Custom Cookie Mylar Bags
Custom cookie mylar bags are printed, resealable barrier pouches that hold one giant cookie or a stack of smaller ones and keep them soft for longer than a paper bag or a box alone. They are light to post, stand up on a shelf and carry your branding on every face.

Why Bakers Switch From Paper to Mylar
A cookie starts going stale the moment air gets to it. In a paper bag that happens within a day or two; in a cellophane bag tied with a ribbon it is not much better. Mylar bags are made from layered films with a metallised or high-barrier layer that slows down the movement of air and moisture, so a cookie sealed in one stays closer to the texture it had when it cooled. For a bakery selling online, that difference decides whether a customer opening a parcel three days later gets a soft cookie or a hard one.
The second reason is presentation. Mylar takes print beautifully, with rich colour and options for matt, gloss or holographic effects, and a stand-up pouch sits on a counter or shelf facing forward like a retail product rather than a bakery takeaway.
Mylar also protects against the odd knock. The film is tough and puncture-resistant, so a cookie in a bag inside a mailer arrives intact even if the parcel is squeezed. That is one less reason for a customer to message you with a photo of crumbs. Bakers who sell boxed gifts as well use our paper cookie boxes for gifting alongside the bags.
Bag Styles for Cookies
The style depends on how many cookies go in and how they are sold. A single large cookie, the thick bakery kind, suits a flat pouch slightly wider than the cookie with a tear notch and zip. A stack of four to six standard cookies suits a stand-up pouch with a bottom gusset so the stack can sit upright. Mini cookies or cookie bites sell well in a stand-up pouch with a clear window so the shopper can see how many are inside.
- Flat pouches with zip and tear notch for single giant cookies
- Stand-up pouches with a base gusset for stacks and bites
- Die-cut shaped pouches, such as a round or cookie-shaped outline
- Window pouches with a clear panel on the front
- Hang-hole pouches for peg displays in shops and cafés

Sizing Cookie Mylar Bags Properly
Measure the diameter of your largest cookie and its thickness. For a single cookie in a flat pouch, add around 20 mm to the width for easy filling, and allow for the zip and heat seal at the top, which take up about 30 to 40 mm of the bag height. For a stack, measure the stack height and choose a stand-up pouch whose gusset opens to at least that depth.
Do not size too tightly. A cookie squeezed into a snug pouch will crack as it goes in, and crumbs in the zip stop it closing properly. If in doubt, order a few plain samples in two sizes and try them with real cookies before committing to printed bags.
Weight is the other measure worth noting. If you sell cookie bites by weight, fill a sample bag with the target weight and check the fill line sits well below the zip. A bag that is too full is hard to close and tends to split along the side seals when squeezed. Our steps for measuring a cookie stack show where the seal allowance goes.
Sealing for Freshness and Tamper Evidence
Most cookie bags combine two closures. The heat seal at the very top is applied after filling with a simple impulse sealer, and it shows clearly whether the bag has been opened. Below it sits the press-to-close zip, which the customer uses after tearing the top off at the notch. This gives you a tamper-evident first opening and a resealable bag for the rest of the week.
If you sell at markets and fill bags just before the stall opens, a zip alone may be enough. For anything posted or sold through a shop, we strongly recommend heat sealing. It costs little and stops customers worrying that a bag has been tampered with. Single cookies sold at a till are often packed in tear notch pouches for single cookies instead.
Print, Windows and Finishes
Mylar is printed digitally for shorter runs and by rotogravure for very large runs, so both small bakeries and bigger brands can have full-colour bags. Matt surfaces look modern and calm and hide fingerprints. Gloss looks bright and lively and suits bold, colourful brands. A spot gloss on a matt bag, applied only to the logo or cookie photo, adds contrast that catches the eye.
A clear window shows the real cookie, which is persuasive if your bake looks good. Keep the window large enough to show the texture but not so large that it weakens the barrier. Windows let in light, which can affect chocolate over a long shelf life, so think about how long your bags will sit on display.
Inside printing is possible on some bag types and makes a fun surprise: a thank-you message or a reheating tip revealed as the customer tears the bag open. It adds a little cost, so it suits brands that already lean heavily on unboxing. A larger clear panel is available on our window mylar bags showing the cookie.
- Front: logo, flavour and a clear window or photo
- Back: ingredients, allergens, weight and storage notes
- Gusset: a pattern or brand colour visible on the shelf
- Top strip: space for a best-before sticker or stamp
Who Buys Printed Cookie Bags
Online bakeries posting cookie boxes use mylar bags inside a shipping box so each cookie stays fresh even if the box sits for a day. Cafés use window pouches by the till for impulse buys. Farm shops and delis stock bagged cookies from local bakers, and wholesale bakeries supply them to coffee chains, gyms and offices. Event caterers use small pouches as favours, often with a custom flavour or message printed for the occasion.
Brands that sell cookie dough or cookie mixes use the same bags, sometimes with a larger gusset and a zip for repeated use.
Bakers moving from boxes to bags often keep both: a printed mailer box for the outside journey and individual mylar bags inside it. The box carries the brand on arrival, and the bags keep each cookie at its best while the customer works through them over a few days.
Bag a Cookie and Leave It on the Counter Overnight
The honest test of a cookie bag is a day old cookie, so before you order, seal one of yours in any barrier pouch and try it the next morning. If it is still soft, a zip and a heat seal is the right spec; if it dried out, you need a thicker film. Then measure the cookie at its widest and the height of the stack you want in each bag, and add 30 mm for the seal and zip. Choose stand-up or flat by how the bags are sold: stand-up for shelves, flat for mailing. Artwork goes on a flat template with front, back and gusset marked, so send a vector logo and the allergen text as plain text and we set it on a free proof. The quote comes by email within one working day, minimums are low and quoted per job, and bags are made in 4–7 working days after approval with free tracked UK mainland delivery. Firmer bakes that need to stay crisp rather than soft use our biscotti bags for crunchier bakes.

Cookie Mylar Bags Questions
What buyers ask before ordering cookie mylar bags.
How long do cookies stay fresh in mylar bags?
It depends on your recipe and how well the bag is sealed, so we do not give a fixed time. A heat-sealed mylar bag slows air and moisture far better than paper or cellophane. Test a batch over several days to see how your cookies hold up.
Should I heat seal the bag or just use the zip?
For posted or shop-sold cookies, heat seal above the zip. It gives tamper evidence and a better barrier until first opening. A simple impulse sealer is enough.
What size bag fits a large bakery cookie?
For a cookie up to 120 mm wide, a flat pouch around 140 x 170 mm works well. Allow for the zip and seal at the top when choosing height. Thicker cookies may need a small gusset.
Can I add a clear window?
Yes, on the front or as a shaped cut-out. Windows show off your bake but let light in, so keep shelf times in mind with chocolate cookies. The proof shows window size and position.
Can chocolate chip and oat cookies share one bag order?
Yes, as long as both use the same bag size, each flavour gets its own printed front panel within one order. Each design has its own proof. Splitting one run across flavours keeps the minimums manageable.
Do mylar bags work for warm cookies?
Let cookies cool completely before bagging. Warm cookies release steam that condenses inside the bag and softens the texture unevenly. Once cool, seal straight away for best results.
Is a kraft-look cookie bag possible?
Yes, kraft paper outer bags with a barrier lining give a natural bakery look with similar freshness benefits. Print on kraft is earthier and less vivid. It suits rustic brands well.
Can I hang the bags on a display?
Add a hang hole at the top and the bags can hang on pegs or a counter stand. It is popular in cafés and farm shops. The hole sits above the heat seal so the barrier is not affected.
Can the bags be shaped like a cookie?
Die-cut round or custom-shaped pouches are possible and make a strong shelf statement. They cost more than standard shapes and need their own cutter. We quote them per job.
Where do I print the allergen information?
Usually on the back, with the ingredients and weight. If your recipes change often, a printed sticker is more flexible than printing allergens on the bag. We print exactly the text you supply.
What if the zips do not close properly on arrival?
Report any faulty or misprinted bags within 10 days and we reprint or refund them. Crumbs in the zip are the usual reason for poor closing, so a quick wipe while filling helps.
