Custom Zipper Bags
Custom zipper bags are printed plastic bags with a slider or press zip across the top, made for folded garments, accessories and samples that need to stay clean and resealable. Fashion labels use them as inner packaging, and they are just as handy for spare parts, swatches and travel kits.

Why Brands Choose a Zip Seal
A zip closure does two jobs a plain polybag cannot. It keeps dust, damp and handling marks off the product during storage and shipping, and it lets the customer reopen and close the bag afterwards. That second point matters more than it sounds: a T-shirt bag that can be resealed tends to be kept and reused for travel, gym kit or storage, so your logo stays in use long after the order arrives.
For retail, a zipper bag also lets a shopper check fabric or size and put the item back neatly. Staff spend less time refolding, and returned items come back in a better state.
Beyond clothing, these bags are popular for sample packs sent to stockists, fabric swatches, small hardware kits, toiletries for hotels and gyms, and sets of craft supplies. Anywhere a customer is likely to dip in and out of the contents, a resealable bag keeps everything together.
Brands that post orders often use a zipper bag as the inner layer inside a mailer box or poly mailer. The outer packaging takes the knocks of transit, while the zipper bag is what the customer keeps. For a matching set, the same artwork also works on our zip lock bags.
Slider Zips, Press Zips and Bag Styles
There are two main closures. A slider zip has a small plastic pull that runs along the track; it feels premium and is easy to use for anyone, including children. A press zip, sometimes called a grip seal, closes when you pinch the two tracks together and costs less per bag. Both reseal many times.
The bag itself can be flat, or gusseted at the base so it stands and holds bulkier folded items such as hoodies. Some brands add a hang hole above the zip so the bag can go on a retail peg, or a punched handle so it works as a small carry bag for accessories. Food brands use the same zips on our mylar ziplock bags for food with a barrier film.

Choosing Film and Thickness
Most zipper bags are made from polyethylene film. Clear film shows the product and colour of the garment; frosted film gives a soft, matt look that hides creases and feels more considered. Opaque white or coloured film is useful when you want privacy or a strong block of brand colour.
Film thickness is measured in microns. Lighter film suits small items such as socks or jewellery and keeps the bag flexible. Heavier film holds its shape, resists punctures from buttons or hangers and feels sturdier in the hand. We will recommend a thickness on your custom quote based on what goes inside and whether the bag will be posted or only used on a shelf.
If the bag needs to carry a barcode, size or care information, leave space in the artwork or plan for a small label. Printing size variations directly onto separate bag runs is possible, but a label is usually simpler for brands with many sizes. Our film finishes compared guide shows a logo on frosted, clear and coloured film.
Sizing Zipper Bags for Folded Clothing
Fold the garment exactly as your packing team will, then measure the folded piece. Add around 20 mm to the width and 30 to 40 mm to the length so the item slides in past the zip without catching. Remember the zip track takes up space at the top of the bag, so the usable length is slightly shorter than the overall length.
For thick items, a gusset makes a big difference. A flat bag stretched over a folded hoodie looks strained and the zip can pop open. A bag with a 40 to 60 mm base gusset sits flat and closes easily.
Many fashion brands settle on three sizes: small for accessories and underwear, medium for tops, and large for knitwear and trousers. That covers most of a typical range without forcing the warehouse to stock dozens of bag sizes. Our method for measuring a folded garment works for bags as well as boxes.
Printing Your Logo on Film
Plastic film takes print differently to card. Bold, solid shapes work best, and a single colour logo on frosted film looks particularly clean. White ink can be printed as a base layer on clear film so coloured artwork stays bright rather than looking see-through.
Keep the design clear of the zip track and seal edges, where print can distort. Most brands place the logo centrally on the front and add a simple line such as a website, care note or reuse message on the back. Full-colour artwork is possible for more detailed brand graphics. Short runs can use plain bags with logo stickers for plain bags until a printed run is justified.
Packing Tips From Fashion Warehouses
Fold garments to a consistent size before they go into the bag. A folding board at the packing bench keeps every T-shirt the same width, which means bags close easily and stack neatly in the mailer. If tops are folded differently each time, some will strain the zip while others swim in the bag.
Insert the garment with the front facing the printed side of the bag, so the customer sees the logo and the design of the item together when they open the parcel. Push out excess air before closing the zip; a puffy bag takes up more room in the mailer and can burst the seal if pressed.
For items with sharp parts, such as metal buckles or badges, turn them inward or wrap them in tissue first. Film is tough, but a sharp point under pressure can still pierce it. Keeping the bag intact is what makes it worth reusing, and reuse is what keeps your brand in front of the customer.
If you sell bundles, one larger gusseted bag that holds a matching set looks more generous than several small bags thrown into a box together. The outer bag for the courier is covered on our poly mailer bags for posting page.
Fold Your Largest Garment and Measure That
Zipper bags are sized by the folded garment, so fold a hoodie or a coat the way your packers do, press it flat and measure the length, width and thickness of the folded stack. Add 20 mm on each side so the zip closes without strain, and you have the bag. If you sell tees and hoodies, two sizes usually cover the range. Then choose the zip: a slider for retail and premium orders, a press zip for samples and spares. Pick the film by the look you want, frosted for a calm matt finish or clear for showing the print, and the thickness by how heavy the garment is. Artwork is a logo in one or two colours, sent as a vector file, and the free proof shows the print positioned on the bag with the zip marked. A custom quote comes by email within one working day, minimums are quoted per job and kept low, and bags are made in 4–7 working days after approval with free tracked UK mainland delivery. Misprints or damage reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded. Thicker film with a barrier layer is on our mylar bags for a thicker film page.

Zipper Bags Questions
What buyers ask before ordering zipper bags.
Should I choose a slider zip or a press zip?
A slider zip feels more premium and is easier for children or anyone with less grip strength. A press zip costs less and is ideal for samples or spare parts. Both can be reopened and closed many times.
Can a zipper bag hold a folded hoodie neatly?
Yes, if it has a base gusset. A gusset of around 40 to 60 mm lets the bag sit flat around thick knitwear and stops the zip straining. We list the gusset depth on your proof.
What is frosted film and why do brands like it?
Frosted film has a soft matt surface that diffuses light. It hides creases in folded garments and gives the bag a calmer, more considered look than glossy clear film. Logos printed in one colour read clearly on it.
Can coloured artwork be printed on clear film?
Yes. We print a white ink base under the colours so they stay bright instead of showing through. Without that base, colours on clear film can look faint.
Where should the logo sit on the bag?
Usually centred on the front, clear of the zip track and side seals. Print near those areas can distort. Your free design proof shows exactly where it will sit.
Do I need different bags for every garment size?
Not usually. Most fashion brands manage with three bag sizes covering accessories, tops and knitwear. Size information can go on a small label rather than separate print runs.
Can zipper bags go straight into the post?
Heavier film bags can travel inside a mailer, but we recommend an outer box or poly mailer for posting. The zipper bag then stays clean and becomes the part the customer keeps and reuses.
Can you add a hang hole for retail display?
Yes, a punched hang hole above the zip lets the bag hang on a peg or hook. This suits accessories, socks and small kits sold in shops. Tell us the hook type and we will position the hole to suit.
How thick should the film be for children's clothes?
A medium film thickness usually works well, strong enough to resist buttons and zips but still flexible. We recommend a specific thickness on your custom quote once we know the garments. A slider zip is also easier for small hands.
How quickly can a new clothing label get its first bags?
Your custom quote arrives within one working day of enquiry. After approving the free proof, production takes 4–7 working days and free tracked UK mainland delivery takes 2–3 working days. Minimums are low and quoted per job.
What if the zip on some bags does not close properly?
Report any faulty, misprinted or damaged bags within 10 days of delivery. We will reprint or refund the affected custom zipper bags. A photo of the issue helps us resolve it quickly.
