The Small Business Packaging Workhorse

Ask any small online shop which branded item they use most and the answer is often a round sticker. It seals the fold of tissue paper inside a mailer box, closes a paper bag at the counter, brands a plain kraft box, labels a jar lid or tops a takeaway cup. A single design does all of those jobs, which makes circle stickers the most flexible and affordable way to put a logo on everything you send out.

The round shape helps. Circles have no corners to lift or catch, they look tidy at any angle and they fit neatly onto lids, caps and curved surfaces where a rectangle would wrinkle. A circle also frames a logo naturally, especially one that is already round or square.

Because they are so cheap per piece, circle stickers also let a new business look established from day one. Before you can justify printed boxes or bags, a logo sticker on plain stock packaging gives every order a consistent, branded finish. As the business grows, the same sticker design can move onto printed packaging as a seal or accent.

Choosing a Diameter

Size depends on the job. A 25 to 30 mm circle is ideal for sealing tissue paper, closing envelopes or labelling small jars. A 40 to 50 mm circle is the most popular all-rounder for branding mailer boxes, bags and lids. Larger circles of 60 to 100 mm carry more information, such as a product name, ingredients summary or a thank-you message, and suit jar tops, tins and the front of a box.

If you are unsure, cut circles of paper in a few sizes, stick them on your packaging and look at them from arm's length. The size that reads clearly without dominating the pack is usually the right one. p1 If the sticker carries a lot of text, a square sticker with more room may suit better than a large circle.

  • 40 to 50 mm: everyday logo stickers for boxes and bags
  • 60 to 75 mm: jar lids, tins and product labels

Custom Circle Stickers on Different Materials

Paper stickers are the most economical choice and come in matte, gloss or uncoated finishes. They suit sealing tissue and dry packaging that will not be handled much. Uncoated paper is easy to write on, handy for date labels or handwritten flavour names.

Vinyl stickers are tougher and resist water, oil and handling. Choose vinyl for products that go in the fridge, the bathroom or the hand: candle lids, cosmetic jars, water bottles and anything that might get wet. Kraft paper stickers give a natural, handmade look that pairs well with kraft boxes and brown bags. Clear stickers let the surface underneath show through around your logo, and metallic gold or silver stock adds a luxurious touch. p1 Clear and metallic stocks are shown on our vinyl stickers page.

Sheets or Rolls

Stickers on sheets are easy to store, peel and apply by hand. They suit small shops, market stalls and anyone applying a few dozen stickers a day. Kiss-cut sheets leave the backing whole, so stickers peel cleanly one at a time.

Rolls are faster for higher volumes. Stickers sit in a long line on a backing strip that can be fed into a dispenser or simply unrolled on a packing bench. If you pack many orders a day, rolls save time and keep stickers tidy. If you use a labelling machine, tell us the core size and the direction the stickers should come off the roll.

Think about storage as well. Sheets lie flat in a drawer and are easy to count, while rolls are compact and dispense quickly but can curl if stored in a warm spot. Keep both away from direct sunlight and heat so the adhesive stays at its best. p2 Dispenser rolls are covered in more detail on our die-cut labels on rolls page.

Designing for a Circle

Good circle stickers are simple. A logo centred in the circle, perhaps with your name or website curving around the edge, is a classic layout. Keep text large enough to read at the size you choose; very small type on a 30 mm sticker becomes a blur. Leave a margin inside the edge so nothing important gets trimmed.

Colour can do a lot of work. A solid brand colour background with a white logo reads strongly from a distance. A white or kraft background with a single colour logo looks clean and calm. Some brands print several colourways of the same design, using a different colour for each product or scent.

Before ordering, print your design at actual size on ordinary paper, cut it out and place it on your packaging. It is the quickest way to check that your logo is legible and the colours work against the surface it will sit on. p2 Brands with a round logo often start from our logo stickers cut to shape.

Ideas Beyond Sealing Boxes

Circle stickers have many uses beyond packaging. Cafés put them on cup lids and cake boxes. Candle makers use them on jar lids with the scent name. Clothing brands seal swing tags and garment bags. Event organisers use them as dot labels for name badges or colour-coded tickets. Market traders mark prices or best-before dates on handmade goods.

A small thank-you sticker tucked into each order, or a sticker with a social handle, also invites customers to share their purchase. It is a low-cost way to turn an order into a recommendation.

Cut a Paper Circle and Stick It on the Bag First

Before you order circle stickers, cut three circles of plain paper at 30, 40 and 50 mm, draw your logo on each and stick them on the bag, box or jar they will seal. One will read clearly without dominating the pack, and that is the diameter to order. It takes five minutes and avoids the usual second order for a bigger size.

Decide the material from where the sticker lives: paper for tissue and dry boxes, vinyl for jars, candles and anything that gets wet, kraft for brown packaging. Say sheets or rolls too, and if you use a dispenser, give its core size. The custom quote arrives by email within one working day, from £0.25 for a sheet of plain paper stickers, with the minimum set per job.

The free proof shows the sticker at actual size, which is where small type gets caught. Printing and cutting take 4 to 7 working days after approval, and the stickers reach UK mainland addresses by free tracked delivery. Shops that seal every parcel with a message often add our thank-you stickers for parcels in a matching colour.

Circle Stickers Questions

What buyers ask before ordering circle stickers.

What size circle sticker should I order?

For tissue seals, 25 to 30 mm works well. For branding boxes and bags, 40 to 50 mm is the most popular. Use larger sizes for jar lids or product labels.

Paper or vinyl?

Paper suits dry packaging and is economical. Vinyl resists water and handling, so choose it for jars, candles and bathroom products.

Can I write a date or flavour on a circle sticker by hand?

Yes, on uncoated paper stock, which takes a biro or marker without smudging. Matt vinyl takes a permanent marker; gloss finishes do not take pen well, so choose uncoated if you add dates or flavour names by hand.

Should a small shop order circle stickers on sheets or on rolls?

Sheets, if you apply a few dozen a day by hand, because they lie flat in a drawer and peel one at a time. Rolls suit a packing bench doing fifty or more parcels a day, or a dispenser. Many shops start on sheets and move to rolls as orders grow.

Can one order of circle stickers include several scent or colour versions?

Yes. Many shops print the same layout in four or five colourways, one per product or scent, within one order. Each version is proofed separately and the quantities can differ.

Will the stickers stick to kraft boxes?

Yes. Our adhesive bonds well to kraft and textured card. Ask for a stronger adhesive for very rough surfaces.

Are clear stickers available?

Yes. Clear vinyl lets the surface show through, and we can print white ink behind colours to keep them bright.

Can stickers be removable?

Yes, a removable adhesive is available for price labels and items customers may want to peel. It holds firmly but lifts without leaving residue on card or glass.

Do you make metallic stickers?

Yes. Gold and silver stock gives a premium look, especially for seals.

Can the stickers go in the fridge?

Vinyl stickers cope with chilled conditions and condensation better than paper. Paper labels can wrinkle once a cold jar sweats.

How small can text be?

Keep text large enough to read at arm's length. The proof shows your sticker at actual size so you can check.
