Custom Pyramid Boxes

from £0.25 a boxPriced per job · low minimums

Custom pyramid boxes fold from a single sheet of card into a neat four-sided point, usually gathered at the top with a ribbon or a card tab. They hold sweets, jewellery or a small keepsake and look like a little gift before anyone has seen what is inside.

Why Pyramid Boxes Work for Favours

A favour box has one job: to look charming on a table setting and survive the journey home in a coat pocket or handbag. Pyramid boxes do this unusually well. Their pointed shape stands out among plates and glasses, and because the four sides draw together at the top, they close securely without glue or tape.

They are also forgiving for the person assembling them. A wedding party or a small business owner packing a few hundred favours needs something that folds quickly and consistently. A pyramid blank has a square base and four triangular sides; the sides lift, meet at the top and are held by a ribbon threaded through punched holes, or by interlocking card tabs. Most people get the hang of it after two or three.

Finally, the shape gives four printable faces that each catch the eye from a different angle. Names, a monogram, a logo or a pattern can wrap all the way around.

Closures: Ribbon, Tab or Window

How the top closes changes the look and the packing time. Here are the main choices:

  • Ribbon tie: each side has a punched hole near the tip, and a ribbon threads through and ties in a bow. The classic wedding look, and the ribbon colour can echo the theme.
  • Interlocking tab closure: shaped tabs on each side slot together at the top, so no ribbon is needed. Faster to pack and good for corporate giveaways.
  • Pyramid with a window: a clear film window on one face shows sweets or a small item without opening the box.
  • Hanging pyramid: a loop of cord or ribbon at the point lets the box hang from a branch, a hook or a display stand.

Sizing Custom Pyramid Boxes

Pyramid boxes are measured by their base and height. Because the sides slope inwards, the usable space is smaller than the base might suggest: an item has to fit within the lower part of the pyramid, where it is widest.

For a handful of sugared almonds or a few chocolates, a 60 mm square base is usually plenty. Truffles or a small candle need something nearer 80 mm. For jewellery, place the item on its card or pouch and measure that, then choose a base a little larger so the sides close without pressing on it.

If you plan to place the box on a dinner plate or a name setting, check the base against the plate size so it sits flat rather than balancing on a rim. We are happy to send a plain sample so you can test the fit with real contents.

Height is the other lever. A taller, steeper pyramid looks more elegant on a table but has less room near the top, while a squat pyramid holds more for the same base. If the contents are bulky, such as a wrapped cookie or a soap bar, a lower profile is the better choice. If they are small and the box is mostly decorative, go taller.

Print, Paper and Finish

Most pyramid boxes are made from a smooth folding boxboard that takes print beautifully and folds with clean creases. White board suits bright colours and pastel wedding palettes. Kraft board gives a rustic look that pairs well with twine instead of satin ribbon. Pearlescent or metallic-effect stock adds a soft shimmer for evening events.

Print can be anything from a single line of text on one face to a full pattern across all four. Popular ideas include a couple's initials, a short thank-you message, a company logo on corporate gifts or a theme illustration for a child's party. Foil blocking in gold or silver on the initials gives a lovely finish, while a matt lamination keeps the colours soft and avoids glare in photos.

If the boxes will hold unwrapped sweets or chocolates, tell us and we will specify a food-contact grade board, available on request.

Who Uses Pyramid Boxes

Weddings are the obvious home for pyramid boxes, but they suit many other occasions. Event planners use them for party bags and table favours. Confectioners and chocolatiers sell single truffles or small assortments in them as an affordable gift. Jewellery makers use small pyramids for earrings or charms at craft fairs. Businesses order them for product launches and client events, often filled with a branded sweet or a small sample.

Schools and charities use them for raffle prizes and fundraisers, and baby showers and christenings make use of pastel versions with a name printed on one side.

Shops find them useful too. A basket of filled pyramids beside the till makes an easy add-on purchase, and the shape is distinctive enough that customers remember where they bought it. Bakeries sometimes use the larger size for a single macaron or a small biscuit, tied with a ribbon in the shop's colours. Where a favour needs more room, the six-sided hexagon boxes with lift-off lids hold two or three pieces.

Planning a Favour Order

Start by counting guests and adding a few extra boxes for spoilage during assembly and for anyone who wants to take one home for a relative. Decide on the closure early, because ribbon tied boxes take longer to pack than tab closures, and that matters if you are folding them the night before an event.

Gather your artwork: names, a monogram, a logo or a pattern. Keep the text short, because the triangular faces narrow quickly towards the top. If you need different names on different boxes, such as place-setting favours, ask us about variable printing.

Order ribbon in a colour that complements the print. We can supply boxes with holes punched to suit your chosen ribbon width.

How a Pyramid Box Order Runs

Email us the size, quantity and closure style, and we will send a custom quote within one working day. Minimums are low and quoted per job, which suits a single wedding as well as a brand's ongoing order. Prices for simple printed boxes start from £0.25 each.

We send a free design proof showing the flat blank with every face, so you can check names and spelling carefully. Once you approve it, production takes 4 to 7 working days, and free tracked delivery to UK mainland addresses arrives in 2 to 3 working days. Boxes ship flat, ready to fold.

If anything arrives misprinted or damaged, let us know within 10 days and we will reprint or refund the affected boxes.

Pyramid Boxes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering pyramid boxes.

How do pyramid boxes close?

Most close with a ribbon threaded through punched holes at the tip of each side. You can also choose interlocking card tabs, which hold the box shut without any ribbon.

Can each box show a different guest name?

Yes, variable printing lets each box carry a different name, which turns the favour into a place card as well. Send us the guest list in a spreadsheet and we will set it up.

Will sugared almonds fit in the smallest size?

A 50 mm base holds a few almonds or a single chocolate. If you want five or more almonds, the 60 mm size gives more room in the lower part of the pyramid.

Do you supply the ribbon?

We can supply ribbon or punch the holes to suit ribbon you already have. Tell us the width so the holes are the right size.

Can I put chocolates straight into the box?

Yes, ask for food-contact grade board, which is available on request. Wrapped sweets can go into standard board without any change.

How long does it take to fold them?

Once you have done a few, each box takes well under a minute, including tying the ribbon. Tab closures are quicker still.

Are kraft pyramid boxes available?

Yes, kraft board suits rustic and garden weddings and looks lovely with twine. Print on kraft appears slightly darker, so choose strong colours or black.

Can I add a window to see the sweets?

Yes, one face can have a clear film window. It works best on the larger sizes where the face is big enough to frame the contents.

How far ahead should I order wedding favours?

Allow time for the free proof, then 4 to 7 working days for production and 2 to 3 working days for free tracked UK mainland delivery. Ordering a couple of weeks before the event leaves time for packing.

What does a pyramid box cost?

Simple printed boxes start from £0.25 each. We will email a custom quote within one working day based on size, board and finish.

What if a few favour boxes are printed wrongly?

Let us know within 10 days and those favour boxes will be reprinted or refunded.
