Custom Paper Soap Boxes
Custom paper soap boxes give a handmade bar a clean, all-paper home with no film window, no plastic tray and nothing for the customer to separate before it goes in the paper bin. We cut them from white or kraft card to the exact size of your bar and print as much or as little as your brand needs.

An All-Paper Pack for Soap That Skips the Plastic
Many soap makers move away from shrink film and acetate windows because their buyers ask for it. A folding carton made from a single sheet of card does the same job of protecting the bar, carrying the ingredients list and looking good on a shelf, without mixing materials. The box opens, the bar comes out, and the carton is plain paperboard from top to bottom.
We do not stamp any environmental marks on the box for you, but the construction itself is simple: board, ink and, if you choose, a water-based coating.
The box also does practical work. A bar wrapped only in paper picks up scuffs in transit and can sweat in a warm shop. A snug carton keeps the edges sharp, stops bars rubbing against each other in a shipping case and gives you a flat panel for the legal text that cosmetic soap needs. Makers who want even less material use our soap sleeves with no box, a printed band around the bar.
Printed Paper Soap Boxes or Plain Kraft?
Kraft board has a warm brown surface that reads as natural and handmade the moment someone picks it up. It takes one or two colour prints well, especially black, deep green or white ink, and it hides small marks from handling. Brands with a rustic or apothecary look usually start here.
White card is the better choice when you want bright colours, photography or fine botanical illustration. Full colour print on white gives crisp detail and accurate brand colours, and you can print the inside of the box too, so a short message or pattern appears when the flap opens.
A middle route is white card printed with a kraft-effect background, or kraft card with a single foil stamped logo. Both give a premium finish on a modest budget. If you are not sure, ask for a custom quote on both boards; the price difference is often smaller than people expect.
- Kraft card: natural look, strong with one or two ink colours
- White card: full colour, photography and fine line art
- Inside print: a pattern or message revealed on opening
- Foil stamp: a metallic logo that lifts a plain box

Sizing the Box Around Your Bar
Soap bars shrink slightly as they cure, so measure a fully cured bar rather than one fresh from the mould. Take the length, width and depth at the widest points and send them to us with a note on whether the bar has rounded edges or a stamped top that needs clearance.
We usually add one to two millimetres on length and width so the bar slides in without catching, and a little more on depth if your soap carries a raised logo. Too much air and the bar rattles; too little and customers tear the flap getting it out. If you make several shapes, a single box size that fits the largest bar can keep stock simple, though a fitted box always looks better on the shelf.
For round or oval bars, a square box with a printed card insert or a short sleeve may suit better than a tight carton. Tell us the shape and we will suggest a style.
Box Styles That Work for Bar Soap
The reverse tuck end carton is the everyday choice: flaps at both ends, quick to pack and easy to open. A crash-lock base speeds up packing for brands filling large runs by hand, because the bottom pops into shape in one move.
Sleeve and tray sets give a drawer-style reveal that feels more like a gift, and they let a customer see the bar by sliding the tray halfway out. Die-cut windows in the card itself, with no film behind them, show off colour and texture while keeping the pack all paper. A cut-out shaped like a leaf, a bee or your initial is a neat way to let shoppers smell the bar without opening it.
What to Put on the Panels
Soap sold as a cosmetic in the UK needs certain information on the pack, including the ingredients list and the details of the responsible person. Your safety assessor or adviser will tell you exactly what applies to your product; we simply make sure there is enough room for it and that the type is printed sharp at small sizes.
Beyond the essentials, think about what a shopper reads in the few seconds they hold the box. A scent name in large type, a short line about how the bar feels on the skin and a clear weight on the front panel do more than long paragraphs. Use the back for the story of your workshop and the side panels for usage tips or a batch code area you can stamp by hand. Long ingredient lists sometimes move to ingredient labels for the base instead of print.
Packing, Storing and Shipping Boxed Bars
Boxes arrive flat, so a few hundred take up little more space than a ream of paper. Keep them somewhere dry and away from the curing rack, because card picks up moisture and fragrance from the air. Fold a handful the night before a big packing session and you will find the work goes much faster.
If you sell online, a boxed bar travels far better than a wrapped one. The carton spreads the knocks from the courier across its corners, and several boxes fit neatly into a small mailer with a little paper fill. Wholesale customers also prefer boxed soap, since it stacks on a shelf without shedding scraps of wrap and keeps the label facing forward. Boxed bars shipped to stockists are kept apart by kraft dividers for shipping bars.
Measure a Cured Bar From Each Mould
Paper soap boxes are cut close to the bar, so measure after curing, not on cutting day, and measure a bar from every mould you use; two moulds sold as the same size often differ by a few millimetres. Give us the length, width and thickness of the largest, and tell us how many scents you sell, because the usual order is one box size with a different colour panel per scent and low minimums per design. Decide white or kraft card, whether a shaped cut-out lets the scent through, and where the ingredients and the weight sit, which on a small box usually means the back and the base. Artwork is a logo and a colour per scent, sent as vector files, and the free proof shows the dieline with the cut-out and the panels marked. A custom quote comes by email within one working day, minimums are quoted per job so a small studio can order a short run of each scent, and boxes are made in 4–7 working days after approval with free tracked UK mainland delivery. Bars that should be seen whole are on our handmade soap boxes with a window page.

Paper Soap Boxes Questions
What buyers ask before ordering paper soap boxes.
Can paper soap boxes be made with no plastic at all?
Yes. We make them from a single sheet of card with no film window, no plastic insert and no laminate. If you want a coating, we use a water-based one rather than a film.
Will an essential oil soap stain the card?
Oils can mark uncoated board if the bar sits in the box for a long time. A water-based coating on the inside or a slip of glassine paper around the bar helps, and we can advise once we know your recipe type.
Does a cured bar need a smaller paper box than a fresh one?
Yes, bars lose a little size as water evaporates during curing, so a box sized to a fresh bar ends up loose. Measure a fully cured bar at its widest points and send those figures. If you cut from several moulds, measure one bar from each.
Can lavender and oat scents share one paper box order?
Yes, many soap makers order several designs on the same box size so each scent has its own colour panel. We quote the run as a whole and keep the minimum per design low. Each design gets its own proof.
Is kraft or white card better for a handmade brand?
Kraft gives an earthy, handmade look and suits one or two colours. White card is better for full colour artwork and photography. We can quote both so you can compare.
Can customers smell the soap through a paper box?
Yes, a die-cut window or a small shaped cut-out lets the scent through and shows the bar, with no film behind it. Keep the cut-out away from the ingredients panel. It is cut at the same time as the box.
How much room do I need for the ingredients list?
It depends on how long your list is and the type size your adviser asks for. Send us the text and we will place it on the back or side panel and show it on the free proof.
Do you make boxes for round or oval soap?
Yes. Round bars often sit best in a square carton with a simple card insert, or in a sleeve. Tell us the shape and diameter and we will suggest the neatest fit.
Can the inside flap of a paper soap box be printed?
Yes, inside print is popular for soap because it adds a surprise when the flap opens, such as a pattern, a thank-you or usage tips. It is printed on the same sheet as the outside. We quote it as an extra print area.
How quickly can I get paper soap boxes for a market weekend?
After you approve the free proof, production takes 4–7 working days and free tracked UK mainland delivery takes 2–3 working days. Order with that window in mind and we will confirm dates with your custom quote.
What if paper soap boxes arrive crushed?
Photograph the crushed boxes and the parcel and send the photos within 10 days of delivery, and we reprint the affected boxes or refund them. Flat-packed boxes rarely crush, so damage usually points to the courier. Check the outer bundles on arrival.
