Why Every Box Is Priced Separately
A custom box is made to your size, in your choice of board, with your print and finish. Change any one of those and the materials, machine time and hand work change too. That is why we do not publish a fixed price list. Instead, our prices start from £0.25 a box and every order gets its own custom quote by email, usually within one working day.
The Seven Things That Set the Price
- Size. Larger boxes use more board. The flat sheet size is what counts, so depth matters as much as length and width.
- Board. Folding card is the most economical; E flute, B flute and double wall cost progressively more; rigid greyboard with a paper wrap costs the most.
- Style. A simple tuck end box is quicker to make than a rigid magnetic box with a ribbon pull.
- Print. 1 colour costs less than full colour. Printing inside as well as outside adds a pass.
- Finish. Lamination is a modest extra. Foil, spot UV and embossing each add a step.
- Inserts. Card inserts are inexpensive; foam and wrapped inserts cost more.
- Quantity. Set-up costs are shared across the run, so the unit price falls as the quantity rises.
The board and finish photo tables show what each board and finish looks like before you choose.
How Quantity Changes the Unit Price
Every job has a set-up stage: preparing the cutting die, setting up the press and checking the first boxes. That work costs much the same whether you order a short run or a long one. Spread over more boxes, it becomes a smaller part of each unit. This is why the custom quote often shows two or three quantities side by side, so you can see where the price per box settles.
Minimum order quantities are kept low and set for each job, so you can start small and order more once you know the box works.
What Is Included
Every custom quote includes:
- A free design proof, revised until you are happy.
- Production in 4–7 working days after you approve the proof.
- Free tracked delivery to the UK mainland in 2–3 working days.
- Reprint or refund if boxes are misprinted or damaged and reported within 10 days.
There is no separate charge for the proof or for delivery to the UK mainland. See free UK mainland delivery details for more.
Ways to Lower the Price
- Size to the product. A box that fits uses less board and can cut your postage too.
- Choose the lightest board that works. E flute instead of B flute, or card instead of corrugated for shelf products.
- Reduce print colours. A 1 colour logo on kraft can look just as considered as full colour.
- Print one side. Keep inside print for when it adds real value.
- Pick one finish. One feature finish on the logo often beats several.
- Order a little more. If the quote shows a big step down at a higher quantity, it may be worth it.
Reading Your Custom Quote
Your quote lists the box style, internal size, board, print, finish and any insert, with a price per box and a total for each quantity. If we suggest an alternative, for example a lighter board or a different style, it appears as a separate option so you can compare. Nothing is ordered until you confirm, and nothing is printed until you approve the proof. Our help page on ordering and payment explains each step after the quote.
An Example of How Choices Add Up
Take a mailer box for folded clothing. In kraft E flute with a 1 colour logo on the lid and no lamination, it sits near the lower end of the range. Move to white board with full colour print outside, and the price rises a little. Add full colour print inside, matt lamination and a foil logo, and each step adds again. None of these choices is wrong; the point is that each one is visible on the quote, so you can decide which are worth it for your product.
The same logic works in reverse. If a first quote is higher than you hoped, ask us which change would save the most. Often it is one finish or one print pass, not the box itself. The comparison of print and finish options shows which finishes add the most.
Prices for Reorders
Reorders of the same box are quoted the same way as a first order: by size, board, print, finish and quantity. Because the artwork and layout are already approved, reorders usually move to production faster. If you plan to reorder regularly, tell us the likely quantities and timing, and we can quote with that in mind.
What Is Not in the Box Price
Your custom quote covers the boxes, the free design proof and free tracked delivery to the UK mainland. Artwork creation from scratch, delivery off the UK mainland and unusual extras such as special ribbons are quoted separately if you ask for them, so there are no surprises when the invoice arrives. If you need dividers or trays, compare card, corrugated and foam inserts first.
Getting Your Price
The fastest way to a price is the custom box quote form: box style, internal size in mm, quantity, print and finish. If you do not know some of these yet, leave them blank and tell us about the product; we will fill in the gaps. You can also call, email or message us on WhatsApp.
