Custom Powder Paper Tubes

from £0.25 a tubePriced per job · low minimums

Loose powders are messy to package: they find every gap, cling to lids and spill the moment a container tips. Our custom powder paper tubes combine a lined card tube with a sifter or shaker top, so dry shampoo, body powder, bath soak and supplement blends dispense neatly and look smart on a shelf.

Why Brands Pick a Paper Tube for Powder

Powders have traditionally been sold in plastic shakers and tins. Paper tubes offer a different look and feel. The cylindrical shape is comfortable to hold, and the printed surface wraps all the way round, giving plenty of space for branding and information. Many small cosmetic and wellness brands choose paper tubes because they feel crafted and distinctive compared with standard plastic bottles.

A paper tube is made from layers of card wound into a cylinder. For powders, the inside is lined with a coated paper or foil layer that stops fine particles working into the card and helps keep moisture out. The tube is closed at the base with a card or metal end and at the top with a lid, which may include a sifter.

The result is a container that is light, strong and pleasant to use, and that stands out on a bathroom shelf or in a gift box. The same construction runs across our custom printed paper tubes.

Sifter Tops and Closures

The top of a powder tube decides how the powder comes out. A sifter is a perforated disc or cap that lets powder shake out in a controlled way. The size and number of holes can be chosen to suit the powder: fine talc-type powders need small holes, while coarser blends, such as bath soaks or clay masks, need larger openings.

Many sifters have a rotating cap that opens and closes the holes, so the powder does not leak when the tube is in a bag. Others use a simple lift-off lid over a fixed sifter. For powders that are scooped rather than shaken, such as protein or greens blends, a plain lid with an inner seal and a scoop inside is the better choice. For solid sticks and balms rather than loose powder, push-up paper tubes are the usual choice.

  • Fine sifter: dry shampoo, body powder, setting powder
  • Medium sifter: tooth powder, spice blends, foot powder
  • Large holes: bath soaks, clay masks, coarse salts
  • Plain lid with seal: protein, collagen and greens powders
  • Rotating cap: travel-friendly tubes that close fully

Linings and Keeping Powder Dry

Powder and moisture do not mix. Damp air causes many powders to clump, and an unlined card tube can absorb moisture from the air. A lined interior acts as a barrier. Foil linings give the strongest protection and suit hygroscopic powders that draw in water. Coated paper linings are lighter and suit powders that are less sensitive.

An inner seal under the lid, such as a peelable foil membrane, keeps the powder fresh and shows the customer that the tube has not been opened. That reassurance matters for supplements and cosmetics alike. Once opened, the sifter or lid keeps the powder contained, but customers should store the tube in a dry place.

If your powder is particularly sensitive, tell us what it is and how long it should stay fresh, and we will suggest a lining. Food-contact grade lining can be specified on request for powders that are eaten or drunk. Tea, coffee and other dry foods can also go in paper tubes made for food.

Sizing Powder Paper Tubes

Tube size is described by diameter and height. To work out the right size, think about the weight of powder per tube and its density. Light, fluffy powders such as dry shampoo take up much more space per gram than dense powders such as clay or salt. The easiest approach is to fill a measuring jug with the amount you want to sell and measure the volume, then choose a tube with a little extra headroom.

Most powder tubes for cosmetics are fairly slim, around 40 to 55 mm in diameter, which fits comfortably in the hand for shaking. Supplement powders sold in larger quantities use wider tubes, often 75 to 100 mm across, so a scoop fits inside. Travel sizes can be very small, perhaps 30 mm across and 80 mm tall. Remember that powder settles in transit, so a tube filled to the brim at the packing bench may look a little short of full when the customer opens it. Saying the net weight clearly on the wrap avoids any feeling of being short-changed. Wider, shorter containers for creams and scrubs are covered by paper jar style tubes.

Printing the Tube Wrap

The outer layer of the tube is a printed paper wrap that goes all the way round. This gives you a continuous canvas, so designs can flow around the tube rather than being broken into panels. Many brands put the logo and product name on the front, with ingredients, directions and legal information around the back.

Full colour printing suits illustrated and photographic designs, while one or two colours on kraft paper gives a natural, apothecary look. Foil, embossing and soft-touch laminate all work on tube wraps and add a premium feel. The lid can be printed or left in a contrasting colour, and the sifter can be white, black, silver or kraft.

Because the tube is round, text near the edges of the front panel curves away from view. Keep key information within the central part of each panel so it is easy to read.

Products That Suit a Powder Tube

Paper powder tubes are used across cosmetics, personal care, food and wellness. Cosmetic brands use them for dry shampoo, setting powder, body powder and baby powder alternatives. Natural personal care brands use them for tooth powder, foot powder and deodorant powders. Bath brands use them for bath soaks and milk baths.

In food and wellness, they hold protein blends, collagen, matcha, hot chocolate, spice mixes and seasoning. Pet care brands use them for flea powders and grooming powders. If you sell a powder that is not on this list, it will very likely still work in a paper tube with the right lining and top. Our tubes and canisters range has more shapes if your powder needs something different.

Powder Paper Tubes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering powder paper tubes.

Will powder leak through the sifter in transit?

A rotating sifter cap that closes fully, or an inner foil seal, stops leaks in transit. The seal is peeled off by the customer before first use.

Which hole size should I choose for the sifter?

Fine powders need small holes, while coarser blends such as bath soaks need larger openings. Tell us what your powder is and we will suggest a size.

Will damp air make the powder clump?

A foil lining gives strong protection against moisture. For less sensitive powders, a coated paper lining is usually enough.

Can I put a scoop inside the tube?

Yes. For protein and other scooped powders, we use a wider tube with a plain lid so a scoop fits inside.

How do I work out the tube size?

Measure the volume of the amount you want to sell, then choose a tube with a little extra headroom. Fluffy powders need much more space per gram than dense ones.

Can the lid be a different colour from the tube?

Yes. Contrasting lids and sifters are popular. Lids can be printed, and sifters come in white, black, silver or kraft.

Can I use a powder tube for food?

Yes, for products such as hot chocolate, spice blends and supplements. Food-contact grade lining is available on request.

Where should I put the ingredients on a round tube?

Around the back of the tube, away from the logo. Keep important text within the central part of each panel so it does not curve out of view.

How long will my powder tubes take?

Production runs four to seven working days after proof approval, then free tracked UK mainland delivery takes two to three working days.

Can I order a small first run?

Yes. Minimums are set per job and kept low, so you can launch with a modest quantity.
