Custom Wig Boxes With Satin Linings

from £0.25 a boxPriced per job · low minimums

Custom wig boxes are deep, sturdy boxes that hold a styled wig without crushing its curls or bending its lace, often with a satin-look lining and a wig stand or form inside. We make them for wig makers, hair brands and salons, printed with your logo inside and out.

Why Wigs Need a Deeper Box

A wig is not like a bundle of hair extensions that can be folded into a flat box. Once it has been cut, coloured and styled, the shape is part of the product. Squash it into a shallow box and the curls drop, the parting flattens and the lace front can crease. A customer who has paid for a custom unit wants it to arrive looking exactly as it did on the mannequin.

That is why wig boxes are deeper than most beauty packaging. They give the wig space to keep its volume, and many include a way of holding the wig in place so it does not slide into one corner. For long, straight wigs, the box can be longer and lower, letting the hair lie flat without kinks.

Hair fibres also react to pressure and heat. Human hair and heat-friendly synthetic fibres can take on a new bend if they are pressed against a box wall for days in a warm van. Synthetic wigs in particular can be hard to restyle once a kink sets in. A properly sized box is the simplest way to avoid disappointed customers and returns. p2 Brands that sell closures and frontals on their own use our pillow boxes for small hair pieces.

Box Styles for Wigs and Units

The most common style is a rigid two-piece box with a lift-off lid. It is strong, feels premium and can be reused to store the wig between wears. A magnetic flap box opens like a book and looks very polished on a vanity. Drawer boxes slide out from a sleeve, giving a dramatic reveal that suits high-end brands.

For everyday orders or lower-priced wigs, a folding corrugated mailer with a printed inside works well. It folds flat for storage, protects the wig in the post and still gives a branded unboxing moment.

Linings, Forms and Inserts

Satin-look linings are a favourite with wig brands because they are smooth against the hair, reduce friction and look luxurious. The lining can cover the base, the walls and the inside of the lid. A pocket in the lid can hold a care card, a wig cap or a satin bag.

To hold the wig in shape, some boxes include a foam or card head form, or a raised dome that the wig sits on. Others use a simple card insert with a slot for the lace edge. For long wigs, a tissue wrap around the length keeps strands from tangling. Tell us how the wig is styled and we will suggest the best way to hold it.

Accessories can travel in the same box. A small compartment for a wig cap, edge brush, clips or a bottle of care product turns the box into a complete kit and saves the customer buying them separately.

Sizing Custom Wig Boxes

Wig boxes are usually sized around the wig on a form or folded gently in half. For a short bob or pixie cut, a box around 250 mm square and 120 mm deep is often enough. Shoulder-length wigs need a little more length, and very long wigs of 600 mm or more may need a long, shallow box so the hair can lie flat.

If your range includes several lengths, two or three box sizes usually cover everything. Measure each style on its form or as you would pack it, including any curls, and we will set sizes that hold them without crushing.

Weight is rarely a concern with wigs, but volume is. Curly and coily textures take up far more space than straight hair of the same length, so measure the styled wig rather than relying on the length alone. A sample box made up before the full run is a good way to check that your fullest style fits comfortably. p2 The guide to measuring a product explains how to allow for volume rather than length.

Branding That Suits Hair Brands

Wig and hair brands often lean towards bold, glamorous packaging: black, pink, nude or white wraps with foil logos, or striking photography of the model wearing the wig. Inside printing can carry a welcome message, care instructions or a social media handle, encouraging customers to share their unboxing.

Foil, embossing and soft-touch laminates all work well on wig boxes. A ribbon closure or a magnetic flap adds a satisfying opening. For salons and stylists, a simpler design with your salon name and a clean colour scheme keeps costs down while still looking professional.

Think about the moment your customer posts a video of the unboxing. The lid coming off, the lining, the wig on its form and any thank-you card all appear on camera. A design that looks good from above, with a clear logo inside the lid, gets shown off far more often than a plain box. p2 Gift editions in a magnetic box are shown on our hair extension gift boxes page.

Posting Wigs Safely

Most wigs are sold online, so the box must survive the post. Rigid presentation boxes are strong but can scuff, so pack them inside a plain or printed shipping carton. Corrugated mailers can travel on their own with just a label. Either way, the wig should not be able to slide; a form or insert takes care of that.

Keep the outer packaging discreet if your customers prefer it. Some people buy wigs for medical hair loss and value privacy. A plain outer carton with the branded box inside is a thoughtful approach that many brands use.

Before a busy launch, post a boxed wig to yourself or a friend and look at it on arrival. Check that the form held, that the lid did not press on the curls and that the outer carton protected the wrap. It is a simple test that catches problems while they are still cheap to fix.

Measure the Styled Wig, Not the Hair Length

Wig makers tend to quote a length, but a 20 inch deep-wave unit takes twice the box of a 20 inch straight one. Put the wig on its form, styled as it will ship, and measure the width across the fullest curls, the length to the ends and the height from the base of the form to the crown. Send those figures for your fullest and your longest style and we set sizes that cover the range without crushing anything.

Decide on the form or insert and the lining at the same time, because they fix the inside depth, and say whether the box posts on its own or inside a plain carton. The custom quote arrives by email within one working day, from £0.25 for a simple mailer, with the minimum set per job.

The free proof shows the box, the insert and the inside-lid print. Production takes 4 to 7 working days after approval and the boxes reach UK mainland addresses by free tracked delivery. Makers who also sell bundles usually add our flat boxes for hair extensions in the same wrap so the two sit together on a shelf.

Wig Boxes Questions

What buyers ask before ordering wig boxes.

How deep should a wig box be?

Most styled wigs need around 120 to 160 mm of depth to keep their volume. Short wigs can use a little less. Very long straight wigs can go in a longer, shallower box.

Why use a satin-look lining?

A smooth lining reduces friction on the hair and helps prevent frizz. It also looks luxurious when the box is opened. It can line the base, walls and lid.

Can the box include a wig form?

Yes, a foam or card head form or a raised dome holds the wig in shape. It stops the wig sliding to one corner. We size it to your wig's cap.

Can I add space for accessories?

Yes, a compartment can hold a wig cap, edge brush, clips or a care product. It turns the box into a complete kit. Tell us the size of each item.

Is a rigid box or a mailer better?

Rigid boxes feel premium and can be kept for storage. Corrugated mailers cost less and post well on their own. Many brands use mailers for everyday orders and rigid boxes for premium units.

How do I stop lace fronts creasing?

A form or insert keeps the lace edge flat and away from folds. Tissue around the hairline adds protection. Avoid packing the wig too tightly.

Can the outer packaging be discreet?

Yes, a plain shipping carton around your branded box keeps the contents private. Many customers appreciate this. The branded box is then revealed on opening.

Can wig care instructions be printed inside the lid?

Yes. The inside of the lid is the first thing a customer sees when the box opens, so washing, storage and styling tips printed there get read, and it saves a separate card. Keep the text to a few short lines in a colour that reads against the lining.

Do you make boxes for theatre wigs?

Yes, deeper boxes with forms suit theatre and costume wigs that must keep their styling. Strong board helps them survive tours and storage. Labels can be printed for each production.

Can customers reuse the box to store the wig?

Rigid boxes with lift-off lids suit storage between wears. The lining keeps the hair smooth. That reuse keeps your brand visible.
