The Giveaway People Actually Use

At a trade show, most freebies end up in a bag and then in a bin. Sticky notes are different. They are useful every single day, they sit next to a keyboard or phone, and each time someone peels one off to jot down a number, your name is in front of them. A cube of several hundred notes can last months on a busy desk, which is a long time for a promotional item that costs so little.

They also travel. A note with your logo gets stuck to a monitor, a fridge, a document passed to a colleague or a file in a meeting room. Every one of those places is a small, quiet advert. For businesses that rely on repeat contact, such as recruiters, estate agents, tradespeople, accountants and print brokers, putting a phone number on every note is a practical way to be remembered when the need arises. Larger pads for the same desk are printed as our notepads for the same desk.

Pads, Cubes and Shapes

Sticky notes come in a few main formats, each suited to a different kind of giveaway or office use: Pads with a printed cover that closes over the sheets are our sticky notepads with a cover.

  • Square pads, the classic format for desks and meeting rooms
  • Oblong pads, handy for to-do lists and longer messages
  • Stacked cubes, a thick block that looks generous on a stand and can be printed on all four sides
  • Die-cut shapes such as a house, speech bubble, shirt or your product outline
  • Pads with a printed card cover that protects the notes in a bag

Printed Sticky Notes: Where the Print Goes

There are two places to put your branding. The first is on every sheet. A logo in one corner, a band along the top or a faint watermark across the note leaves plenty of space for writing while making sure each note carries your name. The second is on the edges of a cube. Printing around the sides of a stacked block gives you four panels of branding that stay visible on the desk until the last note is used, and the pattern changes as the cube is used down, which people enjoy.

Many brands combine both: a full colour design on the cube sides, with a simple one colour logo on each note. Keep the writing area light and uncluttered. A dark or busy background makes notes hard to read and less likely to be used.

Think about what you want people to do with the note. A recruiter might print a line such as a direct phone number at the foot of each sheet. A restaurant might print a small order line or a booking web address. A school could print a ruled area with a space for a name and form group. Small practical touches like these make a note more likely to be used, and every use repeats your branding. Leave at least two thirds of the sheet clear, because a note crowded with logos and slogans is quietly put aside in favour of a plain one. Our print options compared guide shows one colour against full colour on pale paper.

Paper Colour and Adhesive

Sticky notes are usually printed on a smooth white or pale yellow paper, which takes ink well and is easy to write on with any pen. Coloured papers in pastel blue, pink or green can link the notes to your brand colours. On a cube, alternating colours of paper give a striped edge that looks striking on a desk.

The adhesive strip runs along the top of the back of each sheet. A standard strip holds on paper, monitors and desks and peels off cleanly. If notes will be stuck on rough or textured surfaces, such as noticeboards or cardboard, ask about a stronger adhesive, which keeps them in place for longer.

Ink choice matters too. Notes are written on with ballpoints, gel pens and markers, so we print with inks that sit well under handwriting and do not smear when a finger brushes across them. Blocks that mix several paper colours are on our multicolour sticky notes in a cube page.

Choosing a Size and Sheet Count

The most popular size is a square note around 75 x 75 mm, which suits most desks and messages. Smaller notes around 50 x 75 mm are great as a light giveaway and fit easily in a pocket or wallet. Larger oblong notes, such as 100 x 75 mm or 150 x 100 mm, work for to-do lists, desk planners and meeting notes.

Sheet count changes how long the item lasts and how it feels in the hand. A thin pad of 25 or 50 sheets makes a good mailer insert or conference bag filler. A thick pad of 100 sheets or a cube of several hundred feels like a proper gift. Think about who will receive them and how much you want them to keep your name in view.

Trade Show and Office Ideas

Exhibitors often use sticky note cubes as a stand display, stacking them in a pyramid so visitors help themselves. Conference organisers include a branded pad in every delegate bag, often alongside a pen and a notepad in matching colours. Schools and universities give them to new students and staff. Companies use them internally to carry brand colours through the office, and many hand them out as a simple thank you to clients with an order.

Pairing sticky notes with other printed stationery creates a neat desk set. A matching A5 notepad, pen and sticky note pad in a printed sleeve makes a practical welcome pack for new starters or a useful client gift that does not feel like a gimmick.

Pick the Sheet Count by Where the Pad Ends Up

Sticky note orders go wrong on sheet count, not design. A pad dropped into a conference bag needs only 25 to 50 sheets, because most are thrown away unused; a pad given to a client or left on a reception desk should have 100 sheets or be a full cube, so the logo stays on the desk for months. Decide where the pads will end up, then the size, with 75 x 75 mm the safe default, and the colour of the paper. Keep the print to a logo in a corner or along the bottom edge so there is room to write, and if you want a cube, send a design for each side. Artwork is a vector logo and a colour reference, and the free proof shows exactly how each note and the cube sides will look. A custom quote comes by email within one working day, minimums are quoted per job, and pads are made in 4 to 7 working days after approval with free tracked UK mainland delivery, so allow a little over two weeks before an event. Cards handed over with the pad are printed as our business cards to go with them.

Printed Sticky Notes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering printed sticky notes.

Can every sticky note carry my logo?

Yes. We print your logo or design on each sheet, usually in a corner or band so there is plenty of space left for writing.

Can you print on the sides of a sticky note cube?

Yes. Full colour print around the edges of a stacked cube gives four panels of branding that stay visible as the notes are used.

Which sticky note size is most popular?

Square notes around 75 x 75 mm are the most popular, because they suit most desks and short messages. A 50 x 75 mm note is the next size down for flags and reminders. Larger 100 x 75 mm notes suit meeting rooms.

Will the notes stick to monitors and noticeboards?

The standard adhesive holds well on paper, screens and desks. For rough surfaces such as noticeboards, ask about a stronger adhesive.

Can I choose coloured paper?

Yes. Pastel papers can match your brand, and cubes can be made with layers of different colours for a striped edge.

How many sheets should a trade show sticky note pad have?

Thin pads of 25 to 50 sheets work as bag fillers at a stand, where most pads are not kept. Pads of 100 sheets or a full cube feel like a proper gift and last longer on a desk. Match the count to how much the recipient matters.

Can sticky notes be cut into a shape?

Yes. Houses, speech bubbles, shirts and product outlines are popular. Shapes need a simple outline so the notes peel cleanly.

How far ahead should I order for an exhibition?

Allow 4 to 7 working days for production after you approve the proof, plus 2 to 3 working days for delivery. Ordering about three weeks ahead gives breathing room.

Can I order matching notepads and pens?

Yes, we print matching notepads and pad covers so the sticky notes form part of a branded desk set. The items are proofed together so the logo sits the same way on each. They arrive in one delivery.

What is the minimum order for printed sticky notes?

Minimums are quoted per job. Send your size, sheet count and quantity and we email a custom quote within one working day.
