Custom Heart Chocolate Boxes
Custom heart chocolate boxes say what the chocolates inside are for before anyone reads the card. Shaped lids, fitted trays and a ribbon or foil finish make them the natural choice for anniversaries, weddings, birthdays and every other moment when someone wants to give something with a bit of feeling behind it.

A Shape That Does the Talking
Most chocolate boxes are square or rectangular, which is efficient but neutral. A heart shape carries meaning on its own. It is instantly read as a gift of affection, which is why heart boxes sell steadily all year for anniversaries, engagements, weddings, birthdays and simple thank yous.
For chocolatiers, a heart box widens the range without changing the recipes. The same truffles and pralines sold in a square box become a romantic or celebratory gift in a heart, often at a higher perceived value.
The shape also photographs well. Heart boxes appear often in social media posts, which gives a small chocolate business visibility it would struggle to buy.
A heart box also changes how a customer shops. Someone browsing a chocolate counter for themselves picks by flavour; someone buying a heart is buying a gesture, and is often happy to choose a larger selection or add a ribbon and a card. That makes the format a useful way to lift the average order. The square boxes those same customers buy for themselves are covered on our printed sweet boxes page.
Rigid Hearts and Folding Hearts
Rigid heart boxes are made from greyboard formed into a heart-shaped base and a matching lid, wrapped in paper or fabric. They feel substantial and are kept long after the chocolates are eaten, often for letters, jewellery or keepsakes. They suit premium selections and wedding gifts for the couple or the bridal party.
Folding heart boxes are cut from a single sheet of board and fold into shape with tabs or a pillow-style closure. They are lighter, more economical and arrive flat, which makes them ideal for wedding favours, event giveaways and small selections of two to four chocolates.
Between the two sits the heart-lid box: a standard rigid base with a heart-shaped window or a heart motif on a square lid, a practical compromise when shaped packaging is not essential.
Nested sets, where several hearts of graduating sizes sit inside each other, make an eye-catching window display and give customers a clear choice of small, medium and large without three unrelated designs. A heart-shaped film panel on a square lid is made as one of our sweet boxes with a window.

Trays Cut to Follow the Curve
The insert is where heart boxes become tricky. Chocolates are round or square, the box is curved, and the tray must fill that shape neatly without large gaps around the edge. We lay out cavities to follow the curve of the heart, with smaller spaces near the point and larger ones at the lobes.
Plastic or pulp trays with individual cavities hold truffles and pralines firmly and are most common. Card trays with die-cut holes are a good option for larger, flatter chocolates and suit a more natural look. A paper cup in each cavity adds a traditional confectioner's touch.
Food-contact grade inserts are available on request. Tell us the diameter and height of your chocolates and we will draw a tray layout for the proof.
Leave a little headroom above the chocolates. Decorated tops, gold leaf and piped details are easily marked by a lid that sits too low, and a few millimetres of space keeps them perfect. Our guide to measuring products for an insert covers headroom above decorated tops.
Wraps, Ribbons and Foils
Deep red, blush pink, ivory and gold are the classic heart box colours, but many chocolatiers use their own brand palette to stand apart. A matt black heart with a gold foil logo looks striking; a pale sage or dusky blue suits modern wedding themes.
Soft-touch laminate on a rigid heart gives a velvety feel. Textured papers and fabric wraps such as velvet or satin turn the box into something closer to a keepsake case. A satin ribbon tied around the lid, or fixed underneath it, adds the finishing touch and keeps the lid closed in transit.
Foil stamping a name, a date or a short phrase on the lid makes each box feel personal. Variable printing makes it possible to name individual favours for each wedding guest. The wrap papers and foil finishes page shows velvet and satin wraps beside printed paper.
Weddings, Anniversaries and Corporate Gifts
Wedding planners and couples order small folding hearts as favours, often with two chocolates and the couple's initials on the lid. Larger rigid hearts are given to parents, the wedding party or each other on the morning of the day. Two-chocolate favours in other shapes are listed under favour boxes for sweets.
Anniversary gifting is the steady trade: florists add a heart of chocolates to a bouquet order, and online gift shops sell heart boxes as an add-on at checkout. Hotels place small heart boxes in rooms for honeymoon and anniversary bookings.
Corporate clients use heart boxes for staff appreciation and customer thank yous, especially businesses whose brand leans warm and personal, such as florists, wedding venues and beauty salons.
Keeping Chocolates in Good Condition
Chocolate dislikes warmth, light and strong smells. A closed heart box blocks light, and a snug tray stops pieces rubbing together and scuffing their finish. For postal orders, place the heart box inside an insulated or padded outer carton during warm weather.
Allergen and ingredient information needs to accompany pre-packed chocolates. A printed label on the base, or a small card inside the lid, keeps the front design clean while meeting your labelling obligations.
Shelf life and storage advice belong on the box too. A short line such as store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight helps the recipient enjoy the chocolates at their best, and reflects well on the maker.
If the box is likely to be kept, consider a removable tray. Once the chocolates are gone, the recipient can lift the tray out and use the heart for jewellery or keepsakes, which keeps your logo on a dressing table for years.
Count the Chocolates, Then Pick Rigid or Folding
A heart box is drawn from the tray outwards, so the first thing to settle is how many chocolates it holds and how big each one is, measured across the widest point and to the top of any decoration. Six truffles fit the 120 mm small heart; a dozen need the 180 mm medium. Then choose the build by the occasion: folding hearts for favours and small gifts, rigid hearts for a keepsake the recipient will keep for jewellery. For a wedding, add a few spares to the guest count.
Say if names or dates go on the lids. Send the count, chocolate size, build, colours and quantity, and a custom quote comes back by email within one working day, with folding hearts from £0.25 and low minimums quoted per job. The free proof shows the tray layout and the lid. Production takes 4–7 working days after approval and tracked delivery to UK mainland addresses is free, taking 2–3 working days. Misprinted or damaged boxes reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded. Boiled sweets and fudge for the same occasion go in heart-shaped boxes for sweets with a shallower tray.

Heart Chocolate Boxes Questions
What buyers ask before ordering heart chocolate boxes.
Is a rigid or folding heart better for wedding favours?
Folding hearts are usually best for favours. They are lighter, cost less and arrive flat. Rigid hearts suit larger gifts for the couple or wedding party.
How do you fit round chocolates into a heart?
We draw the tray layout to follow the curve, with smaller cavities towards the point. You see the layout on the proof before production.
Can each favour box show a guest's name?
Yes. Variable printing lets every box carry a different name or table number while sharing the same design.
Does a matt black heart hide fingerprints on a shop counter?
Better than gloss, and a soft-touch laminate hides them better still, which is why black hearts are usually finished that way. A gold foil logo keeps the lid from looking plain. Ivory and sage hearts show marks less in the first place.
Will the lid stay on during delivery?
A ribbon tied around the box or a well-fitted rigid lid keeps it closed. For courier orders, use an outer carton.
Are the trays suitable for chocolate contact?
Food-contact grade trays and inserts are available on request. Mention it with your quote and we will confirm options.
Can a florist add a heart box to bouquets?
Yes. Small rigid or folding hearts tuck neatly into a bouquet box or tie to a stem wrap with ribbon.
Can you make two-layer heart boxes?
Yes. A double tray with a separator sheet doubles the selection while keeping the heart footprint.
How far ahead should I order for a wedding?
Allow for the free proof, then 4 to 7 working days of production and 2 to 3 working days for free tracked UK mainland delivery. Ordering several weeks ahead leaves time to fill the boxes calmly.
How should chocolates be posted in warm weather?
Place the heart box in an insulated or padded outer carton and use a fast delivery service. Ribbon tied around the lid keeps it closed if the parcel is tipped.
Can the allergen text go on a base label rather than the printed lid?
Yes, and most chocolatiers do exactly that so the lid stays clean. A printed label on the base or a small card inside the lid carries ingredients, allergens and storage advice. Leave a plain patch on the base so the label sits flat.
