Custom Large Slot Table Tents
A large slot table tent has a wide opening across its face so you can slide a printed card in and swap it whenever the message changes. Hotels, offices and venues use custom large slot table tents to keep a branded holder on the table while menus, notices and room information change underneath.

A Holder Rather Than a One-Off Print
A standard table tent is printed with a message and replaced when the message changes. A large slot tent works differently. The tent itself carries your brand, colours and perhaps a permanent heading, and a separate card slides into a slot cut across one or both faces. When the information changes, you print a new card and leave the tent where it is.
That makes it well suited to places where content changes often but the branding does not. A hotel can keep the same tents on every room desk and update the room service menu cards. An office can label meeting rooms and swap the booking details. A conference venue can reuse the same tents across several events with different agendas.
It also saves money over time, because the more elaborate tent is printed once and the inserts can be simple single sheets.
There is a consistency benefit too. When every table, room or desk has the same branded holder, the space looks coordinated, even if the inserts are updated by different members of staff at different times. Guests see a professional, unified presentation rather than a mix of printouts and laminated sheets. Tents where the message is printed straight on are covered under custom table tents with printed faces.
How the Slot Is Made
The slot is a long cut through the front panel, usually near the top or bottom edge, with a matching tuck at the opposite side or a pocket formed behind the panel. The insert card slides in through the slot and is held flat against the face of the tent. A large slot accepts a card almost the full width of the tent, so the insert can carry a full menu or notice.
The slot can run horizontally for landscape inserts or vertically on taller tents. Some designs have a pocket on both faces, so different information shows on each side of the table. A thumb cut beside the slot makes it easy to pull the old card out. A narrower slot for thinner cards is shown on the regular slot table tents for A6 cards page.

Choosing the Insert Size
Most large slot tents are designed around a standard paper size so inserts are easy to print, either by us or on an office printer. A6 inserts suit small tents on café tables and hotel bedside tables. DL inserts suit tall, narrow tents. A5 inserts suit larger tents in restaurants, offices and conference rooms.
Choosing a standard size means your team can update inserts in-house on short notice, such as a daily specials card or a meeting room schedule, and order professionally printed inserts for longer-term information like a hotel services guide.
Think about how much text the insert must carry. A room service menu with descriptions and prices needs more space than a meeting room name. If you have very different types of content, two tent sizes with different insert sizes may serve better than one size trying to cover everything.
Card weight for inserts matters a little. A slightly stiffer card slides into the slot more easily and stays flat, while very thin paper can buckle inside the pocket. Card weights for inserts are compared in the board and card types guide.
Board, Print and Finish
Because the tent stays in use for months, it needs to be robust. A heavy board around 400 gsm keeps its shape, and lamination protects the surface from spills and handling. Matt lamination is the usual choice in hotels and offices because it reduces glare; gloss suits bright café and bar designs.
The tent is printed in full colour with your branding around the slot, often a logo at the top, a contact line at the bottom and a background colour or pattern that frames the insert. Foil or spot UV on the logo can add a premium touch for hotel rooms and executive meeting spaces.
Inserts can be printed on lighter card, as they are protected by the tent and replaced regularly.
Rounded corners on the tent are a small detail that helps it last, as square corners tend to fray and lift first when tents are handled every day. Laminates that survive daily wiping are described in the print and finish options guide.
Where Large Slot Tents Are Used
Hotels use them on room desks, bedside tables, breakfast tables and in lounges for room service menus, spa offers, Wi-Fi details and local information. Offices use them on meeting room tables and reception desks. Restaurants use them for specials and drinks lists that change weekly. Conference centres and event venues use them for agendas, table numbers and sponsor information that changes between events.
Hospitals, schools and public buildings also use them for notices that need updating, such as visiting hours, menus or safety information, because the holder looks tidy and professional while the content stays current.
Co-working spaces and serviced offices use them to show house rules, event listings and booking information on shared tables, updating cards weekly as events change. Venues that need a tent with no slot at all use the no-cut table tents for short promotions.
Designing Around a Changeable Card
Treat the tent and the insert as two layers. The tent should look complete even with a plain insert, so use it for the elements that never change: your logo, a heading such as Room Service or Today's Specials, and your brand colours. Keep the area behind the slot simple, as it will be covered.
Design the insert template at the same time so your team can update it easily. A simple layout with a heading, a list and a footer, set up in a format your team can edit, keeps every insert consistent with the brand. If you would like us to print inserts as well, we can supply them in the same order as the tents.
Allow a margin on the insert so text is not hidden by the edges of the slot. We mark the visible area on the template, so your team knows exactly where content will show once the card is in place. Our guide to how custom pricing works explains why tents and inserts are quoted as separate lines.
Print the Insert Card First, Then the Tent
Table tents outlast their inserts, so design the card that changes before the holder that does not. Settle the insert size on what your team can print in-house, usually A6 or A5 on a desktop printer, and keep the visible area of the slot 10 mm smaller than the card on every side so text is never hidden by the pocket edge. Then size the tent around that card, choose one slot or two, and decide how many tables need one. The template marks the visible area so staff know where content shows.
Tell us the tent size, the insert size, the number of slots, the artwork and the quantity, and a custom quote comes within one working day, with a free proof of the tent and, if needed, the insert. Production takes 4 to 7 working days after approval and tents are sent flat by free tracked courier to UK mainland addresses in 2 to 3 working days; minimums are quoted per job, and misprints or damage reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded. A fixed-message holder for menus that rarely change is covered on the A4 table tents for fixed menus page.
