Long Box or Square Box?

The first decision is the shape of the box, and it follows from how the bracelet will lie. A long, narrow box lets a chain or tennis bracelet lie straight, fully extended, so the customer sees the whole length at once. This is the traditional presentation for fine jewellery, and it shows off stones set along the chain.

A square box suits bracelets that are displayed in a circle: beaded bracelets on elastic, bangles, cuffs and charm bracelets wrapped around a pillow. The bracelet keeps its natural shape and the box is compact. Square boxes are also more versatile, since many can be shared with necklaces, watches and earrings in the same range.

If you sell both types, using the same design across a long box and a square box keeps your packaging consistent while giving each piece the right presentation. Think, too, about how the boxes are stored and displayed. Long boxes line up neatly in a glass cabinet drawer, while square boxes stack in towers on a counter or fit several to a shelf. If you sell from a market stall, square boxes are easier to pack away at the end of the day. Rigid bangles that do not flex need the extra depth of our deeper bangle boxes.

Inserts for Every Bracelet Style

The insert holds the bracelet in place and decides how it is seen. A good insert stops the piece sliding around when the box is carried and presents it attractively when the lid comes off. A velvet insert with a pillow gives the softest hold for beaded and elastic pieces.

  • Pillow insert: a small padded cushion that a bracelet wraps around, ideal for beaded and charm bracelets
  • Bar insert: a raised bar with a slot, holding a chain or tennis bracelet straight across a long box
  • Card insert: a printed card with slits, holding a fine chain bracelet flat, good for lower-cost pieces
  • Foam slit insert: holds a rigid cuff or bangle upright
  • Flat velvet pad: for chunky chains laid in a loose curve

Sizing Bracelet Boxes Properly

For a long box, measure the bracelet laid straight from end to end, including the clasp, and add 20 to 30 mm. Most bracelets are between 160 and 210 mm long, so long bracelet boxes are commonly around 220 to 240 mm. The width only needs to allow for the widest part of the bracelet plus the insert.

For a square box, measure the bracelet's diameter when wrapped round a pillow or worn shape, plus its thickness. A box of 85 to 95 mm square holds most beaded and charm bracelets. Chunky cuffs and stacked sets may need a slightly larger or deeper box.

If you sell bracelets in several sizes, such as small, medium and large, the longest or widest version sets the box size. The insert can usually cope with the smaller sizes too. Adjustable slider bracelets and those with extender chains are worth measuring at full extension, because a customer opening the box may find the chain bunched in a corner if it was squeezed in at its longest. A bar insert with a slot at each end keeps the chain taut and tidy, whatever the length setting.

Materials and Box Construction

Rigid boxes made from greyboard wrapped in printed or textured paper feel solid and protect well. They suit fine jewellery and gifts. A hinged rigid box with a magnetic catch keeps the lid attached, which customers like because it becomes a place to store the bracelet.

Folding cartons are lighter, ship flat and cost less, making them practical for fashion jewellery and makers selling online or at markets. A two-piece folding box with a lid can look surprisingly smart with the right print and finish. Kraft board suits handmade and natural jewellery brands. For makers posting orders, a folding bracelet box slips into a padded envelope or a small mailer without much bulk, which keeps postage down, and its flat-packed form takes up little room in a home studio until it is needed.

Drawer boxes, with a tray sliding out of a printed sleeve, give a lovely reveal and suit both fine and fashion jewellery.

Colour, Print and Small Luxuries

Bracelet boxes for fine jewellery are often kept simple: a single colour, a foil logo and a contrasting insert. White and black are classic, while blush pink, sage green and navy are popular for modern brands. Gold foil suits gold and yellow-toned jewellery, silver foil suits silver and white gold.

Fashion jewellery brands can be bolder, with patterns, illustrations or bright colours that reflect the style of the pieces. Printing inside the lid, perhaps with a message or care advice, adds a personal touch. A ribbon around the box or a branded sticker seal finishes it off and keeps the lid closed in a handbag.

For gift shops selling a range of brands, a neutral box with the shop's own logo is a smart choice. It ties every purchase back to the shop rather than the maker, and it means one box design can be used across every bracelet on the counter, whoever made it. Our finish guide shows foil colours compared on dark board, which helps when matching metals.

Boxes for Charm and Personalised Bracelets

Charm bracelets and personalised bracelets, such as name or initial pieces, are often bought as gifts for birthdays and milestones. Packaging for these can include a space for a message, a card insert explaining the meaning of a charm, or a slot for adding charms later.

Brands selling build-your-own bracelets sometimes use a larger box with separate compartments for the bracelet and individual charms. That lets the customer see the full set and adds to the gift experience. If this is your business, describe your typical set and we will plan the layout. If you also sell earrings and pendants, our jewellery boxes for a full range keep one style across every piece.

Measure the Bracelet Straight and With the Clasp Closed

Bracelet boxes are sized two ways, so measure both. Lay a chain or tennis bracelet straight, including the clasp, and add 20 to 30 mm for a long box; then fasten a beaded or bangle-style piece and measure its outside diameter for a square or round box. Decide which pieces lie flat and which wrap around a pillow, because the insert is where most of the design effort goes. Makers with a mixed range often order one square box with a padded velvet pillow insert that suits most pieces, and a long box only for chains.

Send the measurements, the box shape, the insert type and your artwork, and a custom quote comes by email within one working day, with minimums low enough for independent makers. The free proof shows the box and insert together. Production takes 4 to 7 working days after approval, boxes arrive by tracked courier to UK mainland addresses, and dented or misprinted boxes reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded.

Bracelet Boxes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering bracelet boxes.

Should I use a long or square bracelet box?

Use a long box for chain and tennis bracelets that should lie straight. Use a square box for beaded, charm and rigid bracelets displayed in a circle.

What insert holds a beaded bracelet best?

A pillow insert, which the bracelet wraps around, keeps beaded and elastic bracelets in shape and looks attractive when the box opens.

How long should a long bracelet box be?

Measure the bracelet straight, including the clasp, and add 20 to 30 mm. Most long bracelet boxes are around 220 to 240 mm.

Can I use the same box for bracelets and necklaces?

A square box with a removable insert can often hold both. Long necklaces usually need a larger box than bracelets.

Which foil colour should I choose?

Gold foil suits gold and yellow-toned jewellery, while silver foil suits silver and white gold. Rose gold is popular for modern brands.

Can the box hold extra charms?

Yes. A charm set box has separate compartments for the bracelet and individual charms.

Are folding bracelet boxes good enough for gifts?

Yes, with a good print and finish. They are lighter and cheaper than rigid boxes, which suits fashion jewellery and online sales.

Can the meaning of a charm or a care note be printed inside a bracelet box lid?

Yes. A short message, the story behind a charm or care advice printed inside the lid adds a personal touch and is read every time the box is opened.

How long will my bracelet boxes take?

Four to seven working days to make after proof approval, then two to three working days for free tracked UK mainland delivery.

What if a bracelet box arrives with a dented lid corner?

Tell us within ten days and include a photo. Dented or misprinted boxes are reprinted or refunded, and we pack rigid boxes in outer cartons to keep corners sharp.
