A Box Specified by Its Materials
Buyers search for this product under a lot of different names, so it is worth being precise about what we actually supply. The board is kraft corrugated, single wall, in E or B flute. The liners can be natural brown or a white top liner. The ink is water-based. The closure is a tuck lock, a paper tear strip or water-activated paper tape. Inserts are folded card or moulded pulp.
What the box does not contain is just as important: no polythene film laminated to the print, no foil blocking, no soft-touch coating, no bubble lining, no foam. A box built this way is one family of material from the outside to the insert, which is what most brands are aiming for when they ask for packaging of this kind.
We print your artwork and say nothing on the box in our own name. If you want supporting paperwork, data sheets for the board and inks are available from the material supplier on request. The cardboard boxes made to order page explains the board grades in more detail if you want to pick the flute yourself.
Styles That Suit This Build
The roll end tuck front mailer is the everyday choice for online orders. It folds from a single flat blank, locks shut with its own flaps and opens like a lid, so the customer sees a printed inside panel first. A paper tear strip can be added along the lid so the box is tamper-evident without plastic tape.
Letterbox mailers are slimmer, around 25 mm deep, and fit through a standard letter plate. They work for cards, prints, small cosmetics and anything flat enough, and they save the customer a trip to the depot. Corrugated shipping cartons, the regular slotted style with four top flaps, take water-activated paper tape and carry heavier loads on a pallet.
For retail, a tuck end carton in heavy kraft folding board stands on a shelf and takes an open aperture window. Folding kraft cartons are also the base for the subscription boxes printed inside and out we make for monthly box businesses, where the inside print does most of the talking.

Printing on Kraft Board
Brown kraft takes ink differently from white board. Colours sit a shade darker and warmer, blacks are rich, whites print as a soft cream unless a white underprint is laid first. Most brands lean into this: one or two colours, bold shapes, and plenty of unprinted board showing. The result is cheap to print and looks like what it is.
If your artwork needs accurate brand colours or a photograph, we switch to a white top liner. The board underneath is still kraft, the ink is still water-based, but the surface is bright and the print is sharp. A litho-laminated liner gives the finest detail of all for premium retail cartons.
Print on the inside of the lid is included in the same pass, and a short message or pattern there is the single most effective finish for a mailer. Embossing a logo on the lid adds texture with no additional material. For a comparison of these options with pictures, see the print and finish options compared guide.
Inserts and Protection Without Foam
Protection comes from fit first and from paper-based inserts second. Measure the product in its packed state and allow a few millimetres so it slides in. Then choose an insert if the item is fragile or if several items share one box.
Folded card platforms hold a bottle or a jar upright and are die-cut from the same board as the box, so they arrive flat and pop into place. Corrugated dividers split a box into cells for sets. Moulded pulp trays cradle glass and ceramics and are the right choice for candles and skincare in heavy jars.
Paper void fill, kraft tissue and crinkle paper fill any remaining space and are all available with the order. Our corrugated inserts cut to your product page shows the common platform and divider styles with the measurements we need to make them.
Closures, Tape and Labels
Most mailers in this range need no tape at all because the flaps lock. Where a seal is required, water-activated paper tape bonds to the kraft liner and tears with it rather than peeling away. We print it with your logo on a roll if you want the outside of the parcel branded.
Address labels and seal labels are paper stock with a paper-friendly adhesive, so they go with the box rather than needing to be peeled off. Where you want the box reopened for a return, a second tear strip or a tuck-and-fold design handles that without any plastic.
If you ship through a courier that insists on a particular closure, tell us and we will match it. The branded paper packing tape rolls we supply are made to the standard dispenser widths.
Who Buys These Boxes
Online clothing brands that have moved from poly bags to paper. Skincare and candle makers shipping heavy jars with a pulp insert. Subscription businesses that want an unboxing moment without a laminated lid. Independent bookshops and print sellers using letterbox mailers so nothing has to be collected from a depot.
Food producers order the slotted carton version as an outer case for jars and bottles, printed one colour. Furniture and homeware makers use the larger B flute shippers with corrugated dividers. Craft kit and toy sellers use the apparel-sized mailer because the shallow footprint shows the contents laid out when the lid opens.
Many of these buyers also stock a plain version for wholesale and a printed version for direct orders. The plain unprinted mailer boxes share the same dielines, so the two can be ordered together and used interchangeably.
Ordering, Lead Time and Delivery
Send the internal dimensions, the style, the flute and the number of print colours, plus a logo or finished artwork. We send a custom quote by email within one working day, listing the board, ink, closure and any insert. Minimums are low and set per job; one-colour mailers start from £0.25 on larger runs.
After you approve the free design proof, production takes 4–7 working days. Delivery is free and tracked to UK mainland addresses in 2–3 working days, with the boxes flat-packed in outer cases. Misprints or transit damage reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded. If you are deciding between two sizes, the guide to measuring your product walks through the internal size calculation.

Eco-Friendly Boxes Questions
What buyers ask before ordering Eco-Friendly boxes.
What board do you use for these boxes?
Kraft corrugated board, single wall, in E flute for lighter goods or B flute for heavier ones, with a natural brown or white top liner.
Is the print laminated?
No. The ink is water-based and sits directly on the board. We can add a thin water-based varnish on white board if you want mild scuff protection.
Do you put any claim on the box?
No. We print your artwork as supplied and list the materials on the quote. Data sheets are available from the material supplier on request.
Can the box be sealed without plastic tape?
Yes. Most mailers lock shut with their own flaps, and we supply water-activated paper tape or a paper tear strip where a seal is needed.
Which paper-based inserts can go inside?
Folded card platforms, corrugated dividers and moulded pulp trays, all made to your product and shipped flat inside the box.
Will colours look the same on kraft as on white?
No. On brown kraft colours print darker and warmer. For accurate brand colours we use a white top liner or a white underprint.
Does the inside of the lid take print?
Yes. Inside print is part of the same print pass and is the most popular finish on a mailer box.
How deep can a letterbox mailer be?
About 25 mm fits most letter plates. We can make them slimmer for cards and prints.
How few boxes can I order to start?
Low and set per job. Tell us the size and quantity and the quote shows the price at that volume.
When would a first run of these boxes arrive?
If you approve the proof promptly, about two weeks after your first email: one working day for the quote, 4–7 working days to make the boxes and 2–3 working days for free tracked delivery on the UK mainland.
What if a box arrives damaged or misprinted?
Tell us within 10 days with a photo and we reprint or refund the affected boxes.
