Board, Ink and Closure
The box is single-wall corrugated board with an unbleached kraft liner on both faces and a paper flute between them. The standard grade is E flute, about 1.5 mm thick, which gives a crisp print surface and enough strength for clothing, cosmetics and small goods. B flute, about 3 mm, is available for heavier contents such as jars and books.
Print is water-based flexo in one or two colours, applied directly to the kraft. There is no film laminate over the print, no foil and no soft-touch coating. The lid locks into the front wall and the side flaps lock the ends, so the box closes without tape. A paper tear strip glued into the lid at manufacture gives a tamper-evident seal if you want one.
That is the whole construction, and it is what we describe on the quote. We do not make claims about how the box breaks down after use; data sheets for the board, inks and adhesive are available from the material supplier on request if you need them for your own packaging page. The same board goes into the plain kraft mailer boxes without print that many buyers run for wholesale orders.
Mailer Styles and Sizes
The roll end tuck front mailer is the standard. The blank arrives flat, folds up in a few seconds, and the lid tucks into the front with two locking tabs at the sides. The crash-lock base version has a base that pops into place when the box is opened out, which is quicker on a busy packing bench.
A slim postal mailer, 40 mm deep or less, is sized for folded clothing, prints and small accessories. A book mailer wraps a book tightly with a double-thickness end wall. For larger orders, the mailer goes up to about 350 x 250 x 120 mm before a shipper with top flaps becomes the better choice.
Every size in between is made to order. Measure the product as it will be packed, allow 3 to 5 mm per side, and tell us the internal dimensions. If the product is fragile, add 10 mm so a card platform can hold it clear of the walls. The custom mailer boxes made to your size page lists the dimensions we are asked for most.

Printing on Brown Board
Kraft takes ink warmly. Black is deep, white prints as a soft cream unless laid twice, and brand colours sit a shade darker than on white. Most designs on this box use one colour on the lid and a line of text on one side, leaving the rest of the board bare. Two colours allow a brand colour plus black.
Inside print is part of the same pass and is the finish buyers come back for. A pattern, a thank-you line or a short note on the inside of the lid is the first thing the customer sees, and it costs very little because the blank is printed flat before folding. A white-top kraft liner is available if the artwork needs accurate colour on the outside face.
Embossing or debossing the logo presses it into the board with no ink at all. On a brown mailer it reads as premium without changing the material. For the way these finishes compare in photographs, see the boxes printed with your logo page, which shows one-colour, two-colour and debossed examples side by side.
Inserts and Protection
Fit does most of the protecting. A close-fitting mailer stops the product moving, which is where most transit damage starts. Where the contents are fragile or there are several items, a folded card platform cut from the same board holds everything in position and arrives flat inside the box.
Corrugated dividers split the box into cells for sets of jars or candles. A moulded pulp tray cradles glass. Kraft tissue, crinkle paper or paper void fill take up any remaining space. None of these add a second type of material to the parcel.
For heavy jars or bottles, use B flute and a pulp tray rather than E flute and more filler. The mailer boxes with fitted inserts page shows the platform, divider and tray styles with the measurements we need to make them.
Tape, Labels and Tissue
Because the lid locks, most orders need no tape. Where a seal is required, water-activated paper tape bonds to the kraft liner and tears with it, so it cannot be lifted and reapplied. We supply it plain or printed with your logo in a dispenser width.
Address labels on paper stock with a paper-friendly adhesive keep the outside of the box in one family of material. Thermal courier labels also stick well to the kraft liner. If you want the box reusable for returns, keep the address on a label rather than printing a panel on the lid.
Printed kraft tissue in the same artwork wraps the contents and makes the opening feel finished. The kraft tissue paper with your logo is printed one colour to match the box and shipped flat in the same consignment.
Who Orders This Mailer
Online clothing and accessory brands shipping single items. Skincare, candle and soap makers posting sets with a card platform. Independent bookshops and print sellers using the slim and book mailers. Subscription box businesses that want a plain brown box with a printed inside.
Jewellery and watch sellers order the small sizes with a debossed lid and a foam-free platform. Food producers use the medium mailer for jars and preserves with a pulp tray. Artists and stationers ship prints and cards in the slim postal mailer with a card stiffener.
Many of these buyers order a plain run for wholesale and a printed run for direct orders on the same dieline, so the packing bench learns one fold. For heavier or palletised goods, the shipping boxes with top flaps take over where the mailer stops.
Ordering and Delivery
Send the internal size, the style, the flute and the number of print colours, with a logo or artwork. We send a custom quote by email within one working day, listing the board grade, the ink and the closure. Minimums are low and set per job. One-colour mailers start from £0.25 on larger runs.
A free design proof shows the dieline and the folded box. Production takes 4–7 working days after approval and delivery is free and tracked to UK mainland addresses in 2–3 working days, flat-packed in outer cases. Misprints or damage reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded. If you are not sure which style suits your product, the guide to choosing a box style compares the mailer styles with photographs.

Biodegradable Mailer Boxes Questions
What buyers ask before ordering biodegradable mailer boxes.
What board is the mailer made from?
Single-wall corrugated with an unbleached kraft liner on both faces and a paper flute, in E flute as standard or B flute for heavier contents.
Is there any coating on the print?
No. Water-based inks sit directly on the kraft. We do not laminate, foil or soft-touch coat this box.
Do you make claims about how the box breaks down?
No. We describe the materials on the quote and print the wording you supply. Data sheets are available from the material supplier on request.
Is tape needed to close the mailer?
No. The lid locks into the front wall. A paper tear strip or water-activated paper tape is available if you want a seal.
Can the underside of the lid carry print?
Yes. Inside print is part of the same pass and is the most popular finish on this mailer.
Is E flute or B flute better for my goods?
E flute for clothing, cosmetics and light goods; B flute for jars, books and anything heavier. We suggest one on the quote if you tell us the contents.
What can hold the product still inside?
Folded card platforms, corrugated dividers and moulded pulp trays, all shipped flat inside the box.
Will colours match my brand exactly?
On brown kraft they print darker and warmer. For accurate colour ask for the white-top kraft liner.
Will the mailer work as a returns box?
Yes. Keep the address on a label and ask for a second tear strip or a tuck-and-fold lid.
How many mailers do I have to order?
There is no fixed minimum: each job is priced on its own, and a small launch batch of mailers is fine. Give us the internal size and the quantity you have in mind and the price for that run comes back with the quote.
What is the lead time on this mailer?
Roughly 10–12 working days from approving the proof: 4–7 in production and 2–3 in transit on a free tracked UK mainland service. Before that, the quote takes one working day and the proof a day or two more.
