What a Speaker Box Has to Do

A portable speaker is a dense little object with a fabric grille that marks easily, rubber feet that scuff, and often a strap or carabiner that tangles with everything else in the box. It usually ships with a charging cable, a quick-start card and sometimes an aux lead or a pouch. The packaging needs to keep all of that in its place, protect the grille from pressure, and still open in a way that feels like a proper unboxing rather than a fight with tape.

It also has to sell. Speakers are bought on look and sound, and shoppers in store or scrolling online want to see the shape, the colour and the key numbers that matter to them: battery life, water resistance rating and connectivity. A well-planned box shows all of that without becoming cluttered. The same thinking applies across our electronics and home packaging range, where protection and shelf appeal both matter.

Three Ways to Build Custom Bluetooth Speaker Boxes

The right construction depends on where the speaker is sold and how much it costs. Most audio brands use one of these three, and some use two: a retail box for shops and a sturdier shipper for online orders.

  • Folding carton with a card or corrugated insert: light, economical, prints beautifully and suits speakers sold through shops and marketplaces
  • Window carton: a clear panel on the front so shoppers see the actual speaker colour on the shelf
  • Rigid lid and base box with a fitted insert: a premium feel for higher-priced speakers and gift editions
  • Corrugated mailer with printed outer: tough enough to post directly, with a branded inside for direct-to-customer sales

Inserts That Hold the Speaker Still

The insert is where a speaker box succeeds or fails. A die-cut card insert is cheap and works well for compact cylindrical or rectangular speakers: it cradles the body, keeps it off the walls of the box and leaves a separate pocket for the cable. A folded corrugated insert gives more cushioning for heavier speakers. For the most precise fit, especially on a premium rigid box, a foam or moulded pulp insert can be cut to the exact profile of the speaker.

Plan the insert around everything that ships in the box, not just the speaker. Cables are best coiled under a lift-out tray or in a slot to one side, and printed instructions slip neatly under the insert or into the lid. A small pull tab or ribbon under the speaker makes it easy to lift out without poking at the grille.

Measuring Your Speaker

Measure the speaker at its widest, deepest and tallest points, including any strap, handle loop or protruding buttons. If it has a curved or tapered shape, a quick sketch or a sample sent to us makes the insert much more accurate. Then list the accessories: cable length coiled, any pouch or lanyard, and the size of your printed card. We use those to work out the internal size, leaving enough clearance so the speaker drops into the insert and lifts out again easily.

If you sell two sizes of speaker, it is often worth keeping the same box style with two sets of dimensions so the range looks consistent side by side on a shelf.

Weight is the other number we need. A heavy speaker in a light carton will push through the base if the box is lifted by the top flap, and it puts more strain on the insert in transit. Tell us the packed weight, including accessories, and we will choose a board grade and insert that carry it without sagging. Our note on measuring a curved product explains how to record the widest point.

Print, Finish and Shelf Appeal

Audio packaging tends to follow two looks. One is dark and dramatic: black or deep colour boxes, a large product photo, a gloss spot varnish on the speaker image and a small foil logo. The other is clean and light: white board, plenty of space, a precise line drawing or photo and a few key specs. Both work. Choose the one that matches your brand and the price you charge.

Full colour CMYK printing covers photography and gradients. Matt or soft-touch lamination gives a smooth, premium handle, and spot gloss or spot UV on the product image adds depth. Embossing a logo or speaker outline is a subtle detail that people notice when they pick up the box. On the back panel, keep a clear area for the barcode, model number, specifications, the regulatory marks your speaker carries and your support details.

If you sell in several colours, one design with a colour swatch on the end panel and a different window or photo per colour keeps print costs down while helping shops pick the right box. You can see spot gloss and soft touch compared in our finish guide before choosing.

Brands and Sellers We Box For

We make speaker boxes for independent audio brands, consumer electronics start-ups launching a first product, importers rebranding speakers for their own label, promotional merchandise companies supplying branded speakers to businesses, and online marketplace sellers who need retail-ready packaging that passes marketplace inspection. Corporate gifting firms also order rigid speaker boxes for staff and client gifts, often with a printed message inside the lid.

Merchandise companies tend to need short runs in many designs, because each client wants their own logo. Folding cartons with a standard insert and changing artwork are the most efficient answer there.

Marketplace sellers should also check the packaging rules of the platform they sell through. Some require a box that can travel without an extra outer carton, a scannable barcode on a flat panel, or a particular label area. Let us know which platform you use and we will plan the panels with that in mind. Many audio brands order headphone boxes in the same style so the range sits together on a shelf.

Send the Speaker Measurements With the Cable Coiled

Speaker boxes usually go wrong because the accessories were measured loose. Coil the charging cable the way it will be packed, bag the manual and any adapter, then measure the speaker at its widest point including buttons, straps and feet. Note the packed height of each item so the insert can keep the cable away from the grille. If the speaker is curved, a quick photo against a ruler helps more than a written figure. Brands selling through shops normally want a window on the front; online sellers can skip it and spend the money on a printed corrugated mailer box that travels without an outer carton.

With those figures, your quantity and a logo, we email a custom quote within one working day, and the free proof shows the box and insert dielines with the specification panel laid out. Production takes 4 to 7 working days once approved, delivery to UK mainland addresses is free and tracked, and misprints or transit damage reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded.

Bluetooth Speaker Boxes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering bluetooth speaker boxes.

Which insert works best for a Bluetooth speaker?

For most compact speakers a die-cut card insert is enough. Heavier speakers suit a folded corrugated insert, and premium boxes can use a foam or moulded pulp insert cut to the speaker's exact shape.

Where should the charging cable go?

In its own pocket beside the speaker or under a lift-out tray. Keeping it separate stops it pressing into the grille in transit.

Can shoppers see the speaker colour through the box?

Yes, with a window carton. We set a clear panel into the front so the real colour shows on the shelf.

Is a rigid box worth it for a speaker?

For higher-priced speakers and gift editions, a rigid lid and base box feels noticeably more premium and is often kept by the customer. For marketplace sales, a folding carton is usually enough.

What should go on the back of a speaker box?

Key specifications such as battery life and connectivity, model number, barcode, the regulatory marks your product carries and your support details. We keep a clear panel for them.

Can I post a speaker box without an outer carton?

A folding carton should go inside a mailer or shipping box. A corrugated mailer with a printed outer can be posted directly.

Can I use one box design for several colours?

Yes. Keep one design and change the colour swatch, photo or window panel per colour. Each version gets its own proof.

How precise does my measurement need to be?

As precise as you can make it, including straps and buttons. For curved speakers a sample or sketch helps us cut an accurate insert.

Can you add a pull tab to lift the speaker out?

Yes. A ribbon or card tab under the speaker lets customers lift it out without touching the grille.

How long before speaker boxes are ready for launch?

Production takes 4 to 7 working days after you approve the free proof, then 2 to 3 working days for free tracked UK mainland delivery.

Can I order short runs for promotional speakers?

Yes. Minimums are quoted per job, which suits merchandise companies printing a different client logo on each run.
