Custom Earring Boxes
A pair of earrings is tiny, easy to lose and usually bought as a gift, so the box has to hold both pieces neatly and look finished when the lid comes off. Our custom earring boxes combine a small printed box with a slotted or pierced card insert, sized for studs, hoops, huggies or statement drops.

What Makes an Earring Box Different
Most jewellery boxes are designed around one object. An earring box has to manage two, and keep them matched, facing forward and in place even when the parcel is turned upside down in the post. That is the job of the insert: a card or foam panel with holes or slits that the posts push through, or a hook slot that a French wire hangs from.
Get the insert right and the box almost sells itself. The buyer opens the lid and sees a symmetrical pair sitting at the same height, which instantly reads as care and quality. Get it wrong and the earrings slide into a corner, the backs fall off, and the first impression is of something cheap.
Because of this, we start every earring order by asking what the earrings are. A stud with a butterfly back, a lever-back drop and a chunky clip-on each need a different card and a different depth of box.
Choosing the Insert for Studs, Hoops and Drops
Studs are the simplest. A flat card with two small pierced holes, spaced to suit the stud size, lets the posts pass through so the butterflies can be fitted from behind. The card then drops into a shallow box. For very small studs, a slightly thicker card stops the holes tearing when customers take them out and put them back.
Hoops and huggies sit better in a slit. A short horizontal cut lets the hoop pass through and close behind, so it stands proud of the card like it would on an ear. Large hoops may need a taller card or a box that opens from the front.
Drops, chandeliers and ear climbers need height. A tall card with a hanging slot at the top keeps the full length visible, and a deeper box stops the stones pressing against the lid. For heavy statement pieces, a foam insert with cut channels holds them more firmly than card alone.

Box Styles That Suit Small Jewellery
Two-piece lid and base boxes are the classic choice for earrings. They feel substantial in the hand, the lid lifts straight off to reveal the card, and both parts can be printed. Rigid versions wrapped in coloured paper feel more premium again and suit fine jewellery or engagement gifts.
Drawer boxes, where a tray slides out of a printed sleeve, add a little theatre and work well for online shops because the sleeve protects the print in transit. Small tuck end boxes and pillow boxes keep costs down for craft fairs, market stalls and high-volume sellers who need something tidy but not elaborate.
If you sell earrings alongside rings and necklaces, keep the outer box the same across the range and change only the insert. Customers recognise the packaging, your stock is simpler to manage, and gift sets can be built by stacking boxes in a larger outer.
Printing Earring Boxes With a Logo
Earring boxes are small, so the design has to be confident rather than busy. A single logo centred on the lid, foiled in gold, silver or rose gold, often does more than a full-colour pattern. Blind embossing on a dark matt lid is another quiet way to look expensive without adding colour.
The insert card is valuable space too. Many makers print the brand name or a short care note on the card itself, so it stays with the earrings after the box is put away. The underside of the lid can carry a thank-you line or social handle that only appears when the box is opened.
For makers who want a handmade feel, a plain kraft box with a one-colour print or a printed sticker seal keeps the look natural.
Earring Boxes for Shops, Markets and Online Orders
Where you sell changes what the box needs to do. In a shop cabinet, the box is a display piece, so a lid that can sit underneath the base while the earrings are on show is useful, and a consistent colour across the counter helps the range look hand-picked. At a market stall, speed matters more: a pre-carded pair dropped into a tuck box or pillow box can be handed over in seconds.
Online orders face the roughest journey. The earrings must stay on the card while the parcel is sorted, so a firm insert and a closure that will not pop open are essential. Many sellers add a small printed card with the order, care advice or a discount code for the next purchase, which turns an ordinary delivery into something that feels personal. Shops that sell matching sets often pair the box with necklace boxes in the same wrap paper.
Sizing Your Earring Packaging
Measure the earrings when they are mounted on a card, not loose on the bench. Note the height from the top of the post or hook to the bottom of the drop, the width across the pair, and the deepest point, which is usually a stone or the butterfly back.
Add a few millimetres around the card so it can be lifted out by the edge, and check the box depth clears the backs. If you sell several styles, it is often more efficient to choose two box sizes and vary the card inside, rather than ordering a different box for every design. Send us a photo with a ruler beside the earrings and we can suggest the best fit.
Ordering Tips for Jewellers and Online Sellers
Start with your best seller. Getting the box right for the earrings you sell most often gives you the biggest return, and you can add other sizes once the first order has proved the design. Ask for the insert card and the box on the same proof so you can see how they look together.
We send a free design proof before anything is printed, and once it is approved production takes 4 to 7 working days. Delivery is free and tracked to UK mainland addresses in 2 to 3 working days. Minimums are kept low and quoted per job, so a new label can order a modest first run and reorder as it grows. Send your earring sizes and a rough quantity and we will reply with a custom quote within one working day.

Earring Boxes Questions
What buyers ask before ordering earring boxes.
Can the insert card hold studs with butterfly backs?
Yes. We pierce two holes in the card at the spacing you choose, so the posts go through and the backs fit on behind. Thicker card is used for tiny studs so the holes do not tear with repeated handling.
What insert works best for hoop earrings?
A short slit cut into the card usually works best, because the hoop passes through and closes behind so it stands up as it would when worn. Very large hoops may need a taller card or a box that opens at the front.
Will long drop earrings fit in a standard box?
Long drops normally need a taller card with a hanging slot and a slightly deeper box. Tell us the full drop length from hook to tip and we will size the box so nothing presses against the lid.
Can I print my logo on the earring card as well as the box?
Yes, the card can be printed on one or both sides. Many makers put the brand name on the front of the card and care instructions on the back, so the information stays with the earrings.
Which finish makes small earring boxes look more premium?
Foil stamping on a matt or soft-touch lid is the most popular choice, as a small logo in gold or silver reads clearly at this size. Blind embossing is a subtler option for minimal brands.
Can I use one box size for several earring designs?
Often you can. Keeping one or two outer sizes and changing the insert card for each style simplifies your stock and keeps the brand consistent. We can advise once we see your range.
Do you make earring boxes that also hold a necklace?
Yes. A combination card with earring holes and a pendant slot fits into a wider lid and base or drawer box, which suits matching sets and gifts.
Are earring boxes suitable for posting to customers?
A rigid or drawer box with a snug insert travels well inside a small mailer or padded envelope. If you post a lot of orders, a printed sleeve over the drawer box protects the design from scuffs.
Can I order kraft earring boxes with a simple one-colour print?
Yes, kraft board with a single ink colour or a foil logo is a good fit for handmade and natural brands. It keeps costs down while still looking deliberate.
How quickly can I have a new earring box design ready to sell?
After you approve the free proof, production takes 4 to 7 working days, then tracked delivery to UK mainland addresses takes 2 to 3 working days. Allow a little time before that for any design changes.
What do you need from me to quote for earring boxes?
Send the earring sizes or a photo with a ruler, the style of box you like, any print or finish ideas and a rough quantity. We reply with a custom quote within one working day.
