Custom Croissant Boxes

from £0.25 a boxPriced per job · low minimums

Custom croissant boxes keep flaky pastry whole on the way home, show off the golden layers through a window and carry your bakery's name to the breakfast table. We make them for single croissants, boxes of four or six and mixed viennoiserie, in board that copes with butter.

Pastry That Deserves Better Than a Paper Bag

A good croissant is fragile by design. The layers that make it shatter beautifully when bitten also crush easily under the weight of a shopping bag or a second croissant stacked on top. A paper bag is fine for one eaten on the walk to work, but for a box of six bought for a family breakfast, an office meeting or a weekend guest, the pastries arrive flattened and the flakes end up everywhere.

A rigid card box keeps each croissant in shape. It also stops butter from marking a customer's car seat or handbag, and it gives the bakery a proper moment of presentation when the lid lifts. For artisan bakeries that charge a fair price for laminated dough made over two days, that moment matters.

Boxes also make larger orders easier. Café owners can line up pre-packed boxes for quick collection, and customers buying for a group can carry them home stacked without fear of damage. Bakeries that sell a wider cabinet often match them to our printed pastry boxes for mixed selections.

Styles of Croissant Boxes

The right format depends on how many pastries you sell together and whether the customer will see them before buying. A window version is shown on our bakery boxes with a clear window page.

  • Single croissant box: a low, wide box with a window, often used for an almond croissant or a filled pastry sold as a treat.
  • Box of four or six: a larger tray with a window lid or a separate lid, the classic weekend breakfast order.
  • Tray and sleeve: an open card tray slides into a printed sleeve, leaving the ends open to show the pastries.
  • Box with dividers: card partitions keep each pastry separate, useful for mixed boxes with pain au chocolat and pain aux raisins.
  • Gable box with handle: a carry handle on top for takeaway orders and gifts, popular for breakfast deliveries.

Sizing Custom Croissant Boxes

Croissants vary more than most bakery items. A classic butter croissant curves into a crescent, a straight croissant is longer, and a filled or twice-baked almond croissant can be much fuller. Measure your largest bake on a typical day, including its widest point and height, then allow a few millimetres so it can be lifted out without catching.

For multiples, decide how they should sit. Pastries laid side by side in a single layer always look better than stacked ones and travel more safely. A box of six in two rows of three is the most common layout. If you sell mixed viennoiserie, size for the largest item so every box fits whatever is in the cabinet that day.

Height deserves attention because croissants rise unevenly. Too low and the lid presses on the tallest pastry; too high and the box looks empty. A plain sample tested with a real batch answers the question quickly.

Remember that customers often carry a box flat in one hand. A slightly stiffer base stops the box bowing and the pastries sliding together in the middle. Our measuring guide for custom boxes explains how to allow for uneven items.

Board, Butter and Windows

Croissants are rich in butter, and butter migrates into plain card, leaving dark marks that look untidy within minutes. We use board with a grease-resistant coating on the inside, and food-contact grade board is available on request, which we suggest for any box where the pastry sits directly on the card.

Kraft board is the favourite of artisan bakeries for its warm, rustic look, and it hides small marks well. White board shows colourful branding brightly and suits patisseries with a more polished style. A window of clear film in the lid lets customers see the golden layers without opening the box, which is especially useful for grab-and-go shelves.

If the pastries go into the box warm, add small vent holes to release steam. Trapped steam softens the crisp outer layers, and a few small cut-outs make a noticeable difference. Board grades are described on our board and finish page.

Hotel Breakfasts, Cafes and Catering

Bakeries are the main buyers, but they are not the only ones. Hotels use croissant boxes for breakfast in the room and for grab-and-go breakfasts for guests leaving early. Cafes use them for takeaway pastry orders and for collections booked online. Office caterers deliver boxed pastries to meetings, where a branded box tells everyone where breakfast came from.

Coffee shops that buy in pastries from a wholesale bakery also order their own printed boxes, so the customer sees the cafe's brand rather than plain packaging. Farm shops and delis do the same for weekend bakes.

Event caterers serving breakfast at conferences or weddings often use the tray and sleeve style. Trays stack in a van without crushing, the sleeves slide off at the venue, and the pastries are set out on the buffet still in their trays, which keeps the table tidy and makes clearing up quicker afterwards. Caterers who deliver bigger breakfast orders use our bakery boxes with carry handles.

Designing the Print

Keep the lid simple. Your logo, a short line such as baked this morning, and perhaps a pattern around the window is enough. The pastry itself is the star, and too much print competes with it. On kraft board, one colour in black, deep green or burgundy looks classic and keeps costs low.

Side panels are useful for a website, social handle or a note about ordering in advance. If you run a click and collect service, a sticker with the customer's name and order time on the lid end saves staff searching through identical boxes.

If you sell into hotels or cafes as a wholesale bakery, consider a neutral box design with space for the client's sticker, so one stock of boxes serves several customers.

Ask for a sample of the board before you finalise colours, because inks look different on kraft and white. You can preview a one-colour logo on kraft in Design Your Box before you commit.

Croissant Boxes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering croissant boxes.

Will butter mark the box?

We use board with a grease-resistant inner coating so butter does not soak through to the outside. It keeps the box looking clean for the journey home.

Can croissants go into the box while warm?

Yes, but trapped steam softens the crisp layers. We can add small vent holes so the pastries stay flakier.

What size box holds six croissants?

For standard croissants laid in two rows of three, a box around 320 x 220 mm is typical. Send us your largest bake and we will confirm the size.

Do you make boxes for a single almond croissant?

Yes, a single pastry box with a window is popular for filled and twice-baked croissants sold as an individual treat.

Is the board suitable for food contact?

Food-contact grade board is available on request, and we recommend it when pastries sit directly on the card.

Can I mix pastries in one box?

Yes. Card dividers keep different pastries separate, and sizing for your largest item means one box suits any mix.

Should I choose kraft or white board?

Kraft suits artisan bakeries and hides small marks. White board shows colourful branding brightly and suits a more polished patisserie style.

Can a wholesale bakery supply boxes to cafes?

Yes. Many wholesale bakeries choose a neutral box with space for the cafe's own sticker, so one stock works for several customers.

How long does a croissant box order take?

Production takes 4 to 7 working days from proof approval, then free tracked UK mainland delivery takes 2 to 3 working days.

How much do croissant boxes cost?

Simple printed bakery boxes start from £0.25 each. Your custom quote, sent by email within one working day, will reflect the size, window and print.

What if the boxes arrive crushed?

Tell us within 10 days with a photo and we will reprint or refund them.
