Custom Perfume Dropper Boxes

from £0.25 a boxPriced per job · low minimums

Custom perfume dropper boxes are made for the tall, slim profile of a glass bottle with a rubber bulb and pipette, which does not fit neatly into a standard fragrance carton. We size each box to your bottle and add a neck insert, so attars, perfume oils and fragrance serums travel upright with the dropper protected.

The Shape Problem with Dropper Bottles

A dropper bottle is really two objects stacked together: a glass body and a cap with a bulb and a long glass pipette. The bulb sits higher and is softer than a normal perfume cap, and it is easy to squeeze by accident if the box presses on it. A squeezed bulb can draw oil up the pipette and leak once the pressure is released.

That is why a perfume dropper box should not simply be a regular fragrance carton made taller. The box needs headroom above the bulb, a way to stop the bottle sliding up and down, and support around the neck where the glass is thinnest.

Oil perfumers also tend to sell in small volumes, from a few millilitres to around 30 ml, so the bottles are light and easily knocked over in a box that is even slightly too large. Spray bottles with a wider cap suit our perfume boxes for spray bottles instead.

Inserts That Hold the Neck

A card insert with a hole sized to the bottle neck is the simplest and most effective fix. The bottle drops through the insert, the shoulder rests on the card, and the base sits on the floor of the box. That holds the bottle in two places and keeps the bulb clear of the lid.

For thicker or square bottles, a die-cut cradle that wraps around the body works better. Foam or flocked inserts in a rigid box give a jewellery-like presentation for gift sets. For multi-bottle sets, a single insert with several neck holes keeps a row of oils neatly upright, which looks impressive when the lid is lifted.

  • Neck hole insert for standard round dropper bottles
  • Full-body cradle for square or faceted bottles
  • Flocked or foam insert inside a rigid gift box
  • Multi-hole insert for discovery sets of three or more oils
  • Base platform to lift short bottles to the box opening

Measuring Your Bottle

Measure the overall height from the base to the top of the bulb, the widest diameter of the glass body and the diameter of the neck just below the cap. If the bottle has a shoulder, note the height at which the shoulder starts, because that is where a neck insert will rest.

Add 2 to 3 mm to the body width and around 5 mm to the height for a snug fit with a little headroom. Too much room and the bottle rattles; too little and the bulb is pressed when the lid closes. If you use bottles from more than one supplier, measure each, as identical-looking bottles often vary by a millimetre or two.

For amber or cobalt glass bottles with a dropper label, check that the label is not scuffed by the insert. A slightly larger neck hole can avoid that. Our guide on how to measure a dropper to the bulb explains the headroom a bulb needs.

Box Styles for Oil Perfumers

Most perfume dropper boxes are tall tuck end cartons with a reverse or straight tuck. They are light, cheap to post and easy to pack. A box with a hanging tab works for shops that display oils on pegs, while a window front shows the colour of the oil and the glasswork.

Rigid two-piece boxes and magnetic flap boxes suit premium attar houses and gift sets. A tube-style box in card suits a single bottle sold as a gift and has a pleasing feel when the lid slides off. Drawer boxes work well for sets of small sample droppers.

If you sell sample sizes as well as full sizes, keep the same design across both and simply scale the box. Customers who like a sample can then recognise the full-size version immediately.

Designing for Fragrance Oils

Perfume oils are often sold on scent notes and heritage rather than on a celebrity name, so the box is a good place to tell that story. The front can carry the fragrance name and a short line on the character, such as smoky oud with rose. The back can list the key notes, the volume and your usage advice for a dropper, which many first-time buyers appreciate.

Rich colours, intricate patterns and gold or copper foil are popular in this category and suit the traditions of attar making. Minimal designs with a single colour and a foil logo also work well, especially for modern brands selling skin-scent oils. Embossing the fragrance name adds a tactile detail at low cost.

Because dropper boxes are slim, keep text sizes sensible on the narrow side panels. Our free design proof shows every panel at actual size so you can check legibility.

Board and Finish Choices

A 350 gsm folding boxboard is a good default for single bottles. For heavier glass, or bottles in sets, step up to a thicker board or a rigid construction. Soft touch laminate feels luxurious and resists fingerprints, which matters for dark-coloured boxes. Gloss laminate brightens jewel colours.

Oils can mark board if a bottle leaks. A laminate on the inside of the box, or a small sealed bag around the bottle, protects the carton and the customer's other purchases if the cap loosens in transit.

Think about where the box will be opened. A customer unboxing a single attar at home will notice the feel of the board and the snugness of the insert. A shop assistant pulling testers from a drawer cares more about the box being easy to open and reclose. A tuck end with a thumb notch on the lid flap helps both.

For sets, a magnetic flap box with a flocked insert gives the most memorable opening, but it adds weight to postal orders. A lighter folding carton with a well-cut card insert can look nearly as good at a fraction of the postage.

Measure to the Top of the Bulb and Allow Headroom

Dropper bottles are taller than they look because the bulb sits above the cap, so measure the height to the top of the bulb, the body width and the neck width, each within a millimetre, and allow a few millimetres of headroom so the bulb is never squeezed. Square bottles need a full-body cradle rather than a round neck hole; a row of oils in a discovery set needs a multi-hole insert. Decide whether the box is a tuck carton for shop sales or a rigid gift box for an attar launch, and whether a window shows the oil colour. Many perfumers run one box with a plain front and add a printed label for each fragrance as the range grows.

Send the bottle measurements, box style, insert type and the number of fragrances, and a custom quote comes by email within one working day, with minimums low enough to add scents one at a time. The free proof shows the insert cut-outs over the bottle outline. Production takes 4 to 7 working days after approval, boxes arrive by tracked courier to UK mainland addresses, and torn inserts or misprints reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded.

Perfume Dropper Boxes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering perfume dropper boxes.

How do I stop the dropper bulb being squeezed in the box?

Allow a few millimetres of headroom above the bulb and use a neck insert so the bottle cannot slide upwards. The lid then never presses on the bulb.

Which insert suits a square dropper bottle?

A full-body cradle that wraps the glass works better than a round neck hole. We cut it to the exact shape of your bottle.

Can one insert hold several oils?

Yes, a multi-hole insert holds a row of bottles upright for discovery sets and gift boxes.

How precisely should I measure a 10 ml dropper bottle for its box?

Within a millimetre. Measure the height to the top of the bulb, the body width and the neck width, and send a photo beside a ruler if the shoulders are curved. The insert is cut to those figures, so a loose measurement means a loose fit.

Can the box protect against leaks?

A laminated inner surface or a sealed bag around the bottle stops oil from marking the box if a cap loosens.

Can I use one box for all my fragrances?

Many brands do, adding a printed label for each scent. It keeps stock simple and labels can be reprinted in short runs.

Is a window a good idea for perfume oils?

It shows the oil colour and bottle design well. Keep it on boxes sold in shops; posted orders often do better without film.

Which finish suits a dark, rich design?

Soft touch laminate with gold or copper foil is a popular combination and hides fingerprints on dark colours.

Can boxes for a new attar be ready for its release?

Once the insert and artwork are signed off on the proof, boxes are made in 4 to 7 working days and sent by free tracked courier to UK mainland addresses within 2 to 3 working days.

Can I order small quantities for a new scent?

Yes, minimums are low and quoted per job, which suits perfumers adding fragrances one at a time.

What if the neck insert in a dropper box arrives torn?

Report it within 10 days with a photo and we reprint or refund the affected boxes. Inserts travel flat with the cartons, so tearing in transit is unusual.
