Branded Candle Boxes
Branded candle boxes carry your colours, logo and story across every panel, so a candle looks like part of a range rather than a single product in a plain carton. We print them to fit your jars and tins, add inserts that keep glass safe, and send a free design proof before any board is printed.

When a Plain Box Stops Being Enough
Most candle makers start with plain kraft boxes and a sticker, and for a while that works perfectly. It is affordable, it looks handmade, and it lets you change scents without changing packaging. The trouble starts when the business grows. A stockist asks for retail-ready packaging, a gift shop wants the range to look coordinated on the shelf, or you notice your candles look identical to everyone else's at a market.
That is the point at which a branded box earns its keep. Printing your colours, typography and story across the whole box turns the packaging into part of the product. Customers recognise your range from across a shop, and the box itself becomes something people keep or photograph rather than throw away.
Branded packaging also lets a candle compete on price. Two candles with similar wax and similar fragrance can sell at very different prices depending on how they are presented, and the box is usually the biggest single factor in that first impression.
Building a Brand Look Across a Candle Range
The best candle brands treat their boxes as a system rather than a set of separate designs. One approach is to keep the layout, logo and typeface identical on every box and change only a colour panel or illustration per scent. Shelves then look calm and consistent, while customers can still pick out their favourite at a glance.
Another approach uses a single printed box for the whole range, with a printed scent label or belly band added at packing. This keeps printing simple and suits makers who launch new scents often. A third option, often used by gift brands, gives each collection its own complete design, while the logo and box shape stay constant.
Whichever route you take, decide where the scent name, burn time and weight will appear before you design anything. These details need a consistent home on every box so customers and shop staff can find them quickly.

Choosing Board and Box Style for Branded Candle Boxes
For most jar and tin candles, a tuck end carton in sturdy folding board is the practical choice. It arrives flat, folds quickly and prints beautifully. A crash-lock base speeds up packing for larger jars and holds heavier glass more securely than a simple tuck base.
Premium ranges often move to rigid boxes with a lift-off lid or a magnetic flap. These feel substantial and suit gift sets, large multi-wick candles and limited editions. Sleeve and drawer boxes are another favourite, as the slide-out tray makes the reveal part of the experience.
Kraft board suits brands with a natural, botanical feel. White board gives the cleanest result for bold colours and photography. Black board with foil is a classic for luxury candles, especially those in dark or amber glass.
- Tuck end carton: everyday retail and online orders
- Crash-lock base carton: heavier jars and faster packing
- Sleeve and drawer: gift collections and travel candles
- Rigid lid and base or magnetic box: premium candles and sets
Protecting Glass in Transit and on the Shelf
Glass jars are heavy and slippery, and a candle that moves around inside its box will chip or crack the first time the parcel is dropped. A card insert with a circular cut-out holds the jar centred and stops it touching the walls. For lids made of wood or metal, a second layer of insert can hold the lid firmly in place.
If you sell mostly online, consider double protection: the printed box with its insert, packed inside a plain shipping carton with some fill. The printed box arrives clean and uncrushed, ready for the customer to give as a gift.
Measure the jar at its widest point, including any lip or rim, and the height with the lid on. We size the box to those measurements with a small tolerance, so the jar slides in easily but cannot rattle.
Print Finishes Candle Buyers Notice
Candles are bought by touch as much as by sight. Shoppers pick up the box, feel the surface and often turn it over before smelling the candle itself. Soft touch lamination gives a velvety feel that suits calm, spa-style brands. Uncoated board feels natural and works well with earthy palettes.
Foil stamping on the logo or scent name catches shop lighting and makes the box look more expensive. Gold and copper foil suit warm, cosy fragrances, while silver and holographic foil suit fresh or modern scents. Embossing adds a raised texture that customers notice under their fingers.
Use one or two premium touches rather than all of them. A clean box with a single foil logo often looks more confident than one with every effect applied.
Information Every Candle Box Should Carry
Beyond branding, candle boxes carry practical information. Customers expect to see the scent name, the weight of wax and an approximate burn time. Many brands add fragrance notes, a short story about the scent and care instructions for the first burn.
Candles also carry safety information and, depending on the fragrance oils used, labelling that your supplier or compliance adviser will specify. Leave a dedicated panel for this text, usually on the base or back, so it does not compete with your design. We can print it directly on the box or leave space for a label applied at packing.
A barcode on the base is worth including if you plan to sell through shops, even if you do not need it yet.
Ordering Branded Boxes for Your Range
Send us your jar sizes, the number of scents and your preferred style, and we will reply with a custom quote by email within one working day. Minimums are quoted per job, and several scent designs can often run together on one order to keep costs down. Smaller tuck end boxes can start from £0.25 each depending on quantity and finish.
A free design proof shows every panel before production. When you approve it, printing and cutting take 4–7 working days, and your boxes arrive flat by free tracked delivery to UK mainland addresses within 2–3 working days. If anything is misprinted or damaged on arrival, flag it within 10 days and we will put it right with a reprint or refund.
If you are moving from plain boxes, a sensible first order covers your two or three best sellers. Live with the new packaging for a few weeks, see how stockists and customers respond, then roll the design across the rest of the range.

Branded Candle Boxes Questions
What buyers ask before ordering branded candle boxes.
Should every scent have its own branded box design?
Not necessarily. Many brands use one design with a colour panel or label that changes per scent, which keeps printing simple and the range consistent.
What box style is best for heavy glass candle jars?
A crash-lock base carton or a rigid box holds heavy jars securely. Add a card insert with a cut-out so the jar cannot move.
Can a branded candle box be posted without an outer box?
It can for short journeys, but we recommend an outer shipping carton for online orders so the printed box arrives in perfect condition.
Which finish feels most premium on a candle box?
Soft touch lamination with a foil logo is the most popular premium combination. Uncoated board with embossing suits natural brands.
How do I measure my jar for the right box?
Measure the widest point, including any rim, and the height with the lid on. We add a small tolerance so the jar slides in easily but stays snug.
Can safety text be printed on the box?
Yes. We will place the text your compliance adviser specifies on a dedicated panel, or leave space for a label.
Can I order several scent designs on one order?
Usually yes, and running them together keeps costs lower. List each design when you request a custom quote.
Is a rigid box worth it for a candle brand?
Rigid boxes suit gift sets, large candles and limited editions where the box adds to the price. Folding cartons are more practical for everyday lines.
Can the box hold a wooden lid in place?
A second insert layer can hold a wooden or metal lid so it does not rub against the jar or slide off in transit.
Can I keep plain stock for new scents while the branded boxes are printed?
Many makers do exactly that, using a plain box with a sticker for a trial scent. Once the scent proves popular, it moves into the branded range on the next print run.
What if the foil is misaligned on some boxes?
Photograph a few of the affected boxes and send them to us within 10 days of delivery. Misregistered foil is a print fault, so we reprint those boxes or refund them.
