Kraft gable boxes are made from brown kraft folding board, which is strong for its weight and folds crisply at the handle. Lighter boards suit favours and small gift boxes. Heavier boards suit takeaway meals and larger bakery orders, where the handle must carry real weight without tearing.

For hot or greasy food, a grease-resistant inner coating stops oil soaking through and keeps the handle strong. Where food sits directly against the board, food-contact grade board is available on request.

An auto-lock base, which snaps into place as the box is opened, speeds up packing and gives extra support underneath, which is useful for heavier takeaway orders.

Printing Kraft Gable Boxes With Your Logo

Brown kraft changes how colours look. Black, white, dark green, navy and deep red print crisply and look natural on kraft. Pale colours and pastels tend to look muted because the brown shows through. White ink gives a clean, modern look, and a white base layer under colours can brighten them when needed.

Most brands keep kraft gable designs simple: a logo on the front, a website or social handle on the side and perhaps a pattern on the roof panels. Because the handle is seen first when the box is carried, putting a small logo on the roof panels is an easy way to make it recognisable from a distance.

Not every business is ready for a fully printed box, and kraft gables are one of the few formats that look good with low-cost branding. A plain kraft gable with a round sticker sealing the handle, or a rubber stamp of your logo on the front, still looks deliberate because the natural board does the rest of the work.

This is a useful way to start. Market traders and new bakeries often begin with plain or one-colour boxes plus stickers, then move to a fully printed design once they know which sizes sell. Stickers also let you change flavours, dates or prices without reprinting the boxes, which suits menus that rotate weekly.

Getting the Size Right

Measure your product as it will be packed, including any container, tray or wrapping. For takeaway, measure the food container you use; for bakery items, measure the arrangement you want inside. The usable height is to the shoulder of the box, where the roof panels begin to slope, so tall items need extra height.

Think about how many items customers usually buy. If most orders are two or four items, size the box around that number. A box that is too big lets food slide about, while one that is too tight crushes the contents when the roof is closed.

For favour boxes, fill one with the actual sweets or gift before ordering a full run. A box that looks generous empty can feel sparse once filled, and it is easier to adjust the size at proof stage than after delivery.
