudge cube explains the clearance a compartment needs.
Board Choices for Confectionery
White folding boxboard prints bright, cheerful designs and suits classic sweet shop branding. Kraft board gives a homemade, artisan feel that pairs well with fudge, brittle and handmade chocolates. Food-contact grade board is available on request for the inside of the box and the dividers, and many confectioners also use paper cups or glassine liners for sticky or oily sweets.
A heavier board for the base keeps a full box from bowing when picked up. For boxes sold in warm shops or posted, a coated inner surface helps resist marks from butter and chocolate.
For posted orders, choose a lid that sits firmly on the dividers. When the top of each divider touches the underside of the lid, sweets cannot climb over into the next section even if the parcel is turned upside down on its way through a sorting office.
Design for the Moment the Lid Lifts
The outside of a sweet box should be bold and inviting, with your shop name, a pattern or illustration and the type of selection. The inside is where the delight happens. A printed lid underside or coloured dividers frame the sweets, and a small card listing what is in each compartment helps customers who want to know which is the salted caramel and which is the raspberry.
Window lids are popular for sweet shops, as they let customers see the colours of the selection without opening the box. A ribbon or printed belly band adds a gift-ready finish without the extra cost of a rigid box.
Keep allergen information clear and easy to find, either printed on the box or on a sticker, as assortments often contain a mix of ingredients. A contents key is often printed as inside lid print in full colour above the dividers.
Selling Pick-Your-Own Selections
Many sweet shops let customers choose what goes into each compartment. Divided boxes make this quick: staff hand over an empty box with the lid off, the customer points, and each section is filled in turn. A box with a set number of compartments also makes pricing straightforward, as each compartment holds roughly the same weight.
For party bags and favours, smaller divided boxes with two or four sections work well, giving children a little of their favourite sweets without the mess of a paper bag.
Shops that sell by weight sometimes place the empty box on the scales first and zero it, then fill each compartment in turn in front of the customer. It is quick, fair and turns the filling into part of the experience, which is a large part of why people visit a traditional sweet shop in the first place. Loose selections by weight sell from pick and mix boxes for the counter beside the divided range.
Order a Short Run of Two Layouts and Let the Counter Decide
Divider layouts are a matter of how you sell, so if you are torn between four, six and nine sections, order a short run of two layouts and watch which one customers pick at the counter. Measure your largest piece, such as a fudge cube or a truffle in its cup, and allow 5 to 10 mm per compartment so pieces lift out easily. Say whether the dividers should lift out as a tray for filling, whether sticky sweets need paper cups or a glassine liner, and whether a window lid or a printed contents card helps customers choose. Food-contact grade board is available on request for the box and dividers, and a loose selection next to the divided box can go in pick and mix boxes for scoop sales.
Send the layout, sweet sizes, quantity and artwork, and a custom quote comes by email within one working day. The free proof shows the box, divider layout and print. Production takes 4 to 7 working days after approval, boxes arrive by tracked courier to UK mainland addresses, and misprinted or damaged boxes reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded.

Sweet Boxes with Dividers Questions
What buyers ask before ordering sweet boxes with dividers.
Is a six or nine section box better for a fudge shop?
Six suits a shop selling three or four flavours in pairs; nine suits a wider range or a gift box. Choose from how many varieties you stock and how much of each a customer takes, and trial both on a short run.
Can the dividers be removed?
Yes. Removable insert trays lift out whole, which makes filling and cleaning easier.
Will sticky sweets stick to the dividers?
Coated board or paper cups and glassine liners help. Many confectioners use cups for fudge and truffles.
Can you print the dividers?
Yes. Printed dividers can match your box or add a contrasting colour that frames the sweets.
What size compartment fits a fudge cube?
Fudge cubes of around 25 mm fit well in compartments of 30 to 35 mm. Send us your piece size and we will confirm.
Can a divided sweet box have a lid window that shows every compartment?
Yes. A lid window sized to the divider grid lets customers see the colour of each compartment without opening the box, and we keep a border of board so the lid stays rigid.
Can I list the contents of each compartment?
A printed contents card or an inside lid print helps customers identify each sweet.
Can fudge and truffles sit directly in the compartments?
Yes, if you ask for food-contact grade board for the box and dividers when you request your quote. Many confectioners still use paper cups for sticky pieces so the dividers stay clean.
What do divided sweet boxes cost?
Simple divided boxes start from £0.25 each depending on size, layout and print. We email a custom quote within one working day.
Can I trial a new layout?
Yes. Minimums are low and quoted per job, so a short trial run is practical.
Do you make small boxes for party favours?
Yes. Two and four-section boxes are ideal for favours and party bags.
