Custom baby doll boxes present a doll standing or sitting behind a clear window, held gently in place with ties against a printed card back, so it arrives looking exactly as it did on the shelf. Toy brands, doll makers and gift shops use them for retail display, online orders and presents.

The Box Is the First Thing a Child Sees

For a child, a new doll in a window box is a moment of pure excitement. The doll looks out through the window, already dressed, with her accessories arranged around her. For the adult buying it, the box shows exactly what they are getting and makes the doll easy to wrap or hand over as a gift.

The box also does practical work. It keeps the doll's hair neat, stops clothes getting creased and holds small accessories such as bottles, dummies and hair clips in their own spots so nothing goes missing. For shop display, it lets the doll stand upright on a shelf at eye level.

Handmade and collectable dolls benefit even more. A soft-bodied doll made by hand, or a limited collector's doll, deserves packaging that reflects the hours of work behind it, and collectors often keep the box as part of the doll's value.

Grandparents and relatives buying a doll as a present often choose based on the box as much as the doll. A clear window, a warm design and a sense that the doll is well cared for all reassure the buyer that the gift will be received with delight. Toy brands that sell a doll alongside a board game or puzzle often match the artwork across both, using the board game boxes in the same print style.

Window Box Structures

Doll boxes come in a few standard structures, each suited to a different size and type of doll. We can adapt any of them to your doll's shape and accessories.

Peg display is another option for smaller dolls. A hang tab at the top of a window box lets shops hang dolls in rows, which saves shelf space and keeps the boxes at a child's eye level in a toy aisle.

Holding the Doll in Place

A doll that slides around in transit arrives with messy hair and twisted clothes. The usual solution is a card back panel with small holes, through which soft ties or twist ties hold the doll at the neck, waist and ankles. The ties are firm enough to stop movement but easy for an adult to undo.

For soft-bodied dolls, a shaped card cradle can hold the body without ties. Accessories are held in a separate card tray with cut-outs, or tied to the back panel next to the doll. Plan where each accessory goes so the box looks balanced through the window.

Tell us about the doll and every accessory you want to include, and we will design the back panel and ties around them.

Think about the person opening the box, usually an excited child with an adult helping. Ties that undo with a twist, rather than ones that need scissors, make the moment smoother and safer. A small printed note on the back panel showing how to release the doll is a thoughtful touch. Tie positions and the card back are drawn up the same way as our card inserts and platforms for products.

Sizing Custom Baby Doll Boxes

Measure the doll standing or sitting as you want it displayed: height, width at the widest point (often the arms or skirt) and depth front to back. Add space for accessories, and allow a few millimetres between the doll and the window so the film does not press on the doll's face.

Most baby doll boxes are deeper than they look because of the space behind the doll for the card back. Allow for that when measuring. If you sell several doll sizes, consider a family of boxes with the same design so your range looks consistent.

For dolls sold with a pram, cot or bath, the box needs to show the doll and the accessory together. Placing the larger accessory at the back and the doll in front, both visible through the window, usually works best. We will sketch the layout on the proof before anything is cut. Our guide to measuring a product for packaging walks through allowances for irregular shapes.

Print, Colour and Safety Information

Doll boxes tend to be bright, warm and friendly, with soft colours, illustrations and the doll's name in a playful typeface. The back panel behind the doll is a great place for a scene, such as a bedroom, a park or a nursery, that gives the doll a world to live in.

Toys sold in the UK must carry certain safety information and markings, including age warnings where they apply. We print the information and marks you supply exactly as given, so check them with your supplier or compliance adviser and confirm them carefully on the proof.

Matt or gloss lamination protects the box from fingerprints and handling in shops. Gloss makes colours brighter; matt gives a softer, more modern look.

A name for the doll printed on the front, perhaps with a short line about her personality, gives children something to connect with before the box is even opened. Many doll makers find that named dolls are remembered and asked for again. Small die-cast vehicles sold with a doll set use the same safety text layout as our die-cast car boxes with window.

Shipping Doll Boxes

Window boxes are designed for display, so they are not as strong as a plain carton. For online orders, place the window box inside a corrugated shipping carton with a little padding. This keeps the window from being punctured and the corners from being crushed.

If you sell mostly online, a sturdier board for the window box itself, or a corrugated window box, reduces damage further.

Keep window film clean during packing. Fingerprints and dust on the inside of the window are hard to remove once the doll is tied in place, so pack in a clean area and handle boxes by the edges.

Pose the Doll First, Then Size the Window

Doll boxes are sized around a pose, not just the doll. Decide whether she stands, sits or lies down, lay out any accessories around her on a sheet of paper, and measure the footprint and the tallest point. A standing doll with a bottle in one hand needs more width than her body alone, and a seated doll with a pram needs more depth. Those numbers set the box and the window, which should be a little smaller than the inside so the ties stay hidden.

Email the measurements, a photo of the arrangement and an idea of quantity. You will have a custom quote within one working day and a free proof showing the back panel, tie positions and window outline. Low minimums are quoted per job, which suits small doll makers testing a new character. Boxes take 4 to 7 working days to make once the proof is approved and arrive flat on free tracked UK mainland delivery in 2 to 3 working days; print faults or crush damage reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded. Accessory packs sold separately fit well in printed game and accessory boxes from the same range.

Baby Doll Boxes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering baby doll boxes.

How is the doll held in place?

Soft ties or twist ties pass through small holes in a card back panel and hold the doll at the neck, waist and ankles. Soft-bodied dolls can sit in a shaped card cradle instead.

Will the window press on the doll's face?

We allow a few millimetres between the doll and the window so the film does not touch the face or hair. Send accurate measurements of the doll as displayed.

Can accessories be included in the box?

Yes, accessories can be tied to the back panel or held in a card tray with cut-outs. Send a list of every accessory so we can plan the layout.

Can you print a scene behind the doll?

Yes, the back panel can carry a printed scene such as a nursery or bedroom. It gives the doll a setting and makes the box more appealing.

Do you print safety warnings and marks?

We print the safety information and markings you supply exactly as given. Check them with your supplier or compliance adviser before approving the proof.

Are window boxes strong enough to post?

Window boxes are made for display, so for posting we recommend placing them in a corrugated shipping carton with padding. We can supply matching cartons.

Can I order boxes for several doll sizes?

Yes, a family of boxes with the same design keeps your range consistent. Minimums are quoted per job, so mixed sizes are common.

Can a box have a carry handle?

Yes, larger doll boxes can have a handle built into the top. It makes them easier to carry from a shop and suits gift purchases.

Which finish works best for toy boxes?

Gloss lamination makes colours bright and resists fingerprints, while matt gives a softer, modern look. Both protect the box in shops.

Can boxes arrive before a toy fair or a stockist order ships?

Yes, tell us the date you need them. Production takes 4 to 7 working days after proof approval, plus 2 to 3 working days for free tracked delivery. Allow extra time if the back panel scene is still being illustrated.

Can a small doll maker order a short run?

Yes, minimums are low and quoted per job, which suits makers and new toy brands.
