Custom Bakhoor Boxes
Bakhoor is often given as a gift, presented in a jar or tin that sits inside an ornate box worthy of the fragrance it holds. Our custom bakhoor boxes combine rich print, foil and embossing with a fitted insert for the jar, so oud chips and incense blends reach the customer looking as precious as they smell.

Packaging a Fragrance You Burn
Bakhoor is a blend of wood chips, usually agarwood or sandalwood, soaked in fragrant oils, resins and perfumes, then dried and burned on charcoal or an electric burner. It has a long tradition across the Arabian Peninsula and the wider Muslim world, where it is used to scent homes, clothing and hair, and to welcome guests.
Because bakhoor is treated as a luxury, its packaging is often as elaborate as a perfume box. Customers expect rich colours, gold detailing and a satisfying weight in the hand. A plain jar in a plain carton feels wrong for a product that can be expensive and is frequently bought as a present.
At the same time, the packaging has practical jobs. Bakhoor chips are oily and fragrant, the jar is often glass or metal, and the scent can leach into poor-quality board over time. The box must hold the container firmly, resist marking from oils and keep the fragrance where it belongs.
Jar Inserts and Container Fit
Bakhoor is sold in many containers: round glass jars with metal lids, ornate metal tins, wooden boxes, and simple plastic tubs for everyday blends. The insert inside the box is designed around whichever you use. A round cut-out in foam or card holds a jar upright; a shaped recess holds an ornate tin. For gift sets, the insert may also hold a burner, a pair of tongs or a small bottle of perfume oil.
Velvet-covered or satin-lined inserts give the most luxurious feel and protect polished metal and glass from scratches. Card inserts wrapped in printed paper match the outer box and cost less. For larger runs of everyday blends, a simple folded card collar is enough to stop the jar moving.
Measure the container at its widest point and its full height including the lid, and send a photo if the shape is unusual. Lids with domes, finials or decorative knobs need extra headroom. Heavy metal tins also deserve a firmer insert than light glass jars, because their weight can tear a thin card collar if the box is dropped or carried on its side in a shopping bag.
- Single jar box: one bakhoor jar on a velvet cushion
- Jar and burner set: jar beside a small electric or charcoal burner
- Collection box: two to four small jars of different blends

Ornate Design for Bakhoor Boxes
Bakhoor packaging draws on a rich visual tradition. Geometric patterns, arabesques, calligraphy and architectural motifs such as arches and lattice screens all appear frequently. Deep colours like burgundy, emerald, royal blue and black make a strong background, with gold or rose gold foil for the patterns and the brand name.
Arabic and English text often appear together. Arabic calligraphy for the blend name can be beautiful as a design element, while English text carries product information for UK customers. We can set both scripts, but please supply the Arabic text exactly as it should appear, ideally checked by a native reader, and confirm it again on the proof.
Embossing the pattern or logo adds a raised feel that customers notice when they pick the box up. Combined with foil, it gives the jewel-box quality many fragrance houses aim for. A soft-touch laminate on the base colour lifts the foil even more.
Box Styles for Fragrance Houses
Rigid boxes are the most popular for premium bakhoor. A two-piece lid and base box suits a single jar. A hinged box with a magnetic catch adds ceremony and keeps the lid attached, which customers appreciate because many keep the box for storing incense afterwards. Book-style boxes, opening like a cover, suit gift sets and collections.
For everyday blends sold in large numbers, a folding carton with a printed design and a card insert keeps costs reasonable. Cylinder boxes and hexagonal boxes are also popular, echoing the shape of traditional incense containers and standing out on a shelf.
Drawer boxes, where the tray slides out of a sleeve, give a lovely reveal and suit high-end blends. A tassel or ribbon pull in a matching colour completes the look.
Keeping the Fragrance In
Bakhoor's scent is strong, and over time it can transfer to the box and to anything stored nearby. The container itself should be airtight, but the box can help. A coated or laminated board resists oil marks and holds less fragrance than uncoated paper. Lining the insert with satin or a film also helps keep oils off the board.
If you sell several blends, the boxes may be stored together in a shop or a warehouse. Keeping each jar sealed and boxed prevents blends picking up each other's scent. Some brands add a shrink film around the jar or a seal sticker over the lid for this reason, and it also shows customers the product has not been opened.
Gift Sets and Collections
Bakhoor is a popular gift for weddings, house visits and family occasions, and gift sets are a large part of many fragrance houses' sales. A collection box holding several small jars lets customers try different blends. A set pairing bakhoor with a burner is a complete gift for someone new to the tradition.
For these sets, the insert layout and the inside of the lid matter as much as the outside. A printed message, a short description of each blend or instructions for burning bakhoor add value. A matching carrier bag completes the gift and keeps your branding visible as the customer leaves the shop.

Bakhoor Boxes Questions
What buyers ask before ordering bakhoor boxes.
Can you print Arabic text on bakhoor boxes?
Yes. Please supply the Arabic text exactly as it should appear, ideally checked by a native reader. We set it as supplied and you confirm it on the free proof.
Will the box absorb the bakhoor scent?
A coated or laminated board resists oils and absorbs less fragrance than uncoated paper. Keeping the jar sealed inside the box also helps.
Can the insert hold a jar and a burner?
Yes. We design the insert with separate cut-outs for each item. Send us the measurements of the jar and burner.
Which finishes give an ornate look?
Gold or rose gold foil on a deep colour, combined with embossing, is the classic choice. A soft-touch laminate gives the foil more contrast.
Can you make a box for several blends?
Yes. A collection box holds two to four small jars in a single insert. It is a popular way to let customers try different blends.
What if my jar has a tall decorative lid?
Measure the full height including the lid and any finial. We add enough headroom so the box closes without pressing on it.
Can I add a tassel to the box?
Yes. Tassels and ribbon pulls in matching colours suit drawer boxes and hinged boxes, adding a traditional touch.
Are rigid bakhoor boxes suitable for posting?
They are sturdy, but for courier delivery we recommend packing them in a mailer box to protect the foil and corners.
How long will my bakhoor boxes take?
Allow four to seven working days after approving the proof, and then two to three working days for free tracked UK mainland delivery.
Can I order matching carrier bags?
Yes. Matching paper carrier bags with the same design and foil complete the gift and keep your branding visible.
What is the minimum order?
Minimums are low and set per job. Your custom quote shows the minimum for your chosen style and finish.
