Custom Ice Cream Cone Sleeves
Custom ice cream cone sleeves are printed paper wraps that slip around a wafer or sugar cone, giving customers something clean to hold while the scoop melts above. For an ice cream parlour they also put your name into every hand that leaves the counter.

What a Cone Sleeve Actually Does
Anyone who has eaten a cone on a warm afternoon knows the problem: the ice cream melts faster than you can eat it, and drips run down onto your fingers. A paper sleeve wrapped around the lower part of the cone catches those drips, absorbs a little moisture and gives a dry place to grip. Children in particular end up far less sticky, which parents notice.
The sleeve also protects the cone itself. Wafer cones are fragile, and a firm paper wrap reduces the chance of a cone cracking when it is handed across a counter or held too tightly. For parlours serving tall double or triple scoops, that extra support is worth having.
And then there is branding. A cone with no sleeve is anonymous once it leaves the shop. A printed sleeve carries your logo down the street, onto the beach and into every photo taken of it. Where the sleeve is the only packaging and a plain wrap will do, the plain paper cone sleeves without print are the cheaper line.
Shapes for Different Cones
Cone sleeves are cut from a flat sheet into a curved fan shape, then rolled into a cone and glued along a seam. The angle of the curve has to match your cone. Classic wafer cones are fairly wide and short; sugar cones are taller and narrower; waffle cones are wider again, with a flared rim. A sleeve made for one will sit badly on another, either gaping at the top or refusing to slide down.
Some parlours use a single sleeve for all their cones, which works if the cones are similar. Others order two shapes: a short sleeve for children's cones and a taller one for the larger waffle cones. The top edge can be straight, scalloped or cut with a wave, and a small tear notch can let customers remove the sleeve as they eat down the cone. The free proof shown as the flat fan shape makes it obvious how the artwork wraps and where the seam falls.

Measuring Your Cones for the Right Fit
Take one of your cones and measure three things: the diameter across the rim, the total height, and the diameter at the point where you want the sleeve to start. Most sleeves cover the lower half to two thirds of the cone, leaving the rim free so the scoop sits on the wafer. If you buy cones from a supplier, their product sheet often lists exact dimensions.
Better still, post us a few cones. Cones vary between manufacturers even when they are sold as the same size, and testing a printed sleeve against the real cone is the surest way to get a snug fit. We cut a plain sample first if you want to check it in your shop before the printed run.
A good sleeve should slide down until it grips, without needing to be forced. Too tight and staff will crack cones; too loose and it slips off when the cone tilts. The clearance rules are the same as in our guide to measuring a product for packaging.
Paper and Print That Handle Melting Ice Cream
Sleeves are usually made from coated paper or light card between around 170 and 250 gsm. Lighter grades roll easily around small cones, while heavier ones hold their shape on larger waffle cones. A grease-resistant or moisture-resistant coating on the inside helps the sleeve cope with drips without going soggy. Food-contact grade paper is available on request.
Print is on the outside in full colour or spot colours. Ice cream branding tends to be bright and cheerful, and pastel colours print well on white paper. A repeating pattern works better than a single large logo, because part of the sleeve is always hidden by the customer's hand. Keep your name large enough to read at arm's length, and repeat it at least twice around the sleeve.
Matt varnish keeps colours soft; gloss varnish makes them pop and resists moisture slightly better. Shops that sell tubs to take home print the same artwork on printed ice cream tubs for take-home.
Getting Sleeves Into Use at the Counter
Sleeves arrive pre-rolled and glued, nested inside each other in stacks. Staff pull one off the stack, drop the cone in, then scoop. Keep a stack beside the cone dispenser so the action becomes part of the same movement. If the parlour is busy, sleeve a batch of cones before the rush and keep them upright in a cone holder.
Pre-rolled sleeves take up more space than flat sheets but save time during service. Flat sleeves that staff roll themselves are cheaper to store but slow things down. For most parlours, pre-rolled is the sensible choice once the queue gets long.
Store unused stacks in a dry cupboard rather than next to the freezer or the sink. Paper picks up moisture from the air in a humid kitchen, and damp sleeves lose their shape and stick together. On hot days, keep only an hour or two of stock at the counter and top it up from the cupboard as the queue moves. A printed cone holder for the counter keeps sleeved cones upright while scoops are added.
Ideas Beyond the Logo
The sleeve is a small canvas that every customer handles, so some parlours use it for more than branding. A short line about your flavours, a social handle, a loyalty stamp message or a colouring panel for children can all fit. Some print a different flavour illustration on each batch, so regulars collect the set.
If you sell from several sites or vans, the sleeve is an easy way to keep the brand consistent. The same printed sleeve appears whether a customer buys a cone from the shop on the seafront or the van at a summer fair.
Matching cups, napkins and spoons in the same colours make the whole serve look deliberate.
Parlours that also serve scoops in tubs can carry the same pattern across tub lids and spoons, so a regular recognises the brand whichever way they order. Vans that run several sites keep the same artwork across the rest of our cone, cup and ice cream packaging.
Post Us Two Cones of Each Type Rather Than Measuring
Cone sleeves are the one product where a sample beats a measurement, because cones from different makers sold as the same size differ by several millimetres at the rim and the sleeve has to be a close fit to stay on. Post two cones of each type you serve, and say which one is the everyday seller, since that is the sleeve to perfect first. If you cannot post, measure the rim diameter, the full height and the diameter 40 mm below the rim. Decide the top edge, straight or scalloped, and whether the sleeve arrives pre-rolled or flat. Parlours that serve scoops in a cup as well match the print on their printed ice cream cups with lids.
Prepare the artwork as a flat fan shape, which the proof provides, with the logo placed where it faces the customer. Email the cone details, shape, quantity and artwork and a custom quote comes back within one working day, followed by a free design proof. Sleeves are made in 4 to 7 working days once approved and delivered free and tracked on the UK mainland in 2 to 3 days. Sleeves that arrive creased or misprinted are reprinted or refunded when reported within 10 days.

Ice Cream Cone Sleeves Questions
What buyers ask before ordering ice cream cone sleeves.
Will one sleeve fit all my cones?
Only if your cones are similar in angle and size. Wafer, sugar and waffle cones have different shapes, so most parlours that serve several types order two sleeve sizes.
Can I send you a cone to measure?
Yes, and we recommend it. Cones vary between suppliers, and testing a sleeve against your actual cone is the best way to be sure of a snug fit.
Do the sleeves go soggy when ice cream drips?
A moisture-resistant inner coating helps the sleeve handle drips for the time it takes to eat a cone. Uncoated paper will soften faster in hot weather.
Do sleeves arrive ready to use?
We supply them pre-rolled and glued, nested in stacks, so staff can drop a cone straight in. Flat sleeves are also available if storage space is tight.
Where should my logo go on a curved sleeve?
Repeat it at least twice around the sleeve, because a hand always covers part of it. A pattern with the name worked in tends to read better than one large logo.
Can the top edge be scalloped?
Yes. Straight, scalloped and wavy edges are all cut with the same die process. Scalloped edges suit traditional parlours; straight edges look cleaner and more modern.
Can I order a small batch for a short season?
Yes. Minimums are set per job and kept low, so summer parlours can order what they expect to use and reorder mid-season if needed.
Is the paper suitable for touching the cone?
The sleeve touches only the outside of the cone, but food-contact grade paper is available on request if you prefer it.
Can children's sleeves have a colouring panel?
Yes. A simple line drawing printed on part of the sleeve gives children something to look at while they eat. It works best on a plain white area.
How long from approving the cone sleeve proof to sleeves at the counter?
Production takes 4 to 7 working days after you approve the free proof, then free tracked UK mainland delivery takes 2 to 3 working days. Seasonal parlours that approve the proof in April usually have sleeves in use by the May bank holiday.
Can I print different designs in the same order?
Yes, splitting a run between two or more artworks is possible. Each design is quoted and proofed separately within the order.
