Custom Coffee Cup Sleeves
Coffee cup sleeves are printed card bands that wrap around a hot cup so customers can hold it comfortably. Coffee shops use them to carry their logo onto every takeaway cup without printing the cups themselves.

Comfort First, Branding Close Behind
A single-wall paper cup full of freshly brewed coffee is too hot to hold for long. A sleeve adds a layer of card between the cup and the hand, so customers can carry their drink comfortably while they walk. That simple job is why sleeves are found in coffee shops of every size.
The sleeve also happens to sit at eye level on every takeaway drink. Printing your logo on it means your brand travels down the street, into offices and onto desks. For many independent cafés, a printed sleeve is the most affordable way to brand takeaway drinks, because sleeves cost far less to print in small runs than custom cups.
A sleeve also lets you keep plain stock cups in every size and still hand over a branded drink, so cup ordering stays simple and a change of cup supplier does not mean reprinting anything. Because the sleeve goes on only where it is needed, iced drinks can stay in plain cups while every hot drink leaves the counter wearing your logo.
Sizing Sleeves to Your Cups
Sleeves are cut to the taper of a cup, so they must match the cup size. Most cafés use 8 oz, 12 oz and 16 oz cups, and the same sleeve often fits 12 and 16 oz cups from the same supplier because they share a similar diameter where the hand grips. 8 oz cups are narrower and usually need their own sleeve.
Cup shapes vary between suppliers, so send us the brand and size of your cups, or a sample, and we will match the sleeve template to them. A sleeve that fits well sits at the right height and does not slide down the cup.
Order a small sample of sleeves before a large run if you are changing cup supplier, and test them during a real service. Baristas soon notice if a sleeve is fiddly to fit or slides on a full cup. Textured cups such as the ripple wall coffee cups for hot drinks often need no sleeve at all.

Board and Insulation
Sleeves are usually made from folding board or a thin corrugated board. Plain board is smooth and prints sharply, which suits detailed logos and full colour designs. Corrugated sleeves have a ridged inner layer that traps air and gives better insulation, so they suit very hot drinks and cafés that serve long, slow-sipped coffees. Kraft board has a natural look and suits rustic coffee shops.
A matt varnish over the print helps a sleeve shrug off drips and damp hands behind a busy counter, while leaving the board uncoated keeps a softer, papery feel and takes pen or stamp marks.
For very bright designs, a smooth white board gives the best colour, while kraft board softens colours and suits muted, earthy palettes.
Corrugated sleeves are slightly thicker, so check they still fit any cup lids and carriers you use; a thick sleeve can stop a cup sitting fully down in a four-cup carrier.
Uncoated board also takes a stamp well, which some cafés use to mark drink types or loyalty points on the sleeve itself.
Designing a Sleeve That Gets Noticed
A sleeve is a long, curved band, so the design should be readable from any angle. Many cafés repeat their logo twice around the sleeve so it is visible whichever way the cup is held. Bold, simple designs work better than fine detail. A pattern that wraps all the way around looks smart and hides the join.
Use the sleeve for more than the logo. A short message, a loyalty card reminder, your social media name or a QR code linking to an online menu all fit comfortably. Some cafés print a different message for each new drink or special promotion.
Remember where the seam falls. The glued join sits at the back of the sleeve, so keep key text away from that area so it is not split or hidden.
If you serve several cup sizes, using the same design on each sleeve helps customers recognise your brand whatever they order. Colour, foil and one-colour kraft print on card bands are compared in the print and finish options guide.
Using Sleeves for Promotions
Because sleeves cost little to print in short runs, they suit promotions that only last a few weeks. A new drink, a local event, a loyalty scheme or a charity partnership can all be promoted on a limited run of sleeves. Companies also order branded sleeves for corporate events, product launches and office coffee bars, putting their logo on every drink served.
Event caterers use printed sleeves to brand drinks at conferences and exhibitions, often with the event name and sponsor logos.
Sleeves also make a natural space for partner messages. A local bakery, a nearby gym or a charity can be featured on a short run, sharing the cost and adding variety for regular customers. A promotional print run pairs well with cardboard cup holders for multiple drinks carrying the same message.
Assembly and Storage
Sleeves are supplied either flat and glued, ready to open and slide onto a cup, or as flat sheets that are folded and glued at the shop. Pre-glued sleeves save time behind the counter and suit busy morning service. Flat sleeves stack compactly and take very little space under the counter.
Keep sleeves near the cup stack so baristas can grab one with each cup, and store spare stock somewhere dry.
Pre-glued sleeves come flat-packed in bundles. Opening a handful at the start of a shift and placing them near the cup stack speeds up service during the morning rush. The board and card types guide explains why some boards fold flatter in a bundle.
Send Us the Cup Brand, Not Just the Size
A sleeve is sized to the taper of a cup, and two 12 oz cups from different suppliers can differ by several millimetres at the top rim. The quickest way to get a sleeve that grips without binding is to tell us the brand and product code of the cups you use, or post us one of each size. We then set the band length and the curve of the sleeve to that cup, and the free proof shows the print on the flat sleeve template so you can check the logo lands on the side that faces the customer.
A custom quote comes by email within one working day, sleeves start from £0.25 on smaller runs and fall as quantities rise, and minimums are quoted per job. Once the proof is approved, making the sleeves takes 4 to 7 working days and free tracked UK mainland delivery follows in 2 to 3 working days. Sleeves that arrive marked or misprinted are reprinted or refunded if reported within 10 days. Cafes that switch to a thicker cup sometimes drop the sleeve altogether in favour of double wall paper cups with print.

Coffee Cup Sleeves Questions
What buyers ask before ordering coffee cup sleeves.
Will one sleeve fit 12 and 16 oz cups?
Often yes, if both cups come from the same supplier and share a similar grip diameter. We check against your cup sizes.
Do I need a separate sleeve for 8 oz cups?
Usually yes. 8 oz cups are narrower, so they need a smaller sleeve to sit properly.
Are corrugated sleeves better for hot drinks?
Yes. The ridged inner layer traps air, so corrugated sleeves insulate better than plain board and suit very hot drinks. They are a little thicker, so check they still sit down fully in your cup carriers.
Can I print a QR code on the sleeve?
Yes. A QR code linking to your menu, loyalty scheme or website fits well on a sleeve.
Are sleeves supplied ready to use?
Pre-glued sleeves arrive flat in bundles, then open and slide onto the cup straight away. Flat blanks that you fold and glue yourself take less space but add a step behind the counter.
Can I run a short promotion on sleeves?
Yes. A new drink, a local event or a loyalty push can go on a limited batch, and the next design is proofed against the same sleeve template, so changing the message costs only the print.
Is a printed sleeve cheaper than printed cups?
For small cafés, sleeves are usually the more affordable way to brand takeaway drinks, as they cost less in short runs.
What details do you need about my cups?
The cup brand and sizes, or a sample cup, so we can match the sleeve template exactly.
What do printed sleeves cost on a small run?
Prices start from £0.25 a sleeve on smaller runs. Tell us what you need in your coffee cup sleeves and a custom quote arrives by email within one working day.
What if sleeves arrive misprinted?
Report it within 10 days and we will reprint or refund them.
