The Promo People Actually Use

Plenty of promotional items get handed out at a stand and forgotten in a bag. Sticky notes are different. They are used daily, they move around the office as they are passed from desk to desk, and every sheet that is torn off and stuck to a report or a screen carries the brand along with it. For a business that wants to stay in front of customers without being pushy, few items match them.

They also suit retail. Stationery shops, museum and gallery shops, and online stationery brands sell printed sticky notepads in illustrated designs, often with a cover that turns a simple pad into a small gift. The same production methods serve both markets, with the design and finishing setting them apart.

Cost per impression is the other attraction. A pad that sits on a desk for weeks, with dozens of sheets travelling around an office, gives far more exposure than a flyer for a similar outlay. That makes sticky notes a sensible choice for businesses that want a low-cost promo with a long life. The coverless version of the same pad is on our printed sticky notes without a cover page.

Pads, Covers and Flag Sets

A plain pad is a block of sticky sheets with your print on each one. A covered pad adds a card cover, which protects the sheets in a bag and gives a much larger area for branding. Booklet sets combine a pad with page flags in a folding card cover, which is very popular with students and office workers. Flag sets on their own, in a strip of bright colours, are compact and handy for marking pages.

Shaped pads are cut to an outline such as a house, a speech bubble, a cloud, a tooth or a product shape. They are memorable and fun, which makes them a favourite for estate agents, dentists, schools and brands with a recognisable shape.

Combining formats is popular too. A booklet set with a square pad and a row of page flags gives the recipient two useful things in one, and the folding cover keeps them tidy in a bag or a drawer. Longer notes that do not need adhesive use our notepads with a glued spine.

Designing the Sheets

Most of each sheet should stay clear so people can actually write on it. A logo in a corner, a slim band along the top or bottom, or a light pattern at the edge leaves plenty of writing space. A faint ruled or dotted grid helps for to-do lists and notes. Very dark or full-bleed colour looks striking but makes handwriting hard to read, so we recommend pale tints if you want colour across the whole sheet.

Some brands print a useful prompt on each sheet, such as 'Call back', 'To do' or 'Order', or a checklist relevant to their customers. A plumber might print 'Your engineer called' with a space for the time; a school might print a homework reminder. A small touch like this keeps the pad in use for longer. Our print options compared guide shows one colour against full colour on pale sheets.

Choosing Sizes for Custom Sticky Notepads

The classic square pad is around 75 x 75 mm and suits most desks. Smaller 50 x 50 mm pads fit in a pocket or a cover and suit giveaways. Rectangular pads around 100 x 75 mm give more writing room for lists. Larger A6 or A7 pads with a sticky strip are useful for meeting notes. Flag strips are usually around 12 to 25 mm wide.

Sheet count changes how long the pad lasts and how thick it looks. Thin pads cost less and suit large giveaways; thicker pads feel more generous and suit retail or premium gifting.

If you are unsure, think about where the pad will live. A pad for a reception desk or a kitchen fridge can be large and generous. A pad for a delegate bag or a direct mail pack should be small and flat, so it does not add bulk or postage. Meeting rooms and reception desks suit our A5 notepads for longer notes instead.

Covers and Finishes

A cover gives you the most design space. It can be printed full colour on both sides, with your brand on the front and contact details or a message inside. Matt lamination gives a smooth, modern feel and resists scuffs. Kraft covers have a natural look that suits creative and craft brands. Foil on the cover logo adds a premium touch for gifts and retail.

For booklet sets, the inside of the cover is a good place to print a short calendar of term dates, a contact list or a mini map for an event.

Kraft covers paired with pastel sheets have become a favourite with stationery shops, because the combination looks warm and handmade. Bold, single-colour covers with a white foil logo suit corporate gifting, where the aim is clean and recognisable branding. The cover card weights are explained in our cover card weights explained guide.

Who Orders Printed Sticky Notes

Estate agents, accountants, recruitment agencies, dental and medical practices, universities and schools, trade show exhibitors, charities, banks and software companies all order sticky notepads as everyday promos. Stationery brands, gift shops and illustrators order them as retail products. Large offices sometimes order plain branded pads simply as their standard supply, so every note around the building matches the brand.

Event organisers like booklet sets in delegate packs, because they are light, flat and genuinely used during the conference sessions.

Teachers and tutors also order smaller runs printed with encouraging messages or subject prompts for their classes, which makes a simple pad feel personal and motivating. Exhibitors usually hand the pad over with our business cards for the same stand.

Decide Cover or No Cover Before the Sheet Count

The cover decides most of a sticky notepad order, so settle it first. A pad with a printed cover is a gift that sits on a desk and carries contact details inside the flap; a pad without a cover is a cheaper handout that goes in a conference bag. Pick the version by who receives it, then choose the sheet count, 25 to 50 for a handout and 100 for a gift, and the size, with 75 x 75 mm the safe default. Tell us how many designs you need, because several can run in one order, and send the logo as a vector file with the cover artwork if there is one. The free proof shows the sheet print and the cover layout flat so you can see where the fold lands. A custom quote comes by email within one working day, minimums are quoted per job, and pads are made in 4–7 working days after approval with free tracked UK mainland delivery. Blocks that mix paper colours are on our multicolour sticky notes in a block page.

Sticky Notepads Questions

What buyers ask before ordering sticky notepads.

What size are custom sticky notepads?

The classic size is around 75 x 75 mm. We also make 50 mm squares, 100 x 75 mm rectangles, A7 pads and flag strips. Shaped pads are cut to your outline.

Can sticky notes be printed in full colour?

Yes, but we recommend leaving most of the sheet clear or using a pale tint so writing stays readable. A logo in a corner or a band along the edge works well. The proof shows how much writing room is left.

Can I get a sticky notepad shaped like my logo?

Yes, die-cut pads can follow a simple outline such as a house, bubble or product shape. Very fine shapes may need simplifying. We show the cut line on the proof.

What is a booklet set?

It is a folding card cover holding one or more sticky pads and page flags. It is popular for promos and delegate packs. The cover is printed with your design.

Can each sheet have a printed prompt?

Yes, prompts like 'To do' or 'Your engineer called' with blank lines are popular. They keep the pad useful. We lay them out on the proof.

Do covered pads cost more?

A cover adds board and finishing, so it costs more per unit. It also gives far more branding space and protects the pad in bags. We quote both options if you are unsure.

Can I order several designs?

Yes, one order can be split across several designs on the same size. We proof each pad design individually. This suits retail ranges.

Are sticky notes good for trade shows?

They are light, flat and used daily, so they make practical giveaways. Booklet sets look especially good in delegate packs. Small runs are fine.

Can the cover show contact details inside?

Yes, the inside cover suits contact details, opening hours or a short calendar. Inside and outside cover print happen together, so there is no second pass.

What colours can the sheets be?

White is standard, and pastel sheets are available on request. Your print shows up best on white or pale yellow. We advise based on your design.

What if the pads do not stick properly?

Report any faulty or misprinted pads within 10 days and we reprint or refund. Pads stick best on clean, dry surfaces. Peeling sheets from the side rather than the bottom helps them stay flat.
