Custom Mini Boxes with Lids
Some of the most memorable packaging is the smallest: a tiny lidded box holding a ring, a sample of perfume or a single truffle. Our custom mini boxes with lids are made in two-piece lift-off styles, printed with your branding and sized for samples, jewellery, favours and little treats.

Small Box, Big Impression
A mini box with a lid is one of the most versatile packages a small brand can own. It is cheap to post, easy to store, and it makes even a small item feel like a gift. The two-piece design, with a base and a separate lid that slides on and off, is satisfying to open and keeps the contents secure.
Customers often keep mini boxes long after the product is used, for storing jewellery, buttons, keepsakes or spare parts. That means your logo stays on a dressing table or a desk for months, a quiet reminder of your brand every time the box is picked up.
Mini boxes also work well as part of a larger order. A tiny box tucked into a parcel, holding a sample or a small free gift, adds a pleasant surprise to the unboxing. They are equally useful at a craft fair or pop-up stall, where a row of neat lidded boxes looks far more appealing than small items scattered in a tray, and where each sale can be handed over ready to give without any extra wrapping. For slightly larger gifts, paperboard boxes with lids keep the same two-piece look.
What Fits in a Mini Box
Mini boxes are used for a remarkable range of products. The common thread is that the contents are small, often valuable or special, and benefit from being presented rather than simply wrapped. Jewellery makers sometimes prefer a kraft drawer box with a sliding tray for the same small pieces.
- Rings, earrings and small pendants
- Perfume and skincare samples
- Single chocolates, truffles or macarons

Sizing Mini Boxes with Lids
Mini boxes can be as small as 30 mm square, though most are between 40 and 80 mm across. Measure the item, or the item on its card or cushion, and add a few millimetres all round. The depth should leave room for any insert plus a little clearance under the lid.
The lid depth is a design choice. A full-depth lid covers the whole base and gives a smooth, seamless look. A shallow lid, covering perhaps a third of the base, shows a band of the base below and is easier to lift. Shallow lids also allow a contrasting colour on the base to show, which can look striking.
If you use mini boxes for several products, a single size that fits most of them simplifies ordering. A small card insert can take up space for smaller items. Be careful with very small boxes, though: under about 40 mm, there is little room for print, and a logo that looks fine on screen can become hard to read. A simple mark, such as an initial or a symbol, often works better than a full logo on the tiniest sizes.
Folding or Rigid Construction
Mini boxes come in two main constructions. Folding mini boxes are made from printed board that is folded and glued, or folded and locked, into a base and lid. They are light, cost-effective and arrive flat, which saves storage space. They suit favours, samples and products sold in large numbers.
Rigid mini boxes are made from thick greyboard wrapped in printed or textured paper. They feel solid and premium and do not crush easily. They suit jewellery, luxury samples and gifts. Rigid boxes arrive ready made, so they take more storage space, but they need no assembly.
Kraft board is popular for both constructions, giving a natural, handmade look that suits artisan products, weddings and small batch makers. If you will assemble folding boxes yourself, ask for a crash lock or glued base on the larger sizes; it saves time and gives a firmer bottom for heavier items such as a candle tin or a jar of balm. Our board and card types guide compares folding carton board with rigid greyboard.
Inserts and Finishing Details
Even a tiny box benefits from an insert. A slit foam pad holds a ring upright, a card with holes holds a pair of earrings, and a small cushion supports a pendant. For samples, a card insert with a cut-out holds a vial or a small jar in place. For chocolates, a paper cup or a small tray keeps the treat still.
Shredded paper, tissue and crinkle paper are cheaper alternatives and give a relaxed, gift-wrapped look, especially for favours and mixed treats where items vary in shape. A ribbon tied around the lid, a sticker seal or a small tag adds a finishing touch.
Print can go on the lid only, the lid and base, or inside too. A tiny message printed inside the lid, such as a thank-you or a care instruction, is a lovely detail on a small box. Another way to frame a small product is with raised lid boxes for small gifts, where the base shows below the lid.
Using Mini Boxes for Sampling
Sampling is one of the best ways to win new customers, and the packaging matters. A sample sent in a printed mini box feels like a real product, not an afterthought. Customers are more likely to try it, and more likely to remember your brand when they do.
Perfume, skincare and tea brands often send samples in mini boxes with orders, at events or to potential stockists. A QR code or a discount code printed on the box links the sample to your full range. Leave a small blank panel on the base or side where you can write or sticker the product name, so the same printed box can carry any sample in your range without a separate print run for each one. If you send samples regularly, a standard sample box design that works for several products keeps costs down. Sample sets that need a shape of their own also work well in printed custom cube boxes.
Ordering Your Mini Lidded Boxes
Send us the size of the item, the construction you prefer, the lid style and your artwork. You will get a custom quote by email within one working day. Minimums are low and set per job, so a small brand or a couple planning wedding favours can order a sensible number.
Every order comes with a free design proof. After approval, production takes four to seven working days, and the boxes are sent with free tracked delivery to UK mainland addresses in two to three working days. If any mini boxes arrive damaged or misprinted, let us know within ten days and we will reprint or refund them. Prices start from £0.25 per box for simple folding styles on larger runs.

Mini Boxes with Lids Questions
What buyers ask before ordering mini boxes with lids.
How small can a mini box be?
Mini boxes can be as small as 30 mm square, though most are between 40 and 80 mm across. We size each one to your item.
Should I choose a full-depth or shallow lid?
A full-depth lid gives a clean look. A shallow lid is easier to lift and lets a contrasting base colour show.
Can a mini box hold a ring upright?
Yes. A slit foam insert holds a ring upright and presents it neatly when the lid comes off.
Are folding mini boxes sturdy enough to post?
Yes, inside a padded envelope or small mailer. Rigid mini boxes are tougher if they will travel without extra protection.
Can I use mini boxes for wedding favours?
Yes. Kraft and white mini boxes with a printed name or monogram are popular for favours, often with a ribbon.
Can I print a message inside the lid?
Yes. A short thank-you or care note printed inside the lid is a lovely detail on a small box.
Can one mini box size fit several products?
Often, yes. A single size with a small card insert to take up space can cover several items.
What do mini boxes with lids cost?
Simple folding styles on larger runs start from £0.25 per box. Rigid boxes and special finishes cost more.
How long will my mini boxes take?
Production is four to seven working days after approval, and free tracked delivery to the UK mainland takes two to three working days.
Do folding mini boxes need assembling?
Yes, they arrive flat and fold into shape. Rigid mini boxes arrive ready made.
