Custom Phone Case Boxes

from £0.25 a boxPriced per job · low minimums

Custom phone case boxes have one tricky job: show off a thin, flat product while making clear exactly which phone it fits. We make slim hang-tab boxes, window boxes and drawer boxes printed with your brand and model details, sized to the case so it sits flat and looks its best on a peg, a shelf or a market table.

A Product Sold on Looks and Fit

Phone cases are bought for two reasons at once. The customer wants a design they love, and they need it to fit their exact phone. A box that shows the case clearly but buries the model name in small print leads to returns. A box that shouts the model but hides the design loses the sale to a competitor. Good phone case packaging gets both right on the front panel.

Cases are also very similar in shape across brands. Without strong packaging, a premium leather or designer case can look no different from a cheap one on a peg wall. The box, its finish and how it presents the case are often what convinces a shopper to pay more.

For market sellers and independent shops, a printed box also makes a stall look established and organised, compared with cases piled loose in a tray. Headphone and earbud brands face the same problem and solve it with the window-fronted headphone boxes with a clear window.

Box Styles for Phone Cases

Phone case packaging comes in a handful of familiar shapes, each suited to a different selling environment: A hang-tab window box for pegboards, a slim tuck box for shelves, a drawer with a sleeve for premium cases, a two-piece rigid box for gift sets and a flat mailer for post; the drawer version is built like our power bank boxes with a sleeve and tray.

  • Hang-tab window box: a slim carton with a euro slot header and a die-cut window, the standard for peg walls in phone shops and supermarkets.
  • Slim tuck box with window: a shelf or drawer box that shows the case through a window, for boutiques and online sales.
  • Sleeve and tray drawer: a premium box where a tray slides out of a printed sleeve, ideal for leather and designer cases.
  • Two-piece rigid box: a lid and base for luxury and gift cases, often with a fabric or card insert.
  • Flat mailer: a slim corrugated mailer that fits through a letterbox, for online case brands shipping direct.

Sizing for Many Phone Models

The biggest challenge for case brands is the sheer variety of phone models. Each case is a slightly different size, and making a unique box for every model quickly becomes expensive and complicated. The usual solution is a small set of standard box sizes, each covering a group of similar phones, with an insert or card backing that holds the case centrally.

Measure the largest case in each group, including any raised camera surround, ring holder or card pocket. Add a few millimetres all round and allow for the thickness of any insert or backing card. Most standard cases fit a box only 15 to 25 mm deep.

A printed model sticker or a box with a model panel lets one box design cover a whole group, with only the sticker changing for each phone.

New phones arrive regularly, so build some flexibility into your packaging plan. If your standard box sizes leave a little room, a new model can often slot into an existing size with nothing more than a new sticker. That lets you launch cases for a new phone quickly, without waiting on a fresh box design, and keeps your shelf looking consistent as the range changes. The grouping method follows our guide to measuring for a box.

Inserts and Backing Cards

Phone cases are hollow, flexible and lightweight, so they need support inside the box to look their best. A printed backing card sits inside the case, filling the phone shape and giving the case its proper form. The card can carry a printed image of the phone, your brand or the case's features, and it shows through the window like a display stand.

For premium cases, a shaped card or foam insert cradles the case and holds it centrally in the box. For gift sets that include a screen protector or a strap, a two-section insert keeps everything tidy.

Inserts also stop the case sliding about and scratching against the window film, which is especially important for glossy, glitter or clear cases.

Clear cases deserve particular attention. With nothing to hide behind, the backing card becomes the design, so many brands print a pattern or colour on it that shows through the case and makes it look far more appealing than an empty clear shell. Backing cards for a child's device follow the same layout as our kids smartwatch boxes with a backing card.

Print and Finish for Accessories

The front of a phone case box should show the case, the brand and the phone model clearly. Many brands keep the box design consistent across the range and let the case itself, seen through the window, provide the variety. A colour coded model band helps shoppers find their phone quickly on a busy peg wall.

Gloss lamination makes colours bright and suits fun, colourful case brands. Matt or soft touch lamination gives a more premium feel for leather, wallet and designer cases. Foil and embossing add a touch of luxury to logos, and holographic finishes suit youthful, trend-led ranges.

Use the back for features such as drop protection, wireless charging compatibility and materials, plus barcodes and your website.

A short line about the case material, such as silicone, leather or hard polycarbonate, helps shoppers compare quickly.

Selling at Markets and Online

Market sellers need packaging that is light, stackable and quick to display. Hang-tab boxes can hang from a simple pegboard stand, turning a table into a mini shop, while slim tuck boxes stack in rows by model. A consistent box design makes the whole stall look like one brand.

Online sellers often use the same retail box inside a slim mailer, or skip the retail box and ship the case in a printed flat mailer that fits through a letterbox. A printed mailer with a thank you message inside can do the job of both packaging and marketing.

If you sell on marketplaces, a retail box photographed well can improve listing images, as customers like to see what will arrive.

At festivals and outdoor markets, a box with a matt finish copes better with bright sunlight, as gloss can glare and make the window hard to see through. The free proof laid out on the hang-tab dieline shows how much of the case the window reveals.

Group Your Phone Models Into Three Box Sizes

The expensive mistake with phone case packaging is a box per model. Lay every case you sell on a table, sort them into small, standard and large by their outside size including the camera surround, and measure the biggest in each group. Add 4 mm to width and length and 3 mm to depth for the backing card, and those three figures are your three boxes. Put the model name on a sticker or on the backing card, not on the box, so one print run covers every phone. Cases sold with a screen protector need the deeper size. Brands that also sell a charger keep the same hang tab on their charger boxes with a euro slot.

Prepare one artwork for the box and a template for the backing card. Email the three sizes, the style, the number of models and the quantity and a custom quote comes back within one working day with a free design proof after it. Boxes are made in 4 to 7 working days once approved and delivered flat, free and tracked, on the UK mainland in 2 to 3 days. Boxes that arrive misprinted or crushed are reprinted or refunded when reported within 10 days.

Phone Case Boxes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering phone case boxes.

Do I need a different box for every phone model?

Not usually. Group similar models into a few box sizes and use a model sticker or panel to show which phone each case fits.

What is a backing card and do I need one?

It sits inside the case, giving it shape and carrying printed details. It makes the case look its best through a window.

Can phone case boxes hang on pegs?

Yes. Hang-tab boxes have a euro slot header for standard retail pegs.

Which box suits leather or designer cases?

A sleeve and tray drawer or a two-piece rigid box with a soft touch finish suits premium cases.

How do I show the phone model clearly?

Use a colour coded model band or a model panel on the front of the box, and keep it large enough to read on a peg wall.

Can I post phone cases in a letterbox-friendly box?

Yes. A slim corrugated mailer fits through most letterboxes and protects the case.

Will the window film scratch my case?

An insert or backing card holds the case still so it does not rub against the film.

Can I include a screen protector in the same box?

Yes. A two-section insert holds the case and screen protector separately.

What finish suits colourful, fun case designs?

Gloss lamination or holographic finishes suit bright, trend-led designs.

I sell phone cases at markets most weekends. How far ahead should I order boxes?

Allow three weeks from sending artwork. Boxes are produced in 4 to 7 working days after you approve the free proof and free tracked mainland delivery takes another 2 to 3 working days, which leaves a week for proof changes. Most stallholders reorder when the last carton is opened.
